They should have kept Avery and made more changes with players.
Rick is cool and all but I don’t see where he is better than Avery really.
I always feel like a coach needs the right type of players for his system. Avery is all about D more so than O so give him some David West, T.Prince and KG type players.
Perhaps these players will work with what Rick wants to do, I don’t see where they will be better.

Off topic, but what is so great about D’Antoni?
He under achieved with the 2 time MVP, a dominant Big Man, and great role players.
His philosophy- Run as much as possible, dont foul, dont play physical D, Shoot 3s.
Thats Genius? Not even one trip to the conference finals.
Hell, I need to start coaching.

as bad as the mavs cap space is (23 million over with just 7 guys under contract) maybe cuban needs to coach to save some money!

I’m really surprised the picked Rick Carlisle. I consider the single most controlling head coach in the league. Odd choice for a team that wants to open up their offense.
Great coach though. He was an offensive genious back in the day when he was an assistant and he showed his ability to coach defense when he stepped up to the head job. Good motivator. Gets the most out of his players. Gets them to play together. Very good coach.
Just an odd choice for a team looking for more freedom and a new+different voice
