After the Pistons reportedly turned down a trade offer from Denver that would have brought Carmelo Anthony to Detroit, there are rumors today that the Pistons may be interested in Josh Smith.
The deal would most likely have to be a sign-and-trade, because Smith is looking for a monster free agent deal that the Hawks may not be willing to take on. You can bet that Tayshaun Prince would at least one part of the deal, making Smith a serious athletic upgrade at that 3/4 spot for a decidedly un-athletic Detroit team. You can’t help but think adding Smith to the mix (even at the expense of losing Prince and maybe even Chauncey Billups would make Detroit a scary team.

Uhm... says:
prince and rasheed for childress and marvin would be absolutely horrible!!! that’d be the most undersized front court in the nba! it is not a baby the hawks would take that deal, the pistons would not offer that trade in the first place, or at least i’d hope not!

fallinup says:
I’m afraid that I’d have to take Smith for Prince and even Billups if I were Joe D. Smith is an athletic upgrade to the max. And the Pistons D as a whole would be tight. To get Smith, yeah…I’d give Stuckey the driver’s keys.
Fear Motown if this were to go down.

his punk ass couldn’t even make a lefty layup.
how about the pistons moving rip hamilton and tayshaun prince to houston for tracy mcgrady and shane battier?
or detroit trading rip hamilton to charlotte for jason richardson?
or the hawks moving josh smith to phoenix for amare stoudamire?

Brown says:
What would Atlanta do with Bibby and Billups? Do you split time or get rid of one of them? I’d keep them both for a while just in case of injuries, but that’s a lot of money for one position. Atlanta still lacks size and skill at the 4-5.

no way in hell sheed goes back to atlanta. when he was traded for shareef abdur rahim and theo ratliff, he played ONE game fo them. that was his first and last he’ll play in atlanta.

Yoooo says:
Grant Hill wasn’t a high flyer? Somebody get this young man some footage and a milk shake…
If the pistons traded Billups to the Hawks the Pistons aren’t scary anymore. The Hawks are! Bibby bum ass is trade bait again and maybe they could snatch a formidable center. Move Horford to the 4. A lineup of Billups, Johnson, Prince, Horford and a defensive/rebounding 5 is SuPER legit. And they’d still have the young boys coming off the bench.
If Zaza is still in ATL I guess hed be good enough to fill that role. but I never liked moneys game

grant hill is a bitch. i used to like him, but he is just a puss now. especially after the way he played himself in orlando.

Kobeef says:
Atlanta is not trading Smith for Rasheed and Prince…get off that -ish Joe D.
After last year’s playoffs Josh could get them a franchise player in return if they tried. I’d try for Amare if I was the ATL GM and go with Horford at the 4, Amare at the 5 Marvin at the 3 and JJ and Bib in the backcourt.
Marvin looked unimpressive least year but he is the 4th or 5th option on offense and could do more if Smith wasn’t there.

Wow people that call grant hill a “bitch” haven’t seen him play in his prime. please just youtube grant hill and think about what could have been if it wasn’t for those numerous ankle injuries. how is he a puss if he continues to work and try to come back after each and every set back?
June 23rd, 2008 at 1:27 pm
yallallreadyknow says:
ummm
grant hill is a bitch and a puss for the way he STOLE money from the orlando magic!!
no one sits out 5 YEARS because of an ankle…FIVE YEARS?!!? they signed him ofr..ahem…$93 MILLION and he barely played. he saw mcgrady was on the come-up and he went into straight bitch mode and didnt wanna suit up.
then in his LAST YR of a contract with the magic, hill somehow manage to get healthy enough to play a few games.
then he signed with phoenix. ??? why not re-sign wiht orlando? all the magic did was stand by you while you were hurt and out. they continued to pay you and help you rehab
…but NO. hill went to phoenix and all of a sudden was playing 35 minutes a night. something he could have done 3yrs ago, but didnt want to in orlando.
he criticized the team for trading for steve francis. he didnt wanna play with him.
and fast forward to today and hill is suddenly healthy.
that my friend(s) is what makes grant hill a bitch ass puss..
…i dont need youtube to tell me shit i already know
June 23rd, 2008 at 1:39 pm
Kobeef says:
@Y’all
I have to agree - Grant is not an ass for his early career - where he was very good - but leaving Orlando after they paid you $93million to get healthy is pretty cold.
This is especially true because the Magic really need a starting SG.
I am not sure if Grant was invited back to Orlando or not, but if he was he should be prepared to take any smack he gets for cashing those cheques and leaving.
June 23rd, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Lady Luck says:
Grant Hill was an absolute BEAST when he was in Detroit. BEFORE he went to Orlando. The reason he hurt his ankle in the first place was because he took Detroit to the playoffs and played on it while it was BROKEN. Look it up. Then after multiple surgeries, mis-diagnosis’,and a staph infection that could have killed him, he was finally able to get it right. Grant Hill was ROBBED of a beautiful career. But his days in Detroit he was a monster on the court.

