The Bulls’ Beasley Plan
Mike Beasley (photo. Chad Griffith)As the South Florida Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Winderman reported, the Bulls have virtually made up their minds that Michael Beasley will be the No-1 pick in the draft.
Though John Paxson isn’t about to show his hand, “[An] insider insisted, “No. 1 and No. 2 are booked and done.”
Even if Paxson didn’t want to give his plan away, he couldn’t help himself from waxing about Beasley’s amazing scoring ability.
“He scores the ball as easily as any young player that went into the college game in a long, long time.”

GEE...I'll take a muscle-bound man and put his face in the sand. says:
Smart don’t try to be a hero and pull of something dramatic. Just take the best guy at number 1. Simple and then look for a great coach.

Kobeef says:
How can you not take the guy who penned one of the greatest pieces of smack in the history of college ball:
“We’re going to beat Kansas at home. We’re going to beat them in their house. We’re going to beat them in Africa. Wherever we play, we’re going to beat them.” - B’easy
AND…made good on his word by beating the best team in the nation with his cast of guys who will be lucky to get drafted in round two.
There is going to be a lot of pressure on Paxson to take Rose because he is local and because he saw more time in the media spotlight on his title run but B’easy is the man.
Chicago needs to a team that is desperate for a PF and trade Tyrus and Drew for some cap space/a centre.
Chicago 2009 (if I was running the team)
PG - Gordon
SG - Hughes
SF - Deng
PF - B’easy
C - Noah
With that crew they easily posess one of the most explosive lineups in the NBA with 4 of the starting 5 capable of having a 30 point night.
Don’t screw this up Paxon. B’easy is Josh Smith with T-Mac’s shooting touch.

We want Rose in Chicago
Ask the streets Pax. We need the pg that wears 23

If Paxson does anything less than take Beasley, I’m gonna punch him in his left nut.
What Chitown has lacked for ohhhhh so long is a scoring big man. Well, they’ve been blessed with this pick, because the number 1 pick just so happens to be a scoring big man. Nuff friggin said Pax….don’t make me hurt that left nut.

MoxWestCoastRep says:
Beef- Gordon in not a PG at all. Someone has to distribute the ball.
Gordon
Huhges
Deng
Beasley all will be looking to shoot first. It just makes more sense to have hienrich out there for his passing skills.

Kobeef says:
@dapro
Picking someone because they grew up in the Town and because they wear the same number as your greatest player is a pretty stupid way to make decisions.
Take a lesson from Donnie Walsh and Reggie Miller. Have the nads to the right thing.

Kobeef! First things first, Gordon at the point?
Secondly, I sure as shit hope Beasley has a better shooting touch than the Mac.
Last 5 years for T-Mac …
FG%: 42.2% on 21.3 attempts/game
FT%: 74.6% on 6.8 attempts/game, and wait for it …
3pt%: 32.3% on a painful 5.6 attempts/game

DaPro says:
Kobeef fam I watched Rose, it’s not about being local
You catz learned nothing from watching CP3 and Deron work out this year is that game changing pgs can be the face of a franchise
Rose is good kid, his family is already here in the Chi. No adjustment period like other players.
It’s not that the Bulls needed a post player, they need easy buckets
A jump shooting team gets better looks through a solid big(Beasley) or pg who can get to the rim(Rose)
Can’t go wrong with either pick but I’d go Rose
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:43 am
Kobeef says:
@Mox
Gordon has the chops to be the main distributor. He was the primary ballhandler on his team in college and led the national championship U-Conn Huskies in assists.
Last year has a 9 assist game against Milwaukee and his average of 3+ per game shows he can pass. Paired with Hughes (who is an above average passer and ballhandler) they have more than enough playmaking in the backcourt.
May 22nd, 2008 at 11:45 am
Celts Fan says:
I’d probably go Beasley since that’s such a pressing need. Hinrich should rebound next year. That leaves you with a starting lineup of:
Kirk
Hughes (this guy is GARBAGE, but he probably will start for defensive reasons)
Deng (assuming he resigns)
Beasley
Noah
with Ty Thomas, Drew Gooden Nocioni, Aaron Gray, Duhon (if he resigns, think he’s a FA,) and a supersub in Ben Gordon (again, assuming he resigns) all coming off the bench. That’s a hell of a young team.

