Ron Artest Trade Fallout, Okafor and Deng Get Rich, and Channing Frye is the new Gilbert Arenas

Ron ArtestRon Artest, Dime #21

The Rockets have been like the Cavs of the West for the last couple of years; maybe they were busting their asses behind the scenes, but on the surface the franchise seemed content with making run after fruitless run with their big-name superstar(s) — T-Mac and Yao in Houston, LeBron in Cleveland — while every other relevant team was making significant improvements. Late yesterday, though, the Rockets pulled the trigger on a big move: acquiring Ron Artest from the Kings in exchange for Bobby Jackson, a #1 pick, and a player to be named later, presumably rookie Donte Greene. Artest solves a few of Houston’s problems. Obviously the defense gets better, they get a perimeter guy besides T-Mac who’s willing (often too willing) to let it fly in pressure situations, and they get some toughness and swagger to add to the mix. If you had a healthy Yao on the court and Ron-Ron around to body-up Deron Williams a little during this spring’s Jazz/Rockets series, the Rockets could have definitely advanced to the next round and been a tough out for the Lakers. If only the brand-new Big Three can stay healthy … T-Mac to a Houston TV station: “(Artest) brings a mental and physical toughness. He brings a guy that competes at a high level on the basketball court. Defensively, he’s tough. Offensively, he is a force to be reckoned with. He’s probably one of the most difficult guys to guard on the perimeter because of his size, because of his strength.” … From the Kings’ side, we like the trade if in fact the unnamed player is Donte Greene. They’d been trying to unload Artest for a while, and although they didn’t land a bigger name like Lamar Odom, Tayshaun Prince or some of the others that had been popping up in the millions of Artest trade rumors, ask any rebuilding organization and they’ll gladly take draft picks and young talent. Plus B-Jax shores up the point guard spot, previously in the hands of Beno Udrih (are you completely sold on him yet?), second-round pick Sean Singletary, and summer-league signee Bobby Brown … Earlier in the day, the big news was Emeka Okafor coming to terms with the Bobcats on a six-year, $72 million contract, which was followed later on by Luol Deng reportedly agreeing to an identical deal with the Bulls. We definitely were not expecting those kind of dollars for Okafor, who turned down $12M-per last summer and went on to have a contract year that was solid (13.8 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 1.7 bpg) but didn’t blow anyone away. But everyone around the franchise says he’s the key to their defense, and Larry Brown is a defensive coach; he’ll try to mold ‘Mek into what he had with Ben Wallace in Detroit and Dikembe Mutombo in Philly. Deng also didn’t seem in line for that kind of money, but his contract year wasn’t a statistical disaster (17 ppg, 6.3 rpg), and he’s still got the ’07 playoffs on his resume when he destroyed Miami … The Bobcats’ investment in Okafor begs the question: Is he The Man in Charlotte? We looked at who should get the Alpha Dog tag for that team, as well as others in need of an identity, including the Nuggets (A.I. or ‘Melo?), Warriors (Monta or S-Jack?) and Grizzlies (O.J. or Rudy?) to name a few … With Okafor and Deng getting $70M, then Monta and Andris Biedrins falling into the $60M range, where does that leave Josh Smith and Andre Iguodala? A.I.2 seems certain to come back to Philly and make a run with Elton Brand, whereas J-Smoove wants out of Atlanta ASAP (and the team signing his ex-AAU teammate Randolph Morris won’t change that). Even if we don’t know their respective destinations, each can make an easy case for exceeding Okafor/Deng dollars: they were both #2 guys (at worst) ’08 playoff teams … And on that note, do you think Ben Gordon deserves more money than Luol Deng? … As expected, the Knicks waived Taurean Green and Bobby Jones — their haul in the Renaldo Balkman trade — and Green reportedly already has a big offer from CAI Zaragoza (Spain). This is the same club that recently employed Lionel Chalmers and Heshimu Evans, and not so long ago was home to the infamous Lester Earl … Between the Baron Davis signing, the Marcus Camby swindling and the perfectly sensible Eric Gordon and Al Thornton picks in ’07 and ’08, you might be surprised to know that Elgin Baylor is still the Clippers’ GM, and Donald Sterling is still the owner. This has all been so unlike them, you had to assume someone else was calling the shots. Asked about the Ricky Davis signing, Baylor said that after L.A. whiffed on Kelenna Azubuike, it had come down to Ricky Buckets or Devean George. Question: If you’re running a team, would you be the type to gamble on a talented player who is a potential headcase, or would you go with a less-talented guy if you knew for sure he won’t cause any locker-room problems? In other words, are you the Oakland Raiders or the San Antonio Spurs? … Some of the Dime crew spent Tuesday at the NBA Rookie Photo Shoot, held annually at the Knicks practice facility, where the rooks get their pics taken for team media guides and their first trading cards. Here’s a recap of the 2007 rookie shoot, which was the last time any of us saw Josh McRoberts in a basketball uniform. While it’s a good time for the Dime crew to knock out a bunch of interviews and catch up with the guys we hung out with at the Draft, the downside is you sometimes get stuff like THIS. We’ll have a full report later today on the site … Anyone arguing that college athletes need to get paid should use this as evidence: Turns out Roy Hibbert had to wait for that NBA check before he could even get a haircut. Tragic … One story that couldn’t wait: Less than an hour into the shoot, Marreese Speights managed to break a chair by simply sitting in it, then when one of our guys asked him about Elton Brand, Speights said he “really hadn’t seen him play.” The man’s been in the League for 10 years and you haven’t seen him play? The Clips and those terrible post-MJ Bulls weren’t national TV regulars, but Elton was in the playoffs recently and he did play at Duke before that … Airplane farts, dragon breath and things that smell like “hot horse piss.” Who knew Channing Frye was so funny? After reading this, you have to believe Frye spends HOURS watching stuff like “South Park” and Adult Swim … We’re out like Hibbert’s ‘fro …

