Rajon Rondo Could Miss Games
Photo. Christian KozwyckIf you’ve seen Eddie House try to do anything other than shoot the basketball, you know this is not great news for the Celtics.
LOS ANGELES — Rajon Rondo turned his ankle at the start of the third quarter and left the game to a smattering of boos from Lakers fans. He returned to the game, but he was largely ineffective. He said afterwards he has pain on the inside of his ankle, which is a “different feeling” than he’s ever felt before.
“It’s difficult to go down in that situation and not be able to get back up,” said Rondo. “But I couldn’t bring the pressure, so I didn’t want to hurt my team by going out there and not being able to contribute.”
When asked if he thought the ankle would be a problem later in the series, Rondo gave an answer not likely to please Celtics fans.
“I don’t think it will be a big problem,” he said. “We’ll still be able to get the ball up the court, whether Eddie [House] brings it up or Paul [Pierce] or Ray [Allen], so I don’t think it will be a problem at all.”
Whether this means Rondo’s time will be limited with the injury is yet to be determined. We’ll have an update on Rondo’s injury at the team’s shootaround tomorrow afternoon.
Can Boston win if Rondo misses games?

Kermit the Washington says:
OH COME ON…THESE GUYS ARE NOT HURT, no one’s missing any games.
Notice how they’re STILL talking about Pierce’s knee injury? They showed a shot of him “limping” during the game and I was like OK that is quite enough! Just freakin play basketball. Rondo turned his ankle a LITTLE bit and I know it hurt, but he’s FINE.

That LA fan was right on when he yelled to the Celtics bench: “Someone get him a wheelchair!!” That was funny

LOL Pierce ruined it for the rest of his teammates who may actually be hurt. It’s plausible that Rondo is hurt, but no one really believes it. Now if they even say anything, it makes them look like they are faking even more.

i think the point that the tnt guys were making about letting kobe “gaurd” (sag off ridiculously) rondo was pretty good (because it allowed lakers to defend the postup a lot better), so it might not be as bad as it seems.. rondo did have his moments in game 3 though

Hey…didn’t Sam Cassell play PG on a Finals team 20 years ago?
Just sayin’, it’s not like the Celtics don’t have one of the more experienced big game backups in the league…

you obviously haven’t been watching much Octopus Jonny. That Sam Cassell is dead and gone, replaced by Wyatt Earp, the quickest gun in the west. Watch Sam play and keep track of how many possessions we have with him in and the number of times he takes a (typically forced) shot. It’s ridiculous…
Van Gundy brought up a great point that we’ve been asking for here in Boston all Playoffs (but of course Doc would never figure this out) is to play Ray, Pierce, and Posey together (Ray handling the PG duties, but everyone gets the ball anyway) which would work, but again, our coach is Doc Rivers.

*play Ray, Pierce and Posey as the 1-3, not going small.

Yea Boston can win without Rondo but he does add a different dimension in terms of D, speed and thought. Anyway Eddie House must not have a baby sitter cause ain’t that his lil kid that be running around courtside on every time-out.
Is he like the good luck mascot or something. Makes me wish my dad was a NBA player so I could just be all on the sideline.

Oh, I definitely have seen Yosemite Sam blasting shots left and right. I’m saying that he has the ability to come in facilitate and offense, but in this series he hasn’t really been asked to run the offense and has just been jacking.
