Joe Alexander Might Be the Best Athlete in the Draft

Everything we’ve been hearing since the college season ended, is that everyone has been floored by the athleticism of West Virginia’s Joe Alexander.
Our friends at DraftExpress went to watch Joe work out with a bunch of other NBA prospects in Las Vegas and sat down with him to do a Q&A. Alexander claims his athleticism has come through working out, as opposed to just having good genes. Check out the interview and pics of Joe’s head by the rim HERE.

ERIC says:
It’s amazing that this draft has 2 American-born, white guys (Alexander & Budinger) who display elite-class athleticism. In the last 20 drafts there have been 0!
There have been many top white players who have come along but not those who possessed this athleticism. Maybe I am wrong: can anybody name a white, American NBA Player in the last 10-20 years with this type of athleticism?

Tom Chambers…brushing up on the edge of 20 years. And like Chambers, dude appears to be an unpleasant fellow.
Googs was a good athlete before he got hurt, but Rex and Bones are the prime examples recently. Damn. My toddler sons are coming for the title!

AY says:
these things always look great without bruce bowen trying to take your legs out, or raja bell trying to take your head off. Dennis Rodman is looking for a paycheck: why don’t teams get him to come into these camps and see how the kids react to him D-ing them? He can’t stay in front of them anymore, but he’ll still check them into the floor.

Never heard of someone throwing up 6pts and 3 reb a game in the playoffs as being underrated…i think its the “you have no idea” that cracks me up the most tho

LOL you guys are a trip. I don’t buy into pre-draft hype. There’s always someone saying who’s the “best athlete” or the “sleeper pick”. I like Alexander though, and I hope he does well, but I’ll wait and see until he gets to the pros before I make judgement on him. Like AY said, no one’s playing any tough D on him, so of course it looks good. (Remember Yi Jianlian’s footage last year when he did all those drills playing against a CHAIR??)

I go to WVU. Joe’s got serious hops regardless of his color. The team had a slam dunk contest before the season. Joe did some Lebron type dunks and a foul line dunk. He is intense on the court but just a regular dude off of it. I think he majors in engineering. He’s almost as laid back as Pittsnoggle was. (Without the tats)

Brado says:
I’m not saying Matt Harpring is underated…the dude is one tought mofo. If I was building a team I wouldn’t mind having him coming off the bench to frustrate opponents.

FYI…..Alexander was actually born in Taiwan
Joe Alexander (born December 26, 1986 in Taiwan; lived abroad for eight years (two in Taiwan, five in Beijing and one in Hong Kong); hometown: Mount Airy, Maryland)
HE IS A BEAST THOUGH!

Paul says:
Actually Joe is 100% American. His father was overseas while working for nestle, I went to the same high school with him when his family moved back to Mt. Airy, MD. I played with him in high school, and his work ethic is amazing. Glad to see him overcome not getting a D-1 offer after high school. His hard work paid off.
Way to go Joe
