Dennis Rodman Getting on Someone’s Nerves
As great as this season has been, wouldn’t the NBA be a better place with another guy like Dennis Rodman involved? Forget the off-the-court stuff; just imagine the difference a player like Rodman could make for a team like Toronto, Denver, New Jersey, Phoenix, Dallas, Seattle, Washington…any team that’s ever worn the “soft” or “no defense” label.

alex says:
not really. remember, Rodman’s prime was when he was with the Bulls - who had a great motivator in PJ, a great no-nonsense leader and the GOAT - MJ, and they even had to employ Jack Haley just to keep the Worm sane most of the time.
Rodman will single handedly destroy those soft teams with his antics.

rodman was the ish!!!
he was probably the most awkward footed player ever in the NBA, but he would just play with every emotion that he had! the NBA probably does need about a dozen more of him!
who would be closest to him in the NBA now? ben wallace maybe, but he has more natural ability and way less heart.

I love Rod! You guys think he’ll ever be HOF? He was always anti-establishment, but he was no doubt a great defensive specialist and rebounder (and 5 rings). I think it would be a shame to still hold a grudge and keep him out. ‘96-’98 was the shit.

Austin Burton says:
@alex — I’d say Rodman’s prime was in Detroit. He had his two best rebounding seasons (18.7 & 18.3) for them, he never scored at a higher average for any other team than he did for Detroit, he made his only two All-Star Games with Detroit, he won two championships and won his two DPOY awards with Detroit.

Benoit Benjamin says:
The guy was the best defender I ver watched play. And the best rebounder since Russell and Wilt. And his prime was back with the pistons when he constantly harassed jordan on D. To me it’s a joke he didn’t make more all-star games and he should be in the hall.

Very Funny!! He the ish. I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes or doesn’t make the hall of fame

An expert like Charley Rosen says the two most intelligent and talented palyers he ever watched were Rodman and Sheed. The L definitly need more guys like them;

Great piece. Dennis Rodman is one of my all-time favorite players. Shame on the NBA for keeping out of the Hall of Fame.
Why was Michael Jordan shooting FTs on that play?
Charley Rosen is a bum and only has a lover affair with Phill Jackson, Michael Jordan and anything Chicago Bulls. He only highlighted Dennis Rodman as an intelligent player because he played for the Bulls.
Also…Gotta agree with Austin that the Worms best seasons were in Detroit; that was no doubt his prime.
They don’t make players…errrr…GUYS like him anymore.
Nuff respect to Dennis Rodman

alex says:
@austin - he had better numbers in Detroit I’d give you that. But he played, defended, and rebounded against tougher big men in the mid-90’s. For some reason, Shaq had a very tough time backing up Rodman. Also, the triangle offense highlighted his passing skills and offensive court awareness. he had a lot of hockey passes at that time.

@alex…
you got a point, but i have to agree with austin here… his best years was with detroit. the rodman that was on the bulls squad was awesome, but by that time he was already 1/2 basketball player and 1/2 entertainer.
“played, defended, and rebounded against tougher big men in the mid-90’s. ” - aint right, i think he played with more physical players in his days with detroit… BAD BOYS remember?
May 23rd, 2008 at 11:33 am
alex says:
@the_don - the Bad Boys were a team effort. Everybody played physical - Salley, Laimbeer, Dumars, Mahorn, Rodman. But on the Bulls, it was only him mostly doing the work and Pippen / Jordan harrasing for the steals.
The worm had to guard Malone, Kemp, and freakin Shaq since they had centers who were only good for 18 fouls.

Tenacious defense, always in some kind of trouble, lots of outside distractions that pull him away from basketball.

That’s because Rodman probably was the one that gave it to him.
