Artest Wants to Interview Brawl Instigator

IMAGE DESCRIPTIONArtest

Ron Artest is a man of many trades. Lockdown defender. Kings leader. K1X cover boy. Hip-hop artist (his album ‘My World’ dropped in October ’06). And more recently, he’s been working on his interviewing skills on Sacramento’s KHTK radio (Sports talk, AM 1140).

Artest has done roughly five interviews to date – including a gem with Kobe Bryant – it’s definitely worth watching for no other reason than to see Artest show his real admiration for Mamba. But Ron-Ron’s next episode will be leagues more interesting – he’s hoping to interview John Green, the infamous beer-thrower who instigated the 2004 brawl at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

“Apparently, Green has already been tracked down and appears to be on board with the plan,” writes Kings beat writer Sam Amick. “No date has been set, but the buzz grew enough that Fox’s Best Damn Sports Show caught wind of it and wanted Artest to do the interview in their LA studio. Artest, who has grown so comfortable in the studio of KHTK’s Carmichael Dave as his unofficial co-host recently, wants to do it in “his” house and Best Damn may be sending a video crew to capture the magic.”

In his most recent Q&A with teammate Spencer Hawes, Artest asked the rook what he would have done if he was hit with a beer while he was on the free throw line.

“I probably wouldn’t go into the stands to go after them,” said Hawes. “That probably wouldn’t be what I’d do. That’d be a tough one.”

The very mention of Green changed Ron’s demeanor from that easy affability on display in the Kobe interview into something that you’d see on the Jerry Springer show. This will be interesting.

Anything is an improvement over his rapping.

  2. Damon says:

i don’t care what this guy does, can’t forgive him for destroying my team that was build for contention for years.

I love Ron Artest as a player. He’s entertaining as a person even though it might not be in the most positive way. This interview should be done on WWE Raw and they should let Artest kick his ass. I (and a lot of people in Chicago) still think about what the Bulls could have done with a frontcourt of Artest, Elton Brand, and Brad Miller.

  4. Celts Fan says:

so Ron Ron wants a rematch? against the right guy this time? nice…

honestly, what are the chances Artest doesn’t flip out? Let’s put it this way, if I’m the Kings, I’ve already hired a lawyer, you know, just in case…

  5. yallallreadyknow says:

put them in the cage and let em brawl MMA style.
instead of that cbs kimbo/ear nonesense, the can broadcast it on espn2
…they dont run anything else good on that channel. might as well have johnny green and ronny artest inside the cage.
joey crawford as the ref. they could have it inside the palace; since it aint being used for nothin else right now

  11. Celts Fan says:

umm, Shoeless Joe Jackson? Pete Rose? Roger Clemens/Barry Bonds? and the RUNAWAY winner: OJ Simpson.

Mike’s definitely in that group though, and it’s VERY sad what’s happened to/with him, but there have been plenty of other screw ups.

  12. 2 Easy says:

I 2nd that Damon. Pacers were ready to get Reggie that title and contend for several more years and now they have to start from scratch

  13. jimmhumm says:

Just make sure theren’t any cups in that room. We don’t need Ron to have a flash back…wait a minute Ron is already crazy. If I was that dude I’d stay away from Artest.

  14. Gee...I got this! says:

If you wanna get the real starter of it all let him interview Ben Wallace.

    Done.