artest to the rockets is scary. jazz better move ak47 for something more valuable. it might be adifferent story if they meet again in the 1st round if the russian dude is not traded.

  • Fish

Not a big fan of the rockets continually trading away young talent (if they trade Green). They never seem to be willing to take a risk, and you might say that is why they always end up as a good team but never able to get over the hump. As much as Battier is a team player he can disappear for huge stretches and personally I would have preferred keeping Rudy Gay back in the day. Anyway, not knocking the trade too much. Artest is pretty unselfish and wants to win. Not sure how it will all fit together but there is definite potential.

  • Ferdiberdi

Speights welcome Elton Brand into your world. You’ll be doing a lot of watching him in the next couple of years.

  • j from la

rockets r a 2nd round team now.okafor gets paid way too much hes not a top 15 power forward. hibbert sucks wit hair r no hair. ricky over sorry ass d george all day neday. i hope no1 gives artest any sizzurp cuz hell go crazy down there. lakers still team to beat n 09. season needs to start soon cuz baseball n brett favre make me go crazy

  • http://creampie.com solomon

channing frye’s blog was DA BOMB!!!

we’re out like hot horse piss…

  • David_Brandon

well damn. i guess it did finally happen. we’re OFFICIALLY rebuilding. now, if we ship out brad miller, i know things are lookin rough. and since i’m talkin about brad, its funny how josh howard got all the press about him blazin up, but when brad does it an gets caught, its only in the sacramento bee, the local paper. i mean, it was on msn for like 47 minutes or somethin, but you know what i mean.
marreese….yo man, you can’t be talkin THAT reckless…
so if luol really is gonna get cashed out like that, then where does that leave ben gordon?? i mean, dude is buckets.
an speakin of buckets, i still dont like that ricky davis signing, esp given the fact that boom, eric gordon, al thornton and cat are still on the other LA squad. i never been a big fan of dudes who dont EVER wanna play D (i’m talkin to you mike bibby) and end up bein bad locker room influences. i mean, come on if you the CAVS dont want you…an that whole bullsh*t he tried to pull with that triple double thing a fews back wasnt cool at all. damn, i’m writing a lot….

  • bill

Depends on the headcase. Decision to be made for each individual but I would DEFINITELY consider the headcase if the talent was there.

