Jim says:
I’m not surprised. I read an article on SI.com, I think, last week where some of the coaches criticized him on the record. Apparently he was big-timing everyone WHILE not playing well at all. Should be good motivation.

Kevin says:
Thats ridiculous. I dont care how he has BEEN acting, you gotta put the best high school player in the nation on the team to represent the nation. You telling me he would act the same while playing for his country against international opponents as he does against weak players around here. I dont think so. He’d be putting all his focus into repin his country and would be the best player. Terrible decision.

No one who has actually seen this kid’s attitude should be remotely surprised by this development.

Good move I say. Humble the kid and let him know he’s not God’s gift.
It seemed like he actually has sensible parents from the article in the mag, but I’m sure everyone has been kissing hiss ass for a long time now.
Hopefully, he keeps working and doesn’t think he is an automatic NBA star

@Damon
You’re on a roll with this funny ish.
This kid sounds eerily similar to Telfair – a product of the over-hyped NY basketballl scene that is going to get exposed when when he finally faces NBA talent.

Rumor on the streets of NYC is he’s a mommas boy so he threw auditions because he was afraid to be away from his moms for so long. When he enters the draft he’s going to say “I’ll only play for NYC or NJ” so he can be with his momma…..I saw them holding hands once.

Unfortunately young Lance Stephenson has seemingly bought into all the hype concerning his status as #1 HS baller in the country. Can you really blame the young man when he is getting too many props at such a young age that he stops working diligently on his game. Look at current cover of Dime Mag, “This 17 year old would be an NBA Star right now.” Come on. Even the player’s magazine, Dime is contributing to all this hype. Leave Stephenson alone, preferably on some secluded NYC court, working out and shooting 1000 jump shots a day. Get after it young buck, prove the haters wrong.

A swing and a miss, Dime. Maybe this kid is really just an overhyped baller, not ‘the best HS player in the nation’. Hmmmm……

I don’t know why you guys (DIME) are so “shocked”…the kid is OVERRATED. period.

John Maximillian says:
Witnessed they say the biggest upset in AAU history in the first night at The Rumble In The Bronx. With Central Jersey Hawks down 23,the Hawks made a fantastic finish with 6 to 7 kids from the shore, to come back to win by 1 at the buzzer. ( 4 CBA 2 Free Hld TWP, 1ShoreReg).Its not that Lance played bad but I think the Father/son team is not where its at with 17yr olds entering Sr year.They Had 3 potenial NBA players and 7 D1 recuits that could not play togeter as a team, and a well coached team from the NJ Shore ,CBA Wiz style and some timely shooting, and it adds upto a loss, that started Raising Champions off to a bad start.They lost the next 2 ganes also.
Give Lance a chance to collect his thoughts this sum/fall and he will be one of the best college ball players to come out of Lincoln NY by 2009. The cut from the US team will be a eye opener and he will learn from all of this.
Ironically I was one of the first people to Market Dime at the CBA/Neptune SCT at Brookdale College in 2003 when they published ther first Edition.Handing out free copys at the gate. Hope to see some names from the Shore in the”Dime”there soon,have missed a few inrecent years and might pay close attention the The CJ Hawk team from “The Rumble In the Bronx”