DaPro says:
Kobeef it ain’t happening with Gordon running the point
He’s a scorer not a distibutor, I had to suffer through 82 games this season of everyone going for “his’
If they pick up Beasley he would fall into the same trap and look for “his”
Kirk is not the pg of the future, I never believed he was. He is decent
2008-2009 Bulls roster uptempo transition with
Rose
Hughes
Deng
Gooden
Noah
Off the bench-
Gordon (2g)
Heinrich (pg) until you can move him
Nocioni (sf)
Thomas(pf)
Gray (c)

I could see Johnson doing his thing in the Chi. I am curious as to how Mark Jackson can do as a coach. As annoying as he is to some I think he is on point with what he observes many times.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:19 pm
ERIC says:
No matter who the pick, there will be a glut of fowards if they take beasley who is a sf/pf(gooden, noah, thomas, deng, nocioni). If they take Rose there will be many guards (gordon, heinrich, hughes, duhon, sefolosha). No matter who they pick there will have to be a trade. Considering they need a scoring big man AND their forwards are much more tradeable assets than their guards, it makes sense to draft Beasley and trade one of their forwards listed above.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:27 pm

gooden is terrible. trade him for potato chips and give them to beasley on draft night when they take him number 1

Max Power says:
Over the last 3 seasons, I’ve watched over 150 Bulls games. There is no way Gordon can run the point against teams’ first units. He doesn’t have good vision, gets easily rattled by big double teams, and he is among the worst guards at ball handling. Plus Gordon wants over $60 mllion, so he is going to be traded before the deadline whether they take Rose or Beasley. There is no way the Bulls are going to overpay for a one dimensional undersized shooting guard.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Blue says:
as a heat fan, i really hope that the bulls take beasley…if not, it doesn’t look like riley wants to give up haslem. so, there’d be a log jam at forward, so somebody would have to go!
i’d much prefer
rose
wade
marion
haslem
a center who’s last name isn’t blount!
unfortunately, i think (my opinion) that the bulls’ forwards are a little more consistent then their guards, so it would make more sense for them to draft rose. damn, are we really gonna have to wait more than a month for this all to play out? WTF?

