Way off topic, I remembered ONE nickname that uses the first-last name combo that actually does sound decent...Mo-Pete. That one ain't too bad. Not great but hey, it's an exception to the rule that they are generally lame as hell.

The biggest difference between Duncan and other players of his size is that he creates more shots because he uses the glass so well, better than anyone in the league.

Kids don't have big enough backboards in their school yards and at home and never learn to use glass like they should.

SAS, i just dont know about ian, he seams to be more of a nice complementary player then a headliner. same for tiago splitter who will be joining next season too.

i think duncan is going to hand over the team to parker to be honest, which i dont like unless they can get ian to really step his game up big time in the next 3 yrs. if ian can make it to being a good PF then the spurs have some good years, i just dont think parker and ian coule lead the spurs to a title.

the huge bonus with ian is he is like only 20 yrs old and is a smaller "d howard" type player. he can grow his game for sure.

Mister Sun just likes to get a rise out of folks.

Of course Duncan is not oriented as "athletic" but rather as "skilled". That's why his prime will be extended moreso probably than people like LeBron, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, etc. who will have to figure out ways to compensate (with skill) when their athleticism erodes away.

That's why Sam Cassell can still play, his game is centered on skills like mid-range shooting and changing speeds, and just being fearless and clutch.

That's why he Timmy is called "The Big Fundamental". And he will have a longer-lasting era of domination thanks to the fact he does not rely on his "athleticism". He is one of the all-time greats who will be very effective even after his "prime" years have passed. The real question is who will he pass the torch to?

R.C. Buford thinks that guy may be Ian Mahinmi, a guy who led The Austin Toros to the D-League Finals this season and will be rejoining the Spurs roster next season.

@ Mister Sun

I was sitting out the argument until I read "garnett is the one overcoming average athleticism with skills"

KG is extremely athletic; I think you got the roles reversed brotha

Mister Sun Duncan isn't really athletic like you making him out to be.He plays on all skills. And everybody wants to win but the same people always get the most amount of chips every era,the BEST ONES.So it dont matter how great you are.The greatest players are good for more than one chip.Duncan,Shaq,Kobe in the conversation, but if he gets another chip critics are silenced.MJ,Keem took the best player of the MJ in his prime era because he took both when Mike fell back.Zeke got his 2.Magic took his 5 with Bird getting his 3.No matter what those dudes the ones since the 80's.Thats what it is until somebody else steps up to the plate.

your arguments for garnett not wanting to win is just nonsense, allen iverson hasn't won a lot, does that mean he does't want to win also?
btw, of course duncan is the athletic bruiser, look how he pushed amare into the lane, garnett is the one overcoming average athleticism with skills, you should know better