Kermit the Washington says:
DANG! Well….this is dope too…but I really wanted Josh Smith to go to LA…they would be nasty with him. So would detroit. Both my 2 favorite teams, so it’s good for me either way. Long as dude don’t end up in Cleveland or Phoenix, I’m good…
June 23rd, 2008 at 2:48 pm
Spliff 2 My Lou says:
I can’t see anyway the Suns would trade Amare for Josh Smith unless Amare is unhappy in Phoenix. It’s not really an upgrade and the salaries would be similar so they wouldn’t be cutting costs that much.

Whoever suggested Prince and Wallace for Childress and M.Williams is a fucking idiot.
Who in their right mind would send Price packing for Childress?
And how does Wallace for M.Williams help the Pistons?
You’re obviously never gonna be a GM, but do you mind keeping these stupid ass suggestions to yourself?

he had good/great years in detroit, but that was it. he a bitch ass puss for stealing from the magic.
he did what shaq did this year; hurt when the team sucks, but suddenly healthy after a trade or when the team gets good again.
blazemcherb
i suggested the pistons/hawks trade. if you got a problem with it…go kick rocks bitch.
how about trading kwame brown for pau gasol?…hmmm i think that happened already; so much for your ’stupid ass suggestions’ critique. these types of trades happen.
just like ray allen for wally, delonte and a bitch ass #5 pick.
turn your keyboard over or go post on the wnba site. bitch.

Yo u contradictory ass dick lickers. If you had a job that you signed a contract for for even $100 you broke ass niggas gonna expect your 100 buck regardless of if u get sick and are unable to finish the job too. Half of you take days off from work without being sick but you still wanna get compensated. So don’t get mad cuz he got a paid leave of absence to feed his family when I know you would too. Your pay scale is just a fraction of his so you think its more acceptable, cuz your booty ass company (who no one cares about) is not nearly as relevant as a NBA franchise.

Dan says:
Grant Hill isnt a puss. He will go down as one of the best players to ever wear the Detroit Pistons Uniform. He has always been a gentleman of the game. He didnt want to leave Detroit without the Pistons getting anything in return so he worked out a sign and trade for Ben Wallace. I feel that Josh Smith will have the same impact as Ben Wallace did. To loose Tayshaun Prince will be tough for Detroit but at the same time you have Smith who is super Athletic with alot of room to get better. He will be a 25 and 10 man in Detroit to go with 2.5-3 blocks a game. Detroit will be dangerous and will put fear in peoples eyes just as Boston did and to me Boston wasnt that great. Only a 3 man team. No disrespect to them. They are the Champs but everyone knew Detroit was the better team.

damn i would take tayshaun and chauncey for melo in a minute! nuggets are stupid as hell.
and then they try to send iverson instead? damn i can’t see AI in Detroit. Him and Sheed? It seems weird.
Damn Nuggets should have taken Tayshaun. They need a player like him badly.

Regarding Josh Smith? The 6′9″ forward? He should be brought to the Lakers for Lamar Odom, DJ Benga, and third player. Tayshaun Prince for Vlad Radmonovic and Luke Walton and acquire mid level cap signing of Ron Artest. No more ass tasting. Jesus at least let’s make a equal trade of L.O. for Shawn Marion…Odom… You had your chance!!!

tim says:
if Josh Smith ends up on Detroit……..I won’t be able to stop smiling….as long as you can keep Sheed. That would be sick.
Billups/Prince for Smith…
Here is projected starting lineup with some predicted averages
Stuckey (13 ppg/5 assist per)
Hamilton (20 ppg)
Smith (18 ppg/ 7 rebounds, 2.5 blocks)
Maxiell (10ppg/ 8 rebounds, 2 blocks)
Wallace…(4-15 ppg, 7 rebounds, 1.5 blocks)
good night East.
i do think that Joe D wants to move Tayshaun because he doesn’t seem to have it in the playoffs.
What about Billups/Hamilton to Houston for TMAC? Probably wouldn’t work under the cap.
Stuckey
T Mac
Prince
Maxiell
Sheed
that would be nice too.
