Chris Kaman + Dirk = Teammates
Following the footsteps of the WNBA’s Becky Hammon, Clippers center Chris Kaman just got his German citizenship papers (his great-grandparents were German) and will play for the national team in this month’s Olympic qualifying tournament. Germany had a decent chance of grabbing one of the remaining three Olympic spots, but now with Dirk Nowitzki and Kaman — who put up 15.7 points, 12.7 boards and 2.8 blocks this year — their odds just improved. That’s a dope frontline by NBA standards, let alone international.

that’s cool…i’m not hatin’ on Kaman. if i couldn’t get on the USA team, but i could get on team Mexico, i’d do it. we’re all immigrants, so you gotta be proud of your heritage!!
dirk and kaman is probably the best “awkward footed” starting frontline in basketball…and ugliest! haha…that’s gonna make for some ugly basketball though!

canada? no way, even if kaman didn’t play for us.
greece, slovenia and croatia are a lot better, i think even brazil. but now we have a chance to beat all of them because we have two players who can play on a high level longer than 1 minute.
btw, if the best players played for canada, it would be a whole different story.

Sorry AB but you can’t compare this to Becky Hammon because as far as I know she has no Russian background except that she plays there professionally (although I have no problem with her playing for Russia) these things make me wonder how crazy everyone would go if say Gilbert couldn’t play for team USA and went to play for another country.

yeah, i really wonder how people would react if agent zero played for cuba…
btw, it sounds good with kaman, but we also had shawn bradley for one tournament and he didn’t get anything done. i almost got caught in this as if we have a dream team now.
i know there is a differnce in skills and softness(biiigg differnce)between those two, but the problem was shawn didn’t know anybody except for dirk and knew nothing about the system. hope our coach(also a dirk) gets it done in those two weeks we have left.

Well the Germans knocked of a French team a year ago full off NBA players parker, turiaf, pitreus, batum,… so i think they should be in the mix for a medal and btw seems like the Germans have now more depth at the front court as team USA

but i dunno if we can beat any1 2 on 5. have u ever seen our other players? I think Patrick Femerling is the worst basketball player in the world. he loses that danm ball everytime he tries to dribble. our guards just suck, hamann can´t even shoot from midrange, let alone from the international 3-point-range. opposing guards don´t even defend him on the perimeter. it sucks, but hey, it´s my homecountry…

oh hell nah! does this mean he gets shawn bradley’s job? why not try getting a point guard now, you know, perimeter defense and ball-handling..
