Who Do You Hate?
You can hate him now… (photo. Mannion)While everyone in the Dime office has their favorite ballplayers, we also have those we’re not so fond of. At least once a day you’ll hear somebody let out a frustrated “I hate [Player X]!” especially if said player is doing damage to their favorite team, internally hurting their favorite team, or killing their fantasy season. Or sometimes it’s simply a case of, as one unnamed Dime crew member is known to say, “I just don’t like his face.”
Manu Ginobili, Yao Ming, Tim Duncan, Antawn Jamison, Tony Parker (noticing a lot of Spurs?), Shaq, Vince Carter, Derek Fisher, J.J. Redick, even LeBron … I’ve heard them all put on somebody’s s*** list at one time or another.
It’s not just players, either. Personally, I know I’ve grown tired of Mike D’Antoni and have rooted against the Suns over the last couple years just because of that. I can’t stand how he whines and complains about EVERYTHING. To me D’Antoni is the biggest whiner in the League, and that’s coming from someone who enjoys watching the Spurs.

My least favorite player is Carmello Anthony. Even though he makes them he still shoots horrible shots. His go to move is a jab step jumper! Now that’s lazy. He does way too much complaining for someone who only plays at 60% of his potential. Just think of how good he would be at only 85%!. When I played against him in college (actually I sat the bench) I noticed he was laughing and playing around as if he were disinterested in the game. I think he is so talented that he figures it’s O.K. to give a 1/2 effort. Melo, you are better than that!

For me, it’s Mark Cuban and TJ Ford.
Cuban because he’s quite possibly the most annoying owner ever. He needs to get his ass out of the huddle, stop sitting behind the players bench and get his ass up in the box where owners are supposed to sit. He meddles too much with that team and interferes with people doing their jobs (i.e. the coach). When people think of the Mavs, they think of the owner, and the spotlight should always be on the players, always. That’s the only way a team shines. If they ever win a chip, you know Cuban will take all the credit.
Ford because he seemingly doesn’t understand his own strengths and weakness and thinks he’s superman. Terrible distributor, horrible shot selection, combine that with a bad attitude/ego and he’s just useless. Plus he can’t guard opposing PGs. There’s no way a team can win with a PG like him. I wish he’d wipe that stupid smirk off his face every time he either a) scores or b) misses a shot or turns the ball over. Dude’s got issues and I can’t wait for Colangelo to ship his ass out of town. This has been my feeling about Ford for about a year and a half now: “I’m done with TJ Ford!”

least favorite player is brian scalabrine. the lead blower. the turnover machine. allergic to the paint. bricks open shots. fouls a team’s best shooter.
scalabrine is so horrible to watch and I just can’t understand why everyone in the arena loves him so much when he steps on the floor. every time i see him in a suit on the bench i just let out a big “thank you God” and every time i see him check into the game I just put a mark in the “L” column.

On a serious note, I think I hate Tim Duncan the most. The guy has no personality. Whether he score or misses a shot, he has the same stupid look on his face. And Kevin Garnet is running a close second. He needs to stop all that posturing, popping jersey and head buttin the padded post under the basket.

This is probably not even worth noting as the guy is such a non-factor in every way, but one guy who really bugs me is Primoz Brezec.
I know most everyone takes this chump as a joke but I don’t see how his stupid macho european act is humorous. Before every Bobcats game he’d go up to the Ref before tip and demand the ball to test the weight and start limbering up with it as if he was going to have any tiny impact on the outcome of the game anyway. And that whole “Gangsta” thing at the Pistons didn’t sit well with me all all. lol. Just Youtube his name and check how many posters he’s on.

Maybe it’s because I’m still waiting for the second coming of Olajuwon, but I’m sick of watching him being the last guy to drag his slow ass across mid-court on every play. His game looks heartless at times and his only real energy seems to come when playing under a red portrait of chairman Mao. He needs to cut the summer stuff and work on a dominant NBA game. He must have the weakest looking 20-10 game in the league.

He’s 100x better than Jordan!!” fans that can’t be in any discussion without using the word ‘hater’ for everyone who doesn’t kneel and pray towards Los Angeles every morning.

If he played as hard for his entire career as he played against poor Frederick Weiss, he’d be just as popular as he was back in ‘99. basically anyone who doesn’t “work” up to their potential… i know that not everyone has the drive that kobe has but when your 6-11 and average less then 5 rebounds per game (curry) or your 6-6, can jump over the moon, and always settle for jump shots (vince), i can’t respect that.

