Billups on Short Leash for Game 4
Will Chauncey have to step aside?As the Detroit Free Press’ Krista Jahnke reported, Chauncey Billups is on a short leash for tonight’s game four – either he’s playing like he did in game two (19 points, 7 assists) or he’ll be watching Rodney Stuckey play the point.
“It’s a leash to make sure he can do the things he can do,” Flip Saunders said. “At this point, you’ve got to throw everything out the window and just lay it out on the line.”
And if Billups’ playing time has to go out the window, he’s willing to take a backseat for the squad. Stuckey’s been great, posting 13 points per game in just over 22 minutes.
“The bottom line is we’re going to try to win,” Billups said. “If that’s what that means, then that’s what that means.”

is billups chocking??.. where yje je;; did that mr bigshot attitude?? pistons wont win with stuckey on the point i hope stuckey can get billups all fired up.. i was betting on the pistons thinking that billups would surely own rondo.. OMG im gonna loose a lot of money

Now, if I am KG I pull Cassell into the back room and let him know that this is no time to start whining about PT. The last thing the C’s need is internal turmoil in the conference finals.

And Sam Cassell needs to shut his mouth! It boggles the rest of the world why Boston even picked his old ass up! He’s a cancer and a black hole when he gets in the game so just shut your mouth, know your role, and be the best cheerleader you can be ET!!!

wasn’t billups a finals mvp? i think he knows when he’s limited and can’t help his team. stuckey’s filling in just fine. they just need a 4th quarter like in game 2, where they were just out-executing the celtics.
they need to get Rip on that hamster wheel, like all game long though. celtics have no answer for that.

Dayum..Joe D is good at his job! He already has a clear cut replacement for Chauncey and Stuckey is “technically” still a rookie. The kid already seems ready to takeover..let him start at the point Flip! (I mean he is playing against Rondo)

I would bet this year is Detroit’s last run with their current team. If Joe D is good at his job, he’s going to need to start trying to get value for Sheed (turning 34 this year – 13th season), Billups (turning 32 this year – 11th season), and maybe even Rip (29 – 9th season) sooner rather then later.

Billups hurt it aint no decline yet.He dont play off athletics anyway.His game is smarts.He just fucked up and tried to play early because its the playoffs.And Sam need to stop bitching.Maybe if he wasnt a fucking gunner he would get more time.

I don’t think they can.
The lack of Billups may be the undoing. Stuckey is nice but he ain’t no Billups.
