NBA Finals Game 6 Halftime Notes
KB24 (photo. Chris Sembrot)* The Kobe montage from his first-quarter destruction was even more impressive than what he did in game five. And his second quarter disappearing act equally silent.
* The Celtics truly deserved that standing ovation from the crowd as the clock ticked under a minute. Their ball movement was immaculate – Pierce (10 points, 9 assists) orchestrated the attack and everything that left KG‘s hands fell through the rim (17 points, 5 assists) – it doesn’t get much prettier.
* Coming into tonight, one of the biggest concerns for the Lakers faithful was whether they would continue to keel over and die defensively on Boston’s pick and roll. Doc hasn’t really incorporated one of Boston’s big bodies in the on-ball screens, but the pick-and-pop play with Pierce and Eddie House has resulted in a bunch of open looks. Less time on the triangle, more time on hedging, Phil.
* What was up with Kurt Rambis in the background of that shot of Phil Jackson giving a pre-game speech? Was he stretching his groin and yawning?
* The possession of the half: With the Celtics up 32-29, Big Baby, Pierce and Posey all fought like dogs for an offensive board. After they settled the offense, Sasha Vujacic, who has turned from a defensive stopper into a defensive bone-head in this series, totally committed to Eddie House thereby leaving Posey wide open for a corner trey. He sunk it. Then Big Baby got a steal and House buried a triple back at the other end to put Boston up 38-29. Conservatively, that’s an 8-point swing.
* Vlad Radmanovich is living up to expectations as the “Space Cadet.” He’s earned his spot on the bench with a 0-1 FG, 0 points, 3 fouls stat line after committing an “inexplicable” foul, giving Pierce two freebies towards the end of the half.
* “I expect us to come out even harder in the second half,” said Pierce before heading into the locker room.

things i wont miss when the nba finals are over tonight
1. The Taco Bell rappers…. white boys, it turns out can be very cheap…and untalentedly annoying.
2. The constant waiting for one team to finally play a complete game
3. “That one guy” sitting courtside at each game who knows more about the game than you and I
and stands up and shouts his expertise at everyone who will listen
4. The Players Parking Lot attendant guy commercials…
5. Seeing the cerebrally challenged thespians making an appearance at the Staples Center…
Goodbye Lakers… it was a fun ride.
By the way, the highlight moment of the entire series was Paul Pierce ending his interview with
Michelle Tafoya at the conclusion of Game 4 by calling her “baby”… it was a very tender, touching
moment.
LA’s other pro team debuts in just a little more than 2 months when the Trojans open up the 2008
football season at Virginia.

Ive never witnessed defence like Boston played in the first half, boy oh boy!
But we’ve seen insane comebacks every other game this series. But i was nice to see no kidding around by Boston on their way into the locker room.

Well first off congrats to Celtics, they deserved it.
played with more heart and desperation.
Lakers just didn’t have a clue how to defend no matter how many times they get burned by the same play. Let’s not even talk about hitting shots.
Very disappointing to say the least how the Lakers layed down this game.
Maybe next season with Bynum healthy, maybe.