  • Coop

Not sure this addresses any of the Rockets needs but it’s a decent price to pay for a guy who’s arguably a top-10 talent in the league.

Interesting to see if they’ll try and keep Battier and Ron Ron on the court at the same time.

  • Coop

If you’d pay Gordon as much as Luol then you need your head checked.

  • http://www.myspace.com/lilpenny23 JHov

Completely off topic but did anybody peep this??

Who actually comes out and says it?? I mean most ballers feel that way but..I think that ONE ring has already gone to Pierce’s head!!

  • Bruce

Ron-Ron will don Houston Red for one season then he is a FA. LA better sign his ass!

  • Coop

haha Pierce is a moron of epic proportions. Even if that’s a bad translation. Mind you, you only have to look at Pierce to know he’s not exactly Stephen Hawking. “oh, and i dont like gays”

Get back in your cave you fat troll.

  • 2 Easy

Eric Gordons pic looks kinda… fruity. Poor kid. Mek And Deng are gettin paid like that? Not to sound rude but for what? They both took steps back this year and Im sorry but Mek should not be gettin paid the same as a dude that dropped 30 & 20 on him. This sends a pretty bad precedent, if u whine and bitch and threaten to go to Europe you’ll get ur money even though u may not deserve it. Well BG, I suggest u play out the year and get paid next year cause clearly GM’s are wimps now

  • David_Brandon

naw man, i’m saying that ben is trying to get cashed out too. but deng, i feel, does more for the team as a whole. but if ben is asking for more than what luol’s getting, do you re up??

  • Coop

Er if I was Chi-town there’s no-way I’d pay Kevin Martin $ to Gordon (I wouldnt pay it to Martin either). He’s one-dimensional and streaky. And he cant defend. If you dont want to move Hinrich then you simply have to s+t gordon imo.

  • David_Brandon

man, honestly….i had problems when we gave kevin martin kevin martin money. lol! i mean, i can appreciate consistency an alla that, but $11 mil to a dude who’s gettin you what, somethin like 23 4 and 2?? i kinda had/have issues with that. but maybe he’s been workin on his game more this year, iono. but i’m just picky that way. esp when it comes to sharing the ball. it should be way easy to average at least 4 asts per if youre the main focal point of an offense. thats a pass a quarter. if you can’t get a dime in 12 mins, then hit up nash or jkidd or cp3 or deron.

  • Bruce

Paul Pierce says he’s the best player in the world. This is the whoel article. Finals MVP Paul Pierce, who recently spent three days at a ball camp in Madrid, is making, ahem, news about what he said to a Spanish reporter. The money translation, via RedsArmy: “Q: Is Kobe really the best player in the world? Pierce: I don’t think Kobe is the best player. I’m the best player. There’s a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don’t cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself.” Surprisingly, Spurs fans seem more upset by this than actual Lakers fans.

Chubby is not even a lock for the HOF, won one chip after all these years, and now talking like he is the greatest.

Imagine if Chubby was on the Lakers squad instead of Kobe or Lebron team.

Chubby is the greatest at faking an injury in all of sports. Give Chubby an Oscar. Probably got drunk off the Sangria!

  • Bruce

Kevin Martin – This nigga is a fraud, I am a season ticket holder in SAc, 10 years and counting. He is about to be exposed.

He is beloved by the majority of Kings fans though. Freaking Doug Christie would have shut him now any day of the week. You pick the day too!

  • http://dimemag.com Austin Burton

@Bruce — Every time Kevin Martin has a 30/40-point game, at the office the next morning it’s always, “How does he DO that?” I respect K-Mart II, though: Towards the end of the ’06-07 season, I ended up watching an extraordinary number of Kings games on League Pass, and he was the only guy playing hard on a team full of guys that clearly hated each other.

  • Coop

I agree on the one-dimensional bit. The problem i have is that gunners don’t win anything unless they’re named Jordon (and obv Jordan wasn’t just a gunner!)

