Dwyane Wade, Tayshaun Prince and Michael Redd are Officially IN
Photo. MannionThe roster is rounding out. Apparently Jerry Colangelo liked what he saw out of Dwyane Wade when he went to see him in Chicago last week because Wade is IN.
Reportedly, Tayshaun Prince and Michael Redd are both in as well.

From other sites I see our big men as Howard, Bosh, and Boozer. Is that enough size???

Brandon Hoffman says:
I’m surprised that Prince made the cut. Again, the international game is physical. Prince is a good defender but he’s anything but physical. I don’t see how he’ll get any minutes backing up Melo and LeBron.

Dime Magazine says:
Should we be worried about not having Tyson Chandler? I think I might rather have him than Bosh.

Yeah those are three names that will instill fear in the opposing countries. And no jonny drama I don’t think that’s enough size. Boozer flaked out in the playoffs. If you can’t bring your a game for the playoffs how are you going to bring it for the olympics. Bosh is too soft. Howard brings you toughness and rebounding but not much offense. Prince is a role player at best on this team. Redd brings shooting but what good is shooting if he’s on the bench. You have to question Colangelo’s choices. It’s no wonder the past two U.S. squads are not referred to as the Dream Team anymore.

Brandon Hoffman says:
@Dime – I’d take Tyson over Bosh too. I think we’re going to see LBJ play a lot of power forward. If that’s the case, I’d prefer we solidified the center position. Howard is the obvious choice as starter, but who’s his backup?

Spliff 2 My Lou says:
I like Chandler at the back up center too. He already has chemistry with Paul. They could run pick and rolls all day assuming the opponents aren’t stuck in a zone all game. I would love to see them hooking up for alley oops all game.

Spliff 2 My Lou says:
Why doesn’t the U.S. concentrate more on rebounding the ball after it has hit the rim even if it is the cylinder? I realize it’s not part of American ball but it’s allowed so why not take advantage. I’d put Howard in the middle right near the front of the basket and have him eat shots and pull the ball off the rim all game.

Tyson definitely over soft Bosh. The international big guys will beat up Bosh (who I think looks soft in the NBA too). I would take Tyson over Boozer for Olympic team purposes too.
Prince and Wade: Poor choices. I don’t know what Prince brings to the table for the team, except he is a winner–going back to his Kentucky Wildcat days.
As someone previously said, Wade’s bull in the china shop routine won’t cut it in the Olympics because the international refs don’t give foul-preference to guys like Wade or LeBron when they drive to the well–unlike in the NBA!

Spliff 2 My Lou says:
Not only do international refs not give foul preference to stars they also call traveling. Wade, Kobe and Lebron are all huge offenders of traveling even though the NBA refs do not call traveling often. We’ll see how often it’s called in the olympics.

dwyane wade is one of the best basketball players in the world; he sure as hell should be on the team.
and he practically took the year off; dude is rested and ready to go. he can anchor a 2nd unit.
we knew mike redd was gonna make it.
as for prince…i dunno. was this the best the olympic committee could come up with? I wanted this slot to go to joe johnson.

That would be the optimized team for USA in international play with the selection they have right now. Paul is too small Williams ain’t got the 3 pointer to keep teams occupied with him on the outside. Prince isn’t physical enough. Chandler apart from a great defensive athletic presence has no post skills whatsoever. He’s dwight howard without the bulk.(yes howard improved on the inside but his jump hook or bank shot ain’t automatic so he ain’t a complete center just yet). I don’t know about bosh either but amare probably talked himself out of his spot about his knees ‘n all. My suggestion won’t be the team but this is what I believe in for team USA to win the olympics. cuzz it’s gonna be a bumpy road just getting to the finals…

The Mitten says:
Confirmed players (9): (Kidd, Kobe, LeBron, Melo, Dwight, CP3, Wade, Redd, Tayshaun)
On the bubble: (Boozer, Bosh, Chandler, Amare, Deron)
I’d take Boozer, Chandler, Amare.
Bosh is soft & we prob don’t need 3 PG’s (Deron). Wade, Kobe, & Bron can handle & distribute the rock too.

AB-40,
Williams “ain’t got the 3-pointer”? I hope you’re joking. He is a far better 3-point shooter than Chris Paul.

Deron is as money as they come.
I’m curious as to what type of Melo we will see. Many see the red/white/blue and remember his brilliance in recent International play. I see the talented and passionless bum I saw all season long with the Nuggets.
I’m thinking it’ll be more like the latter, but I guess we’ll see.
