Rondo is the Biggest Problem for Boston
There are times – like most of last night – where Rajon Rondo literally can’t be on the floor in these Finals. He’s not taking (or making) open shots, he’s turning the ball over, and he’s not making good decisions with the ball in his hands (remember the play we mentioned in Smack today where he passed a sure two on a layup to kick it out to Paul Pierce for a missed three?). With no reliable backup – Sam has turned into a gunner, E-House is one-dimensional and Tony Allen looks lost – the fact that they can’t keep Rondo on the floor is killing the Celtics. For a guy that we said was The Key to Boston’s season back in April, that’s not a great look.
Last night he played just 14 minutes, went 1-7 from the floor to finish with three points, two assists and two boards. He was clearly dejected, pissed, or both after the game. Check out the Boston Globe‘s video of his locker room interviews.

The injuries do not bode well for Boston. Losing Perkins means losing some of their size, rebounding, and toughness edge. Losing Rondo gives away their one great all around point guard. Not looking that great for them

Rondo was left wide, wide, wide, wide, wide open last night even when he had the ball. He has to atleast shoot those or he is hurting his team. Even if he misses that is better than playing 4 on 5. I didn’t even know who was assigned to Rondo because he was so wide open. Even if the C’s win the title Rondo needs to be traded or replaced at the starting spot

It won’t be too big of a deal at home. Rondo has yet two more days to get his feet back. The injury is clearly effecting him. House and Cassell will be fine gunning like they were…I actually thought they should have kept going to Sam-I-Am last night when he hit seven straight points and was punking Farmar. And House is more effective when he’s in front of the home crowd. Fisher hasn’t exactly been killing…so Rondo’s problems shouldn’t be too big of an issue come Tuesday.
I’d be more worried about Powe’s stinker since stepping in for Perkins. It just messes up the whole big man rotation.

this kid is not an NBA point guard. Decent backup maybe, but flawed in soooo many areas…

Man..harsh words coming to a guy that’s averaging. 10.6 pts, 5.1 assists, and 1.7 steals for the second year of his career from some Dime readers. Rondo gets 16 assists with 2 turnovers in game 2 of the NBA finals and he shouldn’t be in the league by some strange standard. LOL

Oy, Give the kid a break!
He played horribly last night and he HAS to shoot when he has the shot, but when he is healthy and with another year under his belt he has a very likely chance to be one of the top PG’s in the league. We are very fortunate to have him.

ray should be at the point, i know we lose some of his scoring but we need to get the ball over halfcourt. pp at the 2, posey at the 3, kg 4 and pj at the 5
and before someone gets on me ray played some stretches as the pg for the huskies back in the day. the only guys who can bring the ball up under pressure and make some shots are pp and ray ray
that leaves powe, allen, house and sam to come off the bench

Ok, OK, i have grown up with the guy and he’s def. not the case they people are making it seem so be, yes he’s had some shooting problems thru the years, and yes it was worse! but he is making strides to becoming a respectable shooter, but he knows his strengths, com’on 16 assits in a finals game, i dont kno too many pg’s that can pull that off, do i think he should pull up more yes, but he knows his strengths, SPEED, GOOD DECISIONS, and ATHLETIC ABILITY, other things will come in due time…plus he’s only twenty-two!
