After 34 consecutive years of calling NCAA Final Four games, CBS has decided to replace Billy Packer. The NCAA Tourney will still have play-by-play from Jim Nantz, and Clark Kellogg is slated to take Packer’s spot.
I know the general public seems to have extreme dislike for Packer. His act during the selection show every year, ripping the selection committee and teams that get into the tourney that he feels are undeserving, is something you can bank on every March. And I would agree that his commentary during games can border on obnoxious. Personally, I don’t have a problem with him, but I think it’s a great move to get Kellogg in there. It’s unfortunate that we really only get to hear from Clark during the NCAA Tournament.
Do you like Billy Packer? Why do you think fans seem to have such a problem with him? Do you agree with his removal?

get rid of fudgie? they can’t do that! obviously he’s annoying to hear and i hate listening to him commentate, but he’s like an icon for cbs! it’d be like getting rid of dick clark for the new year’s celebration; he should be removed cuz he can’t perform his job properly now, but he’s someone people identify the program with

I never forgot him calling Iverson a “tough monkey.”

Totally forgot about the Iverson thing back in the day … that was very bad.

Billy Packer is a homer and plays favorites with his commentary. He’s very one-sided when calling a game or speaking about a player/coach.
I am not against replacing him. But please correct yourself, he is NOT an icon.
Dick Clark for New Years celebration?….wow. Where have you been? Dick Clark is on his last breath….
As for Clark Kellogg….he is not bad, but I’d go with Gus Johnson!!

@Mskittle
I forgot about that too!
@Dime
What we need is for comedians to start being the commentators, only the ones who know and love the sport. Put them next to knowledgable coaches and let em go. You see how Charles Barkley and the crew are working out, now imagine adding bernie mac to that sh*t. It would be HILARIOUS, as Dave Chapelle’s son would say about Nick Cannon.

Good riddance…he is a homer for the ACC, an annoying prick who always trys to put the spotlight on himself.
Now if they would just get rid of Jim Nantz too we would all be better off…

@Truth — They already tried that idea with Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football. Didn’t go so well.