Guys who can shoot are ten a penny and spending a fifth of your salary cap on someone like that is a total waste. When you pay out you want to pay out to a deron williams, a chris paul, a dwight howard etc not a relatively meaningless position like sg/sf. (unless it’s a super-talent like lebron but obv that’s v rare)

  • AB_40

I dare to make a bet that ron artest will say that the houston rockets will win the nba championship next season haha. Watching yao right now playing in the diamond ball he is ok but not fully back he’s at 70% or a lil bit more. I like the trade but it gives us some question marks will shane battier will become a posey light come playoffs time? And still who’s gonna play pg? Alston? Francis? Brooks? I really wanna see francis succeed but he needs to stop thinking that he’s the best point they have, prove it and kill those other guys come training camp.

  • dj ho

how many teams has donte green been with now – he’s been traded by like 4 teams? and he hasn’t even played a game yet! dude will have a huge chip on his shoulder by time he enters training camp!

  • msquared808

I officially like Channing Frye about 1000% more than I did five minutes ago. ROFLMFAO!

  • Luigi

Channing Frye and Gil should hang out one day. i wonder what stories they will write?

but as for ‘Mek n Deng. they’re not worth that money. but hell Arenas aint worth his money either but Emeka n Luol use the good strategy known as ill leave 4 europe if u dont offer [insert amount of money here]

if u think about it. GSW OVERPAID badly for Biedrins bkuz of the fear of their players leaving 4 euro. Sasha aint worth 5 mill per yr. they did that bkuz europe could simply offer alot of money to him.

so basically the fear of the NBA players leaving their respective teams for europe is a good strategy for players to use if they want more money. Hell if Kobe bolts LA in 09. n leaves for europe for like 300 million euros. that will SERIOUSLY kill the NBA.

So the thought of going to europe + players in the NBA = OVERPAID

but anyways H-Town. deadly in NBA 2k9. but in real life. we’ll see

  • shake&bake

@ Bruce, Doug Christie’s wife will pick the day.

Loul Deng is a better player than Ben Gordon. Gordon will give you 41 games where you think he can’t miss, and 41 games where you ask why he’s allowed to shoot. Deng also plays D and rebounds.

I’m a big Artest fan and I think this makes the Rockets legit WC finals contenders.

  • http://allthatjazzbasketball.blogspot.com/ Amar

tmac may get out of the 1st round for once! high five!

  • Coop

I dont think anyone in their right mind is going to argue that Gordon is better than Deng.

  • bigdoggchad

@ coop Jordan a gunner? He shot .497% for his career you consider that a gunner?

  • Celts Fan

OR, after realizing Channing’s about 25, you’d assume he’d spend hours watching South Park and the like anyway as long as he’s not on the Chris Duhon “training” regimine of going out, getting wasted, and hitting on average white girls every night.

the Clips should be able to control Ricky. Baron’s not that much different personality wise from what I’ve heard, (strong willed, a bit of a rebel but not the loose cannon Ricky can be, but close enough they should get along well and Baron’d be a good influence on him) but he’s good enough that he should be able to be boys w/ him and still slap him down when Ricky’s trying to do stupid crap and Ricky SHOULD respect him enough to listen.

My wish list for the Celtics (who really just need a 3 off the bench who’s played in an NBA game before/isn’t coming off knee surgery):
    1. Rasual Butler (what can I say, I’m a homer for my alma matter, he’s the one guy I actually got to see play that’s a worthwhile pro – sorry Steve Smith, you’re a great guy, but you don’t count, Rasual can get buckets and should be cheap)
    2. Devean George (championship experience, relatively cheap, good defender)
    3. Bobby Jones (young guy that you could probably get for the minimum. Plays good D.)

    2. Devean

  • 92021SpurMD

Josh Smith to the Spurs, make it happen POP!

  • Luigi

man dude smoove to the spurs. the spurs game is half court and open shots. smoove would not thrive trust me

  • http://www.alltexasforums.com rangerjohn (McCain in ’08)

i like the idea of artest on the rockets, it makes them possible best d in the league, but i am not liking the rockets the way they are, they have just to many PF/SF types and not nearly enough guards. bobby jackson sucked but he was better then no real back up at all at the pg possition. but then they have “the franchise” who knows what he will do, then there is arron brooks who played well now and then but is untested, to top it off these are the BACK UPS TO RAFER ALSTON! the team is filled with “bad shot guys”, they need to drop luther head also. i mean toalk about “ill advised shots” alston, head, brooks, then tracy is not a 3 point shooter but damnit he tries, the shane only has a 3 point shot and he goes COLD, then artest can be prone to jacking shots too.

my prediction, rockets have the best defense and the 5 worst defense in the league! but hey maybe we can keep artest on the floor of the toyota center instead of in the stands. and maybe we can keep him from beating his wife and letting his unfed dogs run wild through the streets of down town houston.