GEE...I'll take a muscle-bound man and put his face in the sand. says:
I can see a little kiddie organization now.
Beasley’s little Bulls.
The marketing is perfect with Beasley’s last name starting with B.
Anyway Blue imagine if somehow the Heat can keep Rose and get LaMarcus or even Bynum. Might be a nice look.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Kobeef says:
@Mox and DaPro
You know, you guys need to let go of the Larry Brown school of basketball approach to the game.
Phil Jackson has created one of the most successful franchises of the decade and achieved a three-peat with Derek Fisher, a point guard who shoots threes and averages 3 assists per game for his CAREER (2.5 per game this season).
There is more than one way run an effective backcourt. If you have a playmaking SG you can have a shooting PG. As long as the plays get made it doesn’t matter.
May 22nd, 2008 at 12:59 pm
Blue says:
@ Gee
With the other four dude, i’d be happy if they even got Diop! haha, just somebody who plays like a center!
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:12 pm
DaPro says:
He had a playmaking forward in Pip
Having a top tier pg isn’t old school, it’s a wise investment
They should go for Rose since he opens up the game for everyone else
Beas is nice but I think he would get his numbers but the wins won’t jump. On a team with shooters he could space the floor more
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:13 pm
GEE...I'll take a muscle-bound man and put his face in the sand. says:
lol ….wait you were kidding about the Diop thing right?
For real though, that is a nice 4. So what ever came of Pat’s scouting trip?
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:14 pm
DaPro says:
Kobeef
I get it bro but the Bulls don’t have a playmaking 2 guard
Gordon isn’t effective that way. He is better as a threat to score. He suffers when he has to do too much
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Kudabeen says:
Wow…
http://www.derrickroseonline.org/derrick-rose-videos.php
Bulls do need to ship out a couple pieces and get a bigger reliable 2 guard and a rebounding shot blocking Big to solidify their team…
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:33 pm
K Dizzle -Take the quarter out your as* cuz you played yourself says:
Anybody hear Jay Bilas say the Bulls should take Rose cuz Beasley didn’t win the game vs. Wisconsin in the tourny. So Basically, he’ll get you 20-10, but won’t win you games. That’s the kind of thinkin that gets gms fired. “Experts” need to stop punishin Beaz for playin at a non-basketball power like K-State. If dude has gone to UNC, UCLA, Kansas or Duke, this would never be in doubt. Chi-town needs a lowpost scorer and he just fell into their laps…
May 22nd, 2008 at 1:36 pm
Blue says:
haha…i was mostly kidding, but just a big body in there to bang around and rebound. he wouldn’t have to score very much.
pat’s scouting trip is gonna bring in some gems in the 2nd round. they still have a 2nd round pick, right?
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:05 pm
Kobeef says:
@ Dapro
When Larry Hughes wants to play he is one of the top 5 playmakers at the 2 in the league. In Washington he averaged 22-5-6. 20-5-5 is the benchmark of an elite SG in this league.
Before you destroy me - I realize that is a big “if” but I am not a hater.
The team needs a good coach to get the most out of this group. I don’t blame Larry for getting upset with Mike Brown and think that with the right coach (and because he will be motivated by playing with a good team again) Larry can get back to an 15-5-5 guy (considering the added firepower if they add Beasley).
May 22nd, 2008 at 3:15 pm
DaPro says:
Kobeef-
You’re right Hughes can be solid but he thrives in the open court
He needs a to be a secondary ballhandler and not the primary
Gil was the first option as the pg and hughes was the 2, it allowed Hughes to play off the ball and run in transition
Rose will open the floor for the Bulls and push the tempo provided they (Bulls) get a coach that understands the style of team
May 22nd, 2008 at 4:19 pm
GEE...I'll take a muscle-bound man and put his face in the sand. says:
Yea if I am correct Heat have 2 second round picks. Come on though you know Pat wasn’t scouting. He was on South Beach getting it in lol.
Dang thinking of that though, Miami should have some good young talent if they pick well.
Can’t wait till draft day now.
Praying Houston’s GM gets a lick of sense!

they can still sign Brand (i’m pretty sure cuz the draft pick salry might change it) bcuz theyve got 2 big contracts JWill and Buckes coming of the books leaving them with 1 left 2 dump (mark blount) and I think Brand and maybe even wade and Matrix could take cuts to play together with rose sign and trade is also an option alyhough the Bulls could easily screw it all up

I Love the bulls and I’m one of the few dat stayed on the wagon after the championship days. If I were Pax I would trade gordon asap. why? He is a liability. He can score but its usually against opposing teams backups or late in the quarter, after his man has tourched him numerous times. He Is not a Pg. cannot run the point for extended periods of time. He can due spot duty but dats it. Keep nocioni because he brings heart and toughness. with dat said draft beasley. sefalosha is due to bust out being a back up for at least 3 positions. this team is deep and can use various lineups to match up with anyone.
Hinrich=pg
hughes=sg
deng=sf
thomas=pf
beasley=c
bring noah nocioni and sefalosha, gooden. off bench as energy guys and potential starters. this whole team is a hustle, blue collar team. bg7 was a weak link and had a trickle effect last yr. hinrich game suffers with bg on the court, having to guard bigger 2 guards therefore suffering on offense. hughes can play defense and handle the rock and is a bigger verson of ben gordon. and whatever spare part we get for him let it be a draft pick in the future to a team like ny.
