Sam I Am says:
Not toooo sure about Mayo but whatever…rebuilding takes time
June 17th, 2008 at 11:45 am
doc says:
Mayo gonna be nice Sam.I’ll take Dont Greene with that pick.

Daily boy says:
They got My Boy DJ going to the Knicks, that’s wzup I don’t know if that’s really giong to happen but it will be a good look for them to have a solid point guard to start this new era

Kobeef says:
This mock is a mess.
I don’t see how OJ Mayo improves ‘Sota that much because they already have McCants and Foye which are very close to Mayo (McCants is actually a better athlete and bigger)
Also, Seattle already has two point guards in Watson and Ridnour who are not great but neither is Bayless (I mean he went to Point Guard U and he still can’t make plays).
Kevin Love at 5? Why don’t they just trade for Mark Madsen if they want an overpaid PF. There are many better options at 5 than Love. Memphis really needs a good PF and a better C and guys like Serge Ibaka and DeAndre Jordan are good options for a team that is not going to complete for a few years.
Brook Lopez will not fall to Charlotte and Brandon Rush is much better than 23.

Celts Fan says:
Bill Walker at 22 before CDR and Brandon Rush and Kyle Weaver in the high 20s made me close this immediately. Lost all credibility…
also, where’s Serge Ibaka? He’s basically a lock for the 1st round at this point, right?
June 17th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
Celts Fan says:
Kobeef, I really like Bayless A LOT. Next to Durant, he can be a Gilbert Arenas type PG (and let’s be real, both of Seattle’s pgs are backups, good backups, but backups.) What I don’t get was that I’ve been hearing they are almost guaranteed to take Ibaka at 24. Not only does he have monster potential, but they can stash him overseas next year and pi$$ off Seattle even more (sorry AB.)
June 17th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Kobeef says:
@Celts
I really don’t like Bayless. Has has not shown that he can be a PG and he is quite undersized for a SG with a very short (6’3) wingspan. He’s going to have a tough time getting his shot off in the NBA. If he won’t be able to score like he did in college and he doesn’t make plays, what exactly does Bayless bring to the table? He’s fast?
Ibaka is the sleeper of the draft. The guy is the second coming of Shawn Kemp with a more advanced offensive skill set. He is a legit 6’10 and has a 40+ inch vertical and can score on turnarounds, threes, dunks, etc.
I’d really like to see Memphis take Ibaka and pair him with Rudy. Hands down that would be the most athletic frontcourt combo in the league.

Spliff 2 My Lou says:
There are no gurantees with drafts especially in the NBA even with Rose or Beasley. Any player put in the right situation can have an impact. I’m a die hard Bulls fan and I can’t bring myself to have an opinion on who to draft. I can see Rose and Beasley both be great players, I can see them be good players, and I can see them flop. You just never know. It’s all potential and luck. That’s why they call it the lottery.
On a similar note you can’t measure the Jordan/Tiger Woods factor of a player. That is who has the drive to be the best and work hard at remaining the best. There’s no way of knowing who has it. You just draft who you like and hope it plays out in the end.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
Celts Fan says:
true Kobeef, but they say Bayless (in this article actually!) has a really high jump when he takes jumpers, so that should let him get his shot off, and on a team with Durant and Jeff Green (2 capable ball handlers who’ll do plenty of bringing it up, play making, etc.) I think he could excel.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:14 pm
MoxWestCoastRep says:
I agree w celts fan- Bayless is legit and would be a lethal combo w KD.
I think K-love is gonna surprise a lot of people and Mayo has bust written all over him
June 17th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
doc says:
And Randy Foye and Mcants aint fucking with Mayo.Watch and see.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Celts Fan says:
Mox, OJ may not be what he’s been billed as for the past 5 years, but at worst (assuming his head’s in the right place, which by EVERYTHING coming out of USC – except the money thing, which we can all understand – it absolutely is in the right place) he’ll be a solid defender with some scoring punch. I think he becomes a top level 2 guard. Maybe not HOF, but a few AS teams at least…
June 17th, 2008 at 2:53 pm
Kobeef says:
@Doc
I’ll watch, you’ll see.
I think Mayo ends up in Miami with Wade in the backcourt (after some trades).
I don’t think Pat Riley is convinced about Beasley and Marion and Haslem are proven NBA players who will need to ride the bench if Beasley is gonna play – can’t see it.
Miami still needs a 5 but with Mayo and Wade in the Backcourt they will be nice.
June 17th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Brown says:
Bayless is the same height as Ben Gordon, and he has no trouble getting his shot off.
Mayo may not be a superstar, but he’ll be a very good player on both sides of the ball. What have Foye and McCants done in the past two years? They can’t even stay healthy. Adding Mayo will give them some depth at the 1 and 2, and will make for a pretty good rotation. That’s a decent backcourt to build with.
Bill Walker will probably slip out of the first round, especially with his recent injury. Dude has health concerns.
Chalmers shouldn’t get past Cleveland, if Danny Ferry is smart. Unless he thinks he can get a PG through a trade or FA. Although I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to just ride it out with his flawed roster.
The Magic should take CDR or Rush.
I’m surprised how all these mock drafts have Joey Dorsey lower than 40. Someone should pick him up early in the second round.

