Phil says:
win / win. nice trade. no fleecing. i only want pritchard fleecing people.

Bone says:
What does Indiana do at #11 now? Do they still take Augustin like people have predicted all along? Or do they take a chance on someone like Randolph or Robin Lopez?
By the way, has anyone in the NBA’s stock fallen more in the past three years than JO?

I like the trade too.

That’s way too much. Should have kept the pick.

Dagomar says:
Some mixed feelings:
If Jermaine’s really healthy, this is a good deal. TJ wasn’t going to work in TO anyway, Rasho is good but nothing too special. Giving up the 17 pick seems a bit much, though . . . yet O’Neal’s still a pretty young guy. We’ll see . . . but teams could do a whole lot worse than have Bargnani, Bosh and O’Neal as their top big men.

GEE...I got an idea that I wanna share, you don't like it so what I don't care says:
That’s good for Toronto, but for real it ain’t gone help Indiana out all that much outside of the draft pick. Plus you don’t even know how that draft pick is going to turn out.
Jermaine, Chris and Jose will be a real nice look.

fantastic move for Toronto, frees calderon for sole possession of starting PG, watch out for jose’s breakout season

kobeef says:
i hope to see both players return to form next year. both tj and jermaine have real talent but needed a change of scenery badly.
at this point jermaine is the bigger question mark as tj had some solid games post injury. jermaine has not been at all star level for a while.
toronto could use another quality swingman but there are a few to be had

jose isn’t breakin out, hes not really a offensive threat like that. Isn’t oneal just a old version of bosh at this point? It all rests on if bargani ever reaches his potenial cuz if not this trade is just used to cover that up.
Who the hell knows what indiana is doing. Danny granger is prolly cryin right now.

Tom G says:
should have kept the 17th pick, give them Joey G. 2 brothers on the same team would be cool to see, 2 twin brothers would be even better.

Colangelo is smarter than he seems. When does JO come off the books? Oh just the biggest free agent class ever.
23 million coming off the books to throw at Lebron, Melo, Wade. That might be the year Bosh becomes a free agent also, so they want to make sure they have max room to sign him to a long term deal.
I used to love JO when those Indiana Teams were straight gangster.
Really.. Tinsley, Reggie, Artest, SJax, Oneal, Brad Miller, Foster, Al Harrington…that team would rank #1 all-time in strip club shootings. Anyways..when JO is healthy he is a 20-10 guy.
He was obviously banged up last year, if he took the time to heal up he can be a 17-10 guy next to Bosh’s 23-7.
He will have to play Center though which may be hard on him because I can’t see Bosh playing center or bringing either of them off the bench. Still that is a nice top 3 up front, I think Bargnani could get the average up to 13-15ppg as a reserve.
I’d still love to see the Raps move one of their backcourt guys.. Caledon is untouchable, I like Parker at the 2…but they should bring Roko Yujic (sp?) over and start playing him as the backup pg. Kapono is a huge liability on D and is underathletic at the 3 or 2. I say ship him for some sort of bruising type 3 or 4.
I miss Chuck Swirsky already.

the raps just got screwed.leaning towards guys like JO is up there with trading to aquire kwame brown, gettin marbury for his impact on the floor, bahblah blah.flucker’s damaged goods. i can see it now…
question: is cb4 gonna have to choke a bitch ?!

knoc says:
good trade for raptors but i feel sorry for my pacers.
gawd if tinsley could only stay healthy. Tinsley is an amazing PG when he aint hobbling around on one leg. Playing second fiddle to ford should lower his risk of injury.
And Diogu should finally get some minutes at the PF. i see a team with Ford shooting all day long. sigh. its gona be a long season.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
nick says:
heard jo say his knee hasn’t felt this go in 2 1/2 years and by my account thats when he was last besting people. So if his knee is good toronto won this trade. plus his defensive reboundling and blocking shots will be huge. I do think giving up the 17th pick was too much but thats what was probably holding up the deal in the first place.
just a question if tinsley is healthy, does he start or ford?

Ding Dong We Got The 6th Pick says:
@13
Really? A chance to sign Lebron, Melo and Wade in Toronto? The only good thing about this trade is that it reduces the chances that the Knicks will go after TJ Ford as its point guard “of the future”…but you never know…
June 26th, 2008 at 3:01 am
ya boy says:
the math makes sense .A equal trade.neeh okay fine. It’s the intangibles of JO’s game that annoy the shyt outta me. He’s got that vince carter thing going on.mad skill no lust for the game anymore.maybe in his contract year toronto might see something.Even though Donnie’s a whole lot mo sober than Isiah there’s no way lebron would go to Toronto B4 NY and you know this maan!!Now melo in toronto is almost plausible and if miami gets beasley, dwayne ain’t going no mafluckingwhere anytime soon.

AY says:
What a great trade. you have a point guard who can’t stay heathy, so you trade for one that has a permanent neck problem. you have a star who shoots 15 footers but won’t go into the paint and only go for weak side blocks instead of playing real defense, so you get another guy who does the exact same thing in the 30 games he’d play. Next thing you know, the knicks will trade david lee and malik rose for ben gordon, juan dixon and lou williams. When can I get an NBA gm job so i can trade with these former players?

Papo0808 says:
this is a good trade though they are still injured but i guess it was a good move to both teams, well J.O is a nice and powerful player (if his not injured wow the raptors are team to beat in the east beacuse of the twin tower of CB4 nad J.O) and Tj is a playmaker and has a long range and speed to run and gun the pacers with D.Granger, its a must to see this coming draft, good move…
June 26th, 2008 at 8:17 am
JA says:
Raps should have fought more to keep the pick. They had some expiring contracts to tack on to have made that balance. Overall, unless JO tries to pull an Alonzo, I like the deal.

This just in-Jermaine O’neals car collection traded to Latrell Sprewell’s auto customization shop for a watercraft yet to be named..
June 26th, 2008 at 9:03 am
shake&bake says:
@19: I’m pretty sure the Raptors would not be the team to beat in the East even if J.O. was healthy. There’s a defending champion out there who just might be the team to beat.

I don’t want to watch Pacer basketball, but “D.Grange” & T.J. are worth it

yallallreadyknow says:
dumb trade for both teams.
how is larry bird keeping his job? you trade jermaine oneal and alls you get back in return is a lil punk like tj ford and the 17th pick?
fire this bird character already.
and for the rapts….
i’m not sure how this helps them. oneal is highly overpaid; what is that in canadian dollars?
oneal, bosh and barngani….is that the frontline your banking on for 82 games?
and now that there is no ford, does that mean this team is turning the reigns over to jose calderon?….might as well be carlos arroyo
June 26th, 2008 at 10:30 am
Brown says:
Now TJ gets his chance to be the man. Indiana doesn’t have a clear-cut go-to guy, and you know TJ is gonna have an even bigger chip on his shoulder. Thing is, now you’ll REALLY see how bad TJ is. He’s gonna be jackin shots up like there’s no tomorrow trying to prove to the Raptors that they made a mistake. Watching him crash and burn will provide me with entertainment all year long.
I feel sorry for Pacer fans. You better hope Bird doesn’t F up this draft.
June 26th, 2008 at 11:49 am
doc says:
At least Oneal got heart, something that team was lacking. But I got a feeling Jose gonna stink it up this year and all the fans gonna be pissed they traded TJ.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
johnsacrimoni says:
As much as I disagree with John Hollinger sometimes he actually breaks the trade down really well over at ESPN. If O’Neal is healthy, he will really help the Raptors. If not, his contract is two more years and can be used either as trade bait in the final year or cap relief.
June 27th, 2008 at 12:17 am
COME ON!!!!! says:
Like the trade, the Raps didn’t give up much for a player (if healthy) can really help them.

@ 24: For your info, calderon has the highest assists to turnover ratio in the game.
