Who is the Most Presidential?
MikeBy now we all know about Barack Obama’s basketball background. In history we’ve had six U.S. Presidents who’ve played college football, and in a few months could have the first to have played college hoops, but so far there’s never been a pro athlete in the bunch.
Of today’s living pros and ex-pros, who is the most presidential? Who could actually have a shot if they chose to go that route? Of course there’s Bill Bradley, who made a good run at the Democratic party nomination in 2000. Kevin Johnson is currently running for mayor of Sacramento. Indiana congressman Baron Hill played D-1 ball at Furman and has been inducted in the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, but he never went pro. And Charles Barkley keeps threatening to run for governor of Alabama, and has actually become respected in some circles for his political opinions.
Does Michael Jordan have the goods for a career in politics? What about Grant Hill? Magic Johnson? Mark Price? Joe Dumars? Chris Paul? Who do you think could become the next Bradley or Obama post-retirement?

Jordan’s interesting, because on one hand it would be hard for him to get into politics since he doesn’t stand for anything, yet on the other hand he is also very “politician-like” because he doesn’t stand for anything.

No way for MJ. Far too many skeletons in his closet (the ladies, the gambling etc.)
You need someone who is squeeky clean. Grant Hill would be perfect- he has a good image, Well spoken, the Duke pedigree and a clean look. And ont hat note- GH can probably do anything he wants when he retires….Coach, analyst, front office etc.
As for who I think would do a good job- Magic. He has the business savvy I like in a politician.

I would have to say Chris Paul. People would really rally around him like they have in New Orleans. He cares about the city, the people, and the environment. He is nice enough to help the old lady cross the street and nasty enough to fight of the bad guys. In 5 years he could definetly hold it down after Obama.
