Converse N.E.R.D. Show in NYC
Not sure if you have seen it yet but Pharrell Williams recently collaborated with Santogold and Julian Casablancas to create “My Drive Thru,” a song for Converse’s new Chuck Taylor campaign.
Pharrell is making big moves as of late. His rock group N.E.R.D., just released their third album,” ‘Seeing Sounds,” and he currently graces the front of Paper Magazine’s latest issue.
Last night, Converse and Paper held a concert at Santos Play House down in Soho to celebrate the success of the collaboration. Lekeith Taylor, Dime’s Online Marketing Director, (and a guy who would most likely give you massive buckets on the court) and I rolled through and had a ball.
N.E.R.D., which stands for “No one Ever Really Dies,” tore it down. They performed a live set which included their classics “Lapdance,” “She Wants to Move,” and their newest joint “Everybody Nose.” Band members Shay and Chad (the other half of The Neptunes) had the crowd bouncing up and down, myself included. One dude behind us was so amped up he started shouting out, “Yeah Pharrell!! Whooo!! Album coming soon, ‘Babies on Your Face!’” Needless to say he was having himself a good time.
With special appearances from Amanda Diva, Pusha T (one half of the Clipse, and the hottest rapper out there … seriously), Swizz Beats, and Jermaine Dupri, the concert was definitely a good look.

This is a good look. I saw NERD perform in Camden, NJ on the Kanye tour and they were the best set. Lupe, Rihanna, and Kanye are all dope, but NERD had everyone involved it was just the way Christian described with people going crazy and having a great time. Peep the Everyone Nose Remix which features Pusha, Lupe, and Kanye.
