Mavs Offer Jerry Stackhouse and Brandon Bass for Ron Artest

How long can Mark Cuban go without offering Jerry Stackhouse‘s services to another team? It’s Cuban’s first move every time. After last year’s fiasco with Stackhouse being included, and then not being included in the Jason Kidd deal, Cuban is still shopping the vet wing.

According to a source close to Dallas, the Mavericks offered 14th year swingman Jerry Stackhouse and fourth-year forward Brandon Bass for Kings small forward Ron Artest.

The Kings are not expected to entertain the offer if it doesn’t include Dallas small forward Josh Howard, but the inquiry certainly reveals the level of the Mavs’ interest. According to the source, Howard does not appear to be available even if the Mavs are looking for a significant addition after falling to New Orleans in the first round of the postseason.

Does it make sense for the Mavs to keep Josh Howard under lock and key? After being downright awful during the playoff series against the Hornets, not to mention the marijuana incident, Mavs fans were calling for Howard’s head. Now, with the possibility of acquiring Artest, one of the League’s toughest defenders, the Mavs are saying Howard’s off the table?

Fantasy owners know that Howard is slightly better statistically – his numbers on the glass are marginally better than Artest’s. But it’s not like the Mavericks would lose a lot of scoring if they swapped these two.

If you’re Mark Cuban, would you send Josh Howard to Sacramento to get Ron Artest?

hell naaaaaw… they couldnt handle the general, what in the world makes em think they can handle Artest? if anything, Avery Johnson would have been the man to deal with ron-ron … so, again, hell no!

Yeah. Defensive upgrade. Howard likely needs a change of scenery. But then again, one bad playoff series doesn’t kill a player’s future necessarily. But Carlisle and Artest reunite. BUT on Sacto’s side, I’m not giving up Artest without dumping K-9 (kenny thomas) on some team.

  3. slicrick says:

i dont know man, defensive upgrade or chemistry possibly being blown to bits?! but ron ron and carlisle will be fun to watch if it does fall thru

  4. DaPro says:

I’d package Josh in the deal and keep Bass. Bass is a matchup problem for a lot of teams-with Bass and Artest that’s a serious threat on the court

Now if Ron takes his anti-crazy pills then this could work

  5. Ross says:

The Mavs wont make the trade unless the Kings throw in that Foster jersery.

  6. the mamba says:

Odom for ron ron. And see if the lakers can pay the kings a few milli to take radmanovic off our hands. That’s addition by subtraction there

  7. j ryu says:

everyone is talking about this carlisle-artest reunion but didn’t artest complain that the offense was too slow for him back when he was with the pacers? which is one of the reasons he requested that trade that same year..

  8. MSkittle says:

Sure. You guys forgot to mention that Rick Carlisle loves Artest.

  9. rangerjohn says:

bad move for the kings, stack is on his last legs every other day, and bass is a nice role player but ron ron is a star and he knows it.

  10. doc says:
