Video of Brook Lopez’s T-Wolves Workout

IMAGE DESCRIPTION

It’s not exactly the stuff of legend (like mythical KG‘s pre-Draft workout coming out of high school), but it’s still a look into what happens at some of these individual workouts leading up to the NBA Draft. And it’s a chance to see Kevin McHale‘s post D.

Check it out here on the T-Wolves’ site.

Thanks to TrueHoop for posting the link this morning.

    weird how he talks…

  2. Celts Fan says:

    So the difference between this guy and Greg Kite, Curtis Borchardt, Greg Fuller, and every other really tall, really uncoordinated, really slow white guy would be…?

    Please oh please let him slide to and then be taken by the Knicks. MSG may need riot police

  3. yallallreadyknow says:

    why is kevin mchale still a gm? get rid of his ass.
    charles barkley said on tnt he wanna be a gm. make chucky prove himself in ‘sota

  4. djKianoosh says:

    @celts fan, HAHAH!! that’s hilarious..

    but i don’t know. I think he showed some decent post moves. there’s not that many strong post players out there. and you can’t teach height!

    all big men are a little awkward too, so it’s no big deal. you never know, the kid might actually be real good. he’s no athletic freak like KG but there’s only one KG anyway.

  5. kobeef says:

    Lopez is the best Center in the draft but I am not sure the Wolves need him. Unless Jefferson can step out of the low-post and play PF they will have trouble playing together.

    The Wolves really need an elite Guard or SF to help spread the D and let Al dominate..like Amare in PHX. Unfortunately that player is Rose and the Wolves aren’t getting him.

  6. Austin Burton says:

    This pick would have been so much easier for Minnesota if DeAndre Jordan had done SOMETHING in college to prove worthy of a Top-5 pick. Just a handful of good games would have done the trick.

  7. Celts Fan says:

    Agreed Austin, and the problem w/ Brook Lopez is that he’s not fluid, he’s not fast, he’s not a good athlete, and even though he’s got nice post moves, he has a really low release point. He seemed to have to work to get his shot up in college (HUGE red flag for a guy taller than just about everyone he played against.) I don’t see it. At least his brother seems to be a solid hustle guy. Brook doesn’t even have that…

  8. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

    No offense to anybody but what’s up with the “can’t teach height” saying. This has to be the most irritating reference that can be made when commenting on a players prospect at the next level. If there is any GM drafting on terms of height alone he shouldn’t be a GM.

  9. yallallreadyknow says:

    nah ‘spliff2mylou’

    worst saying in basketball is ‘make em earn it from the line’.
    that irritates me the most. make him earn it against no defense and giving him all the time he wants to shoot two free foul shouts?
    still makes no saying to me. i understand fouling a weak FT shooter…but they saying is just trash

  10. Gary Lee says:

    what’s the mythical KG workout all about?

  11. Celts Fan says:

    Yall, 2 FTs is earning more than an open layup, hence the (admittedly dumb) saying.

    KG’s 95 predraft workout, he apparently wowed scouts with a TON of skills that people didn’t know he had and famously, indignantly refused to take a break when offered one.

  12. Austin Burton says:

    My all-time least favorite saying: “It is what it is.”

    THAT DOESN’T EVEN MEAN ANYTHING!

  13. Diego says:

    @Austin:

    I love that saying–basically means it speaks for itself; don’t try to read anything into it.

    Or as an old basketball coach of mine used to say, “don’t think–it hurts the team.”

  14. d16 says:

    I agree, Austin. I fucking hate that saying! “It is what it is.” STFU!

  15. Kobeef says:

    @Austin

    I am really interested to see what happens with DeAndre Jordan in the individual workouts. He had a lame/weird season including being benched in the NCAA tourney but when you see him play he brings more to the table than Andrew Bynum did at the same age.

    If I was the Wolves GM I’d bring in Jordan for a workout and if he shows real effort and skill I’d think really hard about taking him at 3. If DeAndre is the next Tyson Chandler or Andrew Bynum McHale is going to be pretty pissed about missing the opportunity to match him and Jefferson in the froncourt.

    lopez sounds like a wwe wrestler on steroids and second of all do u think they pay mchale extra to train with these rookies?? the guy is like superman he does it all..too bad he is burning that organization the the ground

  17. shake&bake says:

    I don’t think Lopez is a top 5 (or maybe even 10) pick. I have a hard time seeing him develop into anything more than an expendable role player. I see him struggling to be anything more than that. I’m struggling to think of a good player in the league who is similar to him. U might as well take a chance on DeAndre Jordan becasue at least he has a big upside compared to Brook’s pretty low ceiling.
