Jason Richardson.
Side note:
Still til this day, I think Latrell Sprewell is the only NBA player to have ever been on the All-Star (1994–coaches selection) without even have been on the ballot.

Yeah that JR Smith comparison is spot on.

ERIC says:
Latrell was a FEROCIOUS dunker, silky smooth (yet streaky) jump shot, great ball handler and has the fire inside.
No one in today’s NBA takes his anger out on the rim like Spree used to.
Yes, he was wrong for rejecting the Wolves 3yr $21 mil offer, but im referring to his Golden State/Knicks days.
You are comparing J-Rich and JR Smith? Latrell was a 3-time all star, and had an All-NBA team under his belt – the two aforementioned players wont even get close to that.
Spree was a great player (not HOF) but, nevertheless, unique.

You’re right Eric. I change my comparison to Melo.

yallallreadyknow says:
spree was not a great ball handler. in fact, that was the weakest part of his game—he couldn’t dribble.
but that aside, the nigga was sick!
and the nigga was crazy..
…when two of his full-bred pit bulls attacked his daughter, spree said: oh well. i aint getting rid of my dogs.
gangsta!

John says:
How about Caron Butler. Not in Attitude but in ability to hit threes, defense (steels), and play within the offense like Spree was capable of.

Who cares? Why we talkin about Latrell Sprewell? The guy was a crazy lunatic who had everything given to him, and fucked up a life anyone would kill to have. He wasn’t even really that good. Guy can crawl in a hole and die.

JR Smith. from attitude to driving inside whenever he wants to, then falling in love with the outside shot too damn much, I think he has Sprewell down pretty good.

Sprewell was the man, especially since he helped lead the Knicks to the finals in ’99.

DaPro says:
I was thinking Melo but then JR plays somewhat similar but he falls in luv with the 3 too much. Spree could shoot the mid range shot and JR hasn’t developed that part of his game
Spree wasn’t a good ball handler he just had a quick first step. He couldn’t go left.

I used to (2-3 years ago) always see Spree riding around on one of his motorcycles along the lakefront in summer (Lake Michigan)… haven’t seen him once since they took his boat though.
Sick player, still don’t get what has gone on inside his head though.

how can you compare melo to spree? melo is pussy, while spree had that inner drive all players should have. at least when he was on court. he didn’t had dribble but as someone mentioned, he had quick first step. he gave you business on both ends of the floor. too bad he was left to think too long. if they could have kept him on floor 24/7, he would be HOF. when ever he had to “use” his head, crap like pj happened or rejecting 7mil per couse he cant feed his family with that.. too bad. those knicks from 99′ had biggest heart any team had, that i saw at least.

Korady says:
I’m on the same page as Mox. S-Jack was the first guy I thought of when I saw this. If he had the ferocious dunks, it’d be pretty close to “another” Spree

Spree just looks quick…he has those bonyazz legs that move swiftly so it looks like he’s doing the Babe Ruth trot.
Kyle Weaver doesn’t have any talent or athleticism but in todays basketball world he LOOKS the most like Spree. Haha
