Lakers/Celtics Game Four Halftime Notes
* Can you imagine if Lamar Odom played like this all the time? He’s seven-for-seven from the field for 15 points, to go with 8 boards and 3 assists. It’s not like he’s unconsciously hitting fadeaway jumpers from 18-feet. L.O. is simply doing things that we all know he’s very capable of: sinking open J’s and knifing past defenders for lay-ups. If this were the norm, what would he be? A perennial All-Star? An All-NBA selection?
* Every team has that one guy that nobody wants on the floor. For the Knicks in the late ’90′s it was Rick Brunson – he was good for 3 points and 4 turnovers every time he left the bench. Has Eddie House become that guy in Boston? Granted he doesn’t turn the ball over nearly as much as Brunson did, but his stat line stinks: 1-5 shooting for 2 points in five minutes.
* What do you think of Van Gundy‘s comparison between Kobe and Steve Nash? Some of those snap-passes from the paint to Trevor Ariza, Vlad Radmanovich and Sasha Vujacic behind the three-point line are unmistakably Nash-esque. Bryant doesn’t have a field goal, but he’s been the biggest part of L.A.’s offense (6 assists). In drive-and-dish, facilitator mode, Kobe led the Lakers to score 11 field goals on 10 assists in the first quarter, and 19 field goals on 15 assists in the half.
* How sick is the Magic/Bird ‘There Can Only Be One’ commercial? Seriously, chills.
* With a 58-40 lead, the first half looked more like a one-sided hockey fight than a basketball game. The Lakers virtually pulled the Celts’ jerseys over their eyes and beat the snot out of them. After Jordan Farmar‘s running-bank-three, a shot that he wouldn’t be able to reproduce in a game of H-O-R-S-E, the look on the Celtics’ faces was as if they were just given an atomic wedgie.

The C’s didn’t come to play. Maybe they are partying in Lala land to much. Game 5 definitely will be on point, I think.

Whats up with taking a shot at the Knicks and Rick Brunson? You knew I wouldn’t stand for that.

Myrie says:
Don’t be surprised with Lamar; he’s a top 15-25 player in the NBA. His output in the first half is NOT surprising…nor is Kobe’s.
Expect the Celtics to win game 5…then expect the Lakers to win game 6 in Boston. Kobe will go for 49pts.
…so expect a game 7 in this series. Too soon to tell what will transpire in game 7

Nash-esque, eh ?
If Nash had played this badly, this series, Scottie Pippen would be all over him, saying how he didn’t deserve the MVP.
