yeah i reckon some people have got it right - some wrong. my 2 cents is PP went down and hurt his knee, probably had never felt that sensation in is knee before and waay over-reacted. seriously it was like he'd been shot. tough? nah, dude has been fortunate not to get injured, wince carter would have done the same. they'd never miss a chance to get a standing O from the croud by making a dramatic return to the floor. PP should have just said - yeah i freaked out... it's all good - bit sore, lets forget it and continue the rest of the series. like i said, just my 2 cents.

Man ok maybe it wasn't fake..but dude sure fuckin blew it up like he's dying or something..If PP was so tough...he would have tried to walk it off to the tunnel by himself instead getting carried off in a wheel chair. then magically came out skipping like a little girl out the tunnel and played good like nothing happened.

This "double standard" argument has been brought up countless times before. And somehow, I don't feel like it will be the last. Yah, yah, yah...white musicians can get a sold out concert going with crazy mosh-pit stuff going on, and it's all good....if a hip-hop thing gets sold out, you get a minor scuffle going, the po-po comes to shut the whole thing down. We heard this all before.

All I can say is, if you don't like it, DO something about it. Venting about it on the Dime smack boards won't get you nothing. This double standard is a perception--a perception by sports fans, a perception by whites, a perception by American society as a whole. This double standard won't change on its own. I won't take the bait here and get into an argument of how this all started (Google it and I'm sure you'll find your Mark).

You don't like it, DO something. Do you vote? Good. Get your boys to vote as well. Do you better your community? Inspire others to better theirs? Seems like it's a big task? It is.

But hey, you'll do a lot more to reverse this double-standard than by just bitching about it.

Peace.

And P.S.: Celtics in 6.

@ Yooooo

You're right, there is a double standard regarding fighting in the NBA compared to other white dominated sports like MLB and NHL. The Pistons-Pacers brawl a few years ago changed everything in the NBA. Before that, fighting in a game would only get a player a game or two suspension. But after that moment in time when Ron Artest punched the fan and started a fans vs players brawl, it is not going to be tolerated. It sucks, but you can thank the shitty fan(s) in Detroit and/or Ron Artest for making fighting in the NBA so unacceptable.

@word -- I think Collins saw that Reinsdorf was hesitant to hire him, so rather than be told "We don't want you," he pulled out. Kind of like quitting before you get fired.

@Yoooo -- I agree with you. Baseball "brawls" (which are usually just guys standing around looking menacingly at each other) are given a mostly positive/light-hearted view. It's either "something that brings the team together." And most brawls are started because a pitcher threw at someone's head, which is seen as "protecting your teammate." Do the same views apply to basketball, football or other sports more populated by Black players? Of course not. A brawl or even a minor fight is met with harsh punishment, and intentional fouls (equivalent of throwing a baseball at someone) aren't seen positively unless you're Kevin McHale.

Youngfed...

I'm the first to tell someone who doesn't like what a musician or tv or radio personality has to say to just not listen/watch/tune in, etc.... but I have to call you out. You're ignorant. All you do is hate (with horrible grammar, by the way), and your jokes aren't funny. When somebody disagrees with you, you invariably just respond with profanity about you're accuser being an internet bitch or whatever. Do you know the definition of irony? Probably not. While I've been reading smack since the days of hoopstv.com, I've rarely felt the need to post a comment, but you've been drivig me crazy recently. I held off throughout the pistons series, but there is no reason for your PP hatred, aside from the fact that he's more successful and more well liked than you.

C'mon youngfed. Grow up.
