As noted above, both trades (with the Sonics and the T'Wolves) were fair trades. That happens. Bad teams with superstars sometimes decide to get something in return rather than watch their superstar get old.

how about a "who is boston's finals mvp" discussion. Right now KG has as much chance of winning as Leon Powe.

What choice!?! McHale's the GM, KG didn't get to choose crap, and no GM is gonna trade a guy as good as KG within their own conference. That's not how it works...

McHale got a package of two prospects (Gerald's been exposed since but was still kinda highly regarded, and Big Al's legit,) $17M in expiring deals (Telfair, Gomes - who they should resign, but doubt he'd want to - and Ratliff,) the #3 OVERALL pick this year, our #1 next year, and another #2

LA coulda maybe given them Kwame's expiring deal, some other expiring contracts, Bynum (who they've said they weren't trading so many times,) and a few #1s that'd promise to be in the 20s.

Which one would you take?

Ainge and Boston also got lucky that the Sonics, by dealing Ray, had decided to become worse on purpose.

K.G. had a choice of L.A. or Boston, you know McHale wasn't letting him go to L.A.

Ya Reed, in theory, we should still have:

Perk (a solid center that's developing an offensive game and already has established himself as a presence defensively and on the boards)

Rondo (solid PG that's got great court vision. that jumper's developing, but it's still a year or 2 away from even reaching "average," defensively and on the boards for a PG though, he's GREAT.)

Powe (solid dirty work guy. hopefully we can keep him)

Big Baby (does the dirty work but has some offensive game. hopefully he's not Mike Sweetney 2.0 and is still under 300lbs. a few years from now. If he's not, he's got some crafty offense and is not at all afraid to mix it up on the glass, though he will always struggle to get his shot up over bigger guys.)

Gabe Pruitt (honed his skills in the D-League this year, but should take over for Eddie House/Sam next year as the backup PG. combo guard that's played plenty of PG, so he can do that. can shoot and is pretty quick. 3 years from now, could be a solid starter in the NBA... or in Latvia. At this point, who knows. I'd like to think being the 2nd pick of the 2nd round means he'll still be in the NBA though.)

Our first round pick this year (we need a 2 guard 6'5" or over and/or a big that's 6'10"+, both for the bench)

That seems to have the makings of a solid supporting cast, but even if Rondo ascends to top 5 pg in the league like I think he will within 5 years, they're still missing that #1 guy. Other than that (and that's a big thing to be missing) we're set up fine for after the Big 3 go (not that anyone here is even worrying about it. Another decade of rebuilding will be COMPLETELY worth it as long as we get another W in the next week...)

@Celts Fans Damn I could have swore Ray just sign a new contract a couple of years ago oh well then you are probaly right But I think the young talent you have will fit in nicely after the Big 3 leave.

That Grizzlies trade was a good trade Pau Gasol is a 2 or 3 scoring option and he is soft not someone to build a franchise around and pay as superstar they are better off without him. Give them a yr or two they will be back

KNICKS UP all the rest down!!

2 other things for the record

1. I wanted Marcus Williams and was PISSED they took Rondo over him.

2. We don't get KG unless we make the Telfair trade to then get Ratliff's deal that expired a year earlier than Raef's (those 2 were thrown into that deal almost unnoticed, but it ended up being HUGE)