rangerjohn says:
here is my “rediculous draft suggestion” for the day
spurs trade tony parker to chi town for the #1 pick. now there would have to be a couple of others involved but this would be the “focal point” then the spurs take rose #1 and put him along side duncan and manu. he defends better then parker, shoots better, but isnt as fast and doesnt know the system.
then with the other players involved the spurs can drop some guys, or trade them off. this would free up cap space for a player like brand or josh smith.
so there suck on those 4 more titles lmao
June 17th, 2008 at 4:45 pm
Yoooo says:
Is Augustin really a better prospect than Jameer Nelson was coming out of college?
June 17th, 2008 at 5:29 pm
kobeef says:
@Brown
Do your homework.
Ben Gordon’s wingspan is 6’9.
Bayless’ wingspan is 6’2.5″
6 inches makes a big difference.
Eric Gordon (ironically) is a better comparison to Ben than Bayless. Bayless is Nate Robinson (6’1 wingspan) with a taller body.

dh says:
Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, O.J. Mayo, Jerryd Bayless, Kevin Love, D.J. Augustin, Russell Westbrook, Eric Gordon are all thought to go in the top 10…
Of these, who will be a bust?
June 17th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
giacomo says:
@ ranger john
are you retarded? or was that a joke?
there is NO WAY IN HELL that chicago would trade that #1 for anyone less than a perennial allstar still in his prime. think about it. they are a young team with potential to grow so their prime as a team is yet to come, they have time to let rose/beasley develop.
thats just crazy talk, think about it, if you were chicago who would you trade the pick for? here is my list (assuming a one-for one trade with fillers);
-kobe
-lebron
- dwight howard
- chris paul
-deron williams
-kevin durant
-greg oden
- MAYBE tim duncan ( i only say maybe because he is clearly in decline- while he will still be good. chicago might make this trade but SAS would be crazy too)
plus when you consider the contracts that chi would have to involve to trade for a big-name player (mostly VERY bad contracts) any team would be pretty silly to go for it.
YOU ONLY TRADE POTENTIAL BRILLIANCE FOR POTENTIAL OR PROVEN BRILLIANCE. no.1 rule.
that being said, chicago fans; who would you be happy to trade the #1 for?
June 17th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
rangerjohn says:
giacomo
apparently you are the one that is retarded. there is no way in hell the spurs would trade tony parker (not even to his prime) for some kid who has really not even proven himself. pop doesnt like playing young guys so why would he trade someone he BUILT for someone who is 1 young, 2 un proven, and 3 might never even reach what tony has done to day in his entire career.
read the 1st line in my post knuckle head!
buuuhhhh bye
June 17th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
rangerjohn says:
and by the way, you are an idiot for even half ass thinking duncan in “clearly in decline” all i can say about that, duncan averaged 25 points, and 18 rebounds against the combo of lamar odom AND pau gasol, but your right he is “clearly in decline”
go back in the hole you came from
June 18th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Drew Wonder aka Optimus Dime says:
Duncan is in decline physically compared to his younger days. he plays more using his smarts than before, but that is typical of most great players. He still is a great player but is in the 2nd half of his career.
also K-LOve will be better than what most people think his potential is. i can see him as a Borderline all-star.
also Jazz fans(and basketball fans in general) checkout my website,
freewebs.com/UTScore
it’s still under construction, but i put up some of my Jazz draft thoughts up on there.
by the way i’m a laker fan and i just happens to live in utah.