Forgot Chris Mullin–Where my ticket is, sometimes opposing team VIPs will sit very nearby. Mullin sat cattycorner to me one time at a thinly attended Golden State game, before he became GM. I basically left him alone, but in my very limited interaction, he was biggest jerk I’ve ever met in the NBA. (And I was a good boy that time.) And he made all those dumbass signings early on and comes out smelling like a rose!

As dominant as he claims to be and is said to have been, he really didn’t ‘win’ games for his squads. Shaq didn’t start winning until he got a closer/igniter on his squad.
I respect his size and agility. He was a monster in the paint, but as we see now. If he can’t dunk, then he is very limited.

Whatever…Just don’t respect him as a leader. He was more of a Mascot. Some people needed him to boost their confidence others played their game no matter what (Kobe Fisher, Horry, Horace, Mitch, Shaw,)

first off, I think chris paul is going to rule the league and he and lebron need to work out a deal to team up. what bothers me is his “i’m a nice guy but if you cross me, i’ll pop you in the napsack attitude (which incidentally he’s done before) He pushes off quite a lot and with his skill set, you’d think he wouldn’t have to. I remember playing pick-up ball against this one guy. he was pretty decent (i’m terrible myself) anyway, he would always use his off arm to push off on layups and it would drive me crazy. The other thing is his flopping. Personally, I think flopping is vital sometimes. The way he does it is annoying. there was one play where bowen was running downcourt with his back turned. paul sees this and stops and plants his feet waiting for bowen to run into him. then he acts like he was hit by a bomb. perfectly legal play, but a cheap way to draw an easy foul.
point is. paul is so good he shouldn’t have to play how he does.

In game 6 you could see that scowl on his face when he picked up the quick fouls. Here’s the reason why i hate them: they embody this current nba. All business, no passion. It’s fine to be professional, but it’s another thing when you play a game and you don’t get fired up about it. Their demeanor, their body language, the words they use in the post-game, the plays they run, their execution… everything about them infuriates me.
Here are my exceptions: mario elie, sean elliot, stephen jackson, manu ginobili, malik rose, kurt thomas, robert horry. These guys want to win more than anything else, you can just tell.

-I hate the BIASED media and how they bandwagon and pick and chose which players they want to prais and dog other players out for doing the same things.
-Commentators: Jon Barry and Tim Legler, I just hate listening to them because they are so biased.
-Charles Barkeley: Now I only half way don’t like Charles..sometimes he’s funny and sometimes he comes off as a hater and doesn’t seem to know what he’s talking about.
Kobe Bryant- I appreciate Kobe’s skills and him being the best player in the game right now, but like someone already said..something about that guy just rubs me the wrong way..he just fails at life. I also agree with whoever said they hate Kobes “super fans” who think the guy does no wrong.
Carmelo Anthony- He’s right in the middle..I don’t exactly hate him, but at this point i’m not a fan. I don’t need to get into how lazy he seems to be because people have already pointed it out…and while were at it I dislike that Nuggets organization for wasting some of Iversons time. And some of the Nuggets fans who act as if Melo is the second coming of MJ when in reality he hasn’t done a damn thing.
Those are my top two players right now…I can tolorate everyone else. I’m surprised that this many people have a problem with CP3, Lebron and Shaq though.

I think I hate Vince Carter the most and for one particular reason. Multiple times I’ve seen him miss several open shots in the 4th quarter, then, with time running out, hit a shot to tie or take the lead. He’s talented as hell, but he won’t ever be MJ, so quit trying.

I hate every super-athletic 2/3/4 when they settle for jump shots. You lazy sacks, layins are always a higher percentage. I love KG’s D, but he’s almost always faster and more athletic than the guy guarding him - go to the hoop. LeBron needs to shoot 20 free-throws a game, if he doesn’t, he’s being lazy. Wade, go to the hoop. Carmelo, your settling for jumpers is just as pathetic as your right cross. T-Mac, you are longer and quicker than almsot anyone, to the hoop! Kobe and Mike, they both go to the hoops, and their teams are better because of it. Jump shots are for Steve Kerr, John Paxon, Del Curry, Danny Marjle, Ainge, Korver, and Craig Hodges (among many others) - not super stars with more athleticism in their feet than most of us have in our bodies.
Carmelo’s lazy ace is killing me though. He plays like every “too good to care” kid that makes coaching tough.
But I love a lot of these guys too - most of them are why I watch this game. I just can’t stand some of the things they do. I hate that they can be so great and then play so stupid.