  • AB_40

IRAN BEAT SERBIA 72-70 ahhahahahaha Serbia is sinking at the same rate us is is… sorry peeps

  • Celts Fan

@bigdoggchad, you can shoot well and still be a gunner. Perfect example: Mo Williams last year. MJ was a gunner for the first 5 or so years of his career. The whole “learning to trust his teammates,” thing is just a spin on, “he’s finally willing to pass.” He’s my favorite non-Celtic ever (tough not to like him, especially since by the time he was ascending to the throne of GOAT, my Celtics were dropping like a rock as Larry’s back and Reggie’s heart (RIP) gave out so I had no reason to hate them since our biggest rival at that time was the ping-pong balls that never seemed to bounce our way. btw, this is the perfect example of the Favre treatment. It’s not a race issue, it’s a beloved sports legend thing. The difference between MJ and Kobe’s REPS and why Kobe will never be that Favre-level superduperstar is one bad decision in Colorado and the perception that 1’s a dbag and the other walks on water.)

  • Coop

To answer your question mate, yes Jordan was a gunner supreme in my mind. Never saw a shot he didn’t like. But unlike many gunners, he actually found the hole a lot of the time.

  • bigdoggchad

@ celts fan His averages for the first five years not including the year he only played 19 games. .519 fg% and 6.14 apg still don’t see that as a gunner.

  • Coop

I define a gunner, loosely, as a guy who bombs away at a high volume. I guess that’s changed in modern times to a guy who shoots a lot but cant do it very well (Crawford, Bibby etc) but for me a guy who loves putting up shots that much is still a gunner.

  • bigdoggchad

My definition is a player taking a ton of shots and only making like 38-43% of them like Michael Redd.

  • bigdoggchad

    or Ben Gordon

  • Kobeef

Couldn’t the NBA wait until OKC got a name and jerseys before they did the Rookie photo shoot? Those warm-up jerseys are pretty lame…but the Westbrook “air jordan” pic is cool. Eric Gordon’s pic is ultra-lame.

Someone said above that Ron-Ron in Houston means T-Mac is staying – I’m still not sure about that. Houston has too many bench players and not enough starters at PF and Battier is good enough that he could bring them a decent PG or PF in return (which they need). Chauncey and McDyess for T-mac?

  • Coop

Why would Detroit do that trade?

big dog, Redd isnt in that bracket if memory serves. I think he shoots around 45%.

agree with Gordon though (using your criteria)

  • bigdoggchad

Yeah Redd shot .442 my bad.

  • girlybballluver

That Frye blog was hilarious…I nearly spit out the coffee I was drinking.

  • shake&bake

It’s called a gunner, not a misser. You can gun and make a lot, the problem is if you are a gunner who can’t hit a shot.

  • Jim

Dime is messing with me, when I saw this trade on ESPN I was happy for Gee…though he’s absent lately.

  • Coop

    Enter Jermaine O’Neal hahaha

  • Tom S.

How can you compare the Rockets to the Cavs? The Cavs haven’t lost in the 1st round and have been to the Finals.

  • Celts Fan

    @post 44, EXACTLY.

MJ gunned those first 5 years out of necessity (his teammates were TRASH til Scottie showed up) but he still gunned. Nothing wrong w/ it since he was making those shots, just saying, he did gun (the 6 dimes per is nice too, but that probably shoulda been more like 9 if his teammates were capable, which is why he had to/did gun. Think LeBron these past few years.)

  • Truth

If Chicago gives Ben Gordon big money they deserve to lose for the next 10 seasons!!!

