My HyperdunksA while back I was in Portland for the Nike Innovation Summit along with our Editorial Director Pat. While we were out there we both got to play in the Nike Hyperdunk. Needless to say, we both fell in love with the shoe. Some of our colleagues (who will remain nameless) thought we “drank the proverbial kool-aid.”
The shoe, as you already know by now due to Kobe’s YouTube commercials and the ads of some sorry dude getting teabagged, that the Hyperdunk is the lightest basketball shoe ever made. I am not getting paid by “Uncle” Phil Knight to say this, but I really do believe that this is the basketball shoe of the future.
After Pat and I played in them we had to give them back since the shoe hadn’t been released to the general public yet. Fast forward to Monday. I was at the Team USA media session and my shoes happen to be on a mannequin there (I knew they were mine because we all wrote our names on our boxes before leaving Portand). I HAD to have them, so after begging the Nike guys (Thanks Kejuan and Brian), they let me part with them.
USANot only are they Hyperdunks, they’re Kobe’s Team USA special make up, complete with his Men’s Senior National Team number (# 10) on the inside of the shoe.
100% chance I break these out on a court the next time I run.
