Jamaal Tinsley to Be Bought out By Pacers

Indiana Pacers logo

This made us laugh this morning when we saw it on one of our favorite fantasy sports web sites, Rotoworld.com:

Jamaal Tinsley’s contract will likely be bought out by the Pacers, meaning there’s almost no chance he plays another game for the team.

Indy Star columnist Bob Kravitz said on the radio that he would “walk to Kokomo if Tinsley was in a Pacers uniform on opening night.” Kokomo is 53 miles due north of Indy. And when Kravitz mentioned this to Pacers coach Jim O’Brien, he laughed and said, “If Jamaal is still with us, I’ll walk to Kokomo with you.” Obviously, the Pacers are either going to trade Tinsley and his ridiculous contract (3 years, $21 million – not likely) or buy him out.

Clearly there are other issues beyond Tinsley just being injured all the time. Multiple teams definitely line up to sign him any way though, right?

this guy was just one piece of this ultra talented team that couldn’t stay healthy.(or out of the stands, or out of the strip club…).
he is a headcase and they should try everything to get rid of him.
there have been multiple times the last couple of years where i thought he might get, but then he disappointed me and the fans again.
    what an idiot

  2. Dime Magazine says:

He has definitely acted like a knucklehead over the past few years, but how good would he be on the Celtics as a backup pg? The Big 3 would probably be able to keep him in line…

  3. Kobeef says:

That is a ton of moeny and there are quite a few teams that need a PG but Indiana needs another team that has a bad contract they need to dump…and there are some bad contracts out there.

Jerome James? Donyell Marshall? Sczerbiak? Ben Wallace? Luke Ridnour? Tim Thomas? Antoine Walker? Brian Cardinal?

So that Beach Boys’ song was about a place in Indiana. Puts a whole different spin on the tune.

    @mellamoernest:

I was just thinking the same dang thing! It’s GOTTA be another Kokomo…it was all tropical-sounding!

  6. mike says:

He should follow his boy JO to Toronto and sign on the cheap as Calderon’s backup.

  7. justice says:

  8. fiyaman says:

  9. YOUNGFED says:

  12. Celts Fan, "Kobe, Tell me how my @$$ tastes" says:

@Flyaman, you don’t want Tinsley in New Orleans or Miami. Too many strip clubs…

  13. MSkittle says:

He started out so great at the end of last season, though.

  14. Ashlov says:

If he gets bought out, he’ll end up with the Heat.

  15. Ted DiBiase says:

I’ll buy him out with my own money. Cause every man has a price, right ?

  16. GEE...She caught the vapors says:

Dude can score and outside of being a “knucklehead” can control the floor pretty well. I would hope Houston would try to get dude.

  17. LakeShow84 says:

    Hes going to MIAMI.. Bet..

  18. Cammy Z says:

This guy should have been a star. His rookie year he was one of the NBA’s leaders in assists. If his problem is really an attitude thing, a team with a well-respected coach and veterans who won’t get disturbed with childish distractions should pick him up. And if the Knicks are really looking for the next Steve Nash, Tinsley is capable of producing those kinds of numbers.