  • Truth

The cavs are wack!! They won’t put any REAL talent around Lebron, but make these wack decsions regarding who they trade for. BEN WALLACE??!! Are you serious!!
They have 4 expiring contracts and haven’t explored putting SOME kind of All star around Lebron. They could use those expiring contracts and MAKE a team take Ben Wallace! I mean 15-16 million dollars in free cap space is VERY desirable. Same thing with the knicks and Steph! They could be making moves but they just standing in place!!

  • Skeeter McGee

If the Rockets can stay healthy, I say the Ron-Ron move makes them better than San Antone but still behind the Lakers. Could you imagine in a game when Adelman could have T-Mac playing point, Ron at the 2, Battier at 3, Scola/Landry at the 4 and Yao at the 5? Tell me who gonna score on that?

BREAKING NEWS – The Miami Beloved Rick Ross is a liar and a fake!!!

    Screw Rick Ross
Despite denials, records show rap star worked as corrections officer
JULY 21–Apparently desperate to distance himself from any affiliation with law enforcement, the rapper Rick Ross has recently denounced as fake photos purporting to show him in a former career as a Florida prison guard. But Department of Corrections (DoC) records show that Ross, whose raps detail the Miami gangster lifestyle and his supposed days trafficking cocaine, did, in fact, work as a correctional officer for 18 months. Ross (real name: William Leonard Roberts) was appointed a prison guard in December 1995 at a salary of $22,913.54, according to the below personnel record, which was provided to TSG by Jo Ellyn Rackleff, a DoC spokesperson. The rapper’s social security number is identical to that of the jail guard. According to the official document, Ross was earning $25,794.34 when he resigned in June 1997. After graduating from the DoC training academy, Ross was assigned to the South Florida Reception Center in Dade County (the lockup is one of three statewide that serves as an intake facility for new prisoners). When a photo of a uniform-clad Ross surfaced last week on MediaTakeOut.com, the 32-year-old performer claimed to AllHipHop.com that unnamed “online hackers” put “my face when I was a teenager in high school on other peoples’ body. If this shit was real don’t you think they would have more specifics, like dates and everything?” He added, “Fake pictures are created by the fake, meant to entertain the fake.” The photo, which you can find here, shows a 19-year-old Ross at a DoC ceremony (he was part of the department’s 60th graduating class). He is pictured shaking hands with Marta Villacorta, who then headed the South Florida Reception Center. Villacorta, now the department’s South Florida regional director, was identified by Rackleff, who examined the photo Ross claims was Photoshopped. In a recent videotaped interview, Ross replied, “No, that’s not true” when asked if he had worked as a prison guard. He claimed that the phony story was being circulated by detractors upset by his success in the rap world, where, “I came out of nowhere and just took over the streets.” (2 pages)

ron artest on the rockets. ’bout time the rockets do something to advance.

where is ron going to play? i thought the 2guard spot was for mcgrady and the 3spot was for shane battier. i guess they just gonna move shane puss b*tch ass to the bench.

side note here for dime crew and NYers:

its been said that ron artest and rafer alston really REALLY do NOT get along. from way back in the day. practice is gonna be fun in h-town

  • Tru Face

Wow. Finally, I can see my team getting pass the 1st and maybe even more! Can we get the title now? Haha just kidding! Seriously though, Yao, T-Mac and Artest is a matchup nightmare for teams everywhere.

Best part, they hardly gave up anything! Donte Greene wasn’t going to contribute much this year. In fact, GM Morey said he would spend lots of time in the D-League. So the Rockets get a player that can contribute right NOW. Yao and T-Mac aren’t getting any younger so its important you go all in now instead of waiting for a rookie to develop.

  • BxBaller

Those ‘Zona guys sure are funny, Gil, Frye, RJ. Seriously, as much as I think Charlotte overpaid for Okafor, they needed to. They would have had a terrible year with May, Othella Harrington, and whoever else they got as their bigs.

So what now the Rockets got Battier and Artest to lock dudes up on the perimeter, and Yao intimidating dudes in the paint. I’d be hella surprised to see teams score in the 90’s against them next year.

  • Celts Fan

@Ranger, that was out a few days ago. You want your superstar to think that way (even if it’s clearly not true,) just like you want Team Australia (or any other sacrificial lamb in the Olympics) to say they’re gonna beat the US. We’ll all laugh it off, but if you don’t think like that, why show up?

  • doc

Houston can make all the moves they want but until Yao andT-Mac play a whole season together they aint going nowhere. And I dont got both of them lasting this year either.@Bigdog-Assits cant tell you if a person gunning.Early Mike,Kobe, and AI made them passes where they dribble around looking to score until the D was so tight somebody is waving they arms like pass me the fucking ball and then they still reluctantly give it up.Thats why whoever played with AI except Korver J was broke because you dont get the ball except once in a blue and the pressure on you if you miss because you was open but you’re cold as hell from not getting no shots. You can shoot 70 percent and be a gunner. You just make your shots. And Im not mad Mareese dont watch Elton. He’s only like 19 so when Brand was at Duke what was he 10?Plus most ballers I play with dont watch ball like that.Nobody in that summerleague team watched ball besides me.

  • doc

Plus Paul Pierce said what he was supposed to say.He just won a chip where he outplayed Kobe head to head.So it aint like he Cat Mobley or somebody.Believe it or not everybody in the league aint on Kobe’s nuts.

I’m not saying he should be jocking Kobe I’m just saying he’s calling him out in a way..and that neither Lebron nor Kobe would actually tell a reporter.. “I’m the best player in the world!!”

  • http://GEE2.com GEE…them young kids don’t trouble me

Jim I ain’t whent no where pimpin lol. During the summer I am not on as much cause ya boi be trying to travel, sleep late as I can and what not. I still get on though. Matter of fact I was posting bout the whole trade deal last night.
I am prolly gettin on now when most cats sleep or said what they gotta say already. Still around though.

As I stated last night I am elated about the trade. I know most reports are saying that the Rockets are likely to get rid of Donte in the trade. I personally am hoping we can keep him and get rid of someone else. Cause he is young and can score, and with more experience he should do well. Rockets got defense so they need as many cats that can score for themselves as they can. Either way its a win win though.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Elton Brand gets injured again this year. Not to mention if AI2 stays and they do make the playoffs again he prolly won’t show up again. Even though they got Brand and all they prolly still won’t go further than they did this year.

What P-Dub said aint nothing to trip over. You can say just about anything you want when you the champ, but I doubt Kobe trippin. Kobe already know he is the top 1 or 2 in the L at this time. He prolly laughed at that mess. We all know with no KG and Allen, Paul might not even be gettin interviewed to say nuthin.

I am wondering how Ron and Alston gone get along, cause I to have heard mumblings about some beef in the past or something. Although if they start winning you know that makes everyone act right and get along.

@jhov Im not saying you,Im saying you supposed to say that.Lebron say he better than everybody except when he hops on Kobe nuts and say he better.Kobe they dont even ask if somebody better than him except Mike.I respect the Truth more for this.

See that Channing Frye thing is funny for anyone that has actually had to hold a fart on a train, plane or any other type of ride.
I am wondering about him trying to shoot threes though, I can see him pullin that in a game and gettin…yanked!
Still a funny story and I think I am going to start asking people how many years they got left instead of how long they been doing somethin.

Roy Hibb just looks slow, it wouldnt’ be so bad if he didn’t play slow either. I still hope he does ok in the L, but I ain’t tryna hear that he couldn’t get a cut till his NBA check. Granted he had a monsta on his dome but still you know he could have had one before the L.

LOL at the Lopez boys tryna look hard. One of them need to see Roy’s new haircut dude.

    Alpha dogs
AI on the nuggets (although I know he has to be hating he is there now)
    Rudy on the Grizz
    Monta on the Warriaz
    Wallace on the Cats
Who is the Alpha dog on the Knicks though?

Doc, great read about you man. Wherever you end up going, good luck and keep doing your thing son!

I gotta ask though: When you go play overseas, is there not much chemistry between teammates since there might be a language/cultural barrier? I was just wondering if teammates over there accept an American player just as the NBA teams might accept a foreign player, or is it a little more isolated and lonely? Either way good luck dawg!

The players are cool. Some coaches hate on our style of play butfor the most part its all love. And the hoes show love also.
