Jeff Green (photo. David Deal)Yesterday we gave this space to our DimeMag.com readers to live blog on the opening day action from the Orlando Summer Pro League — most notably for the Bulls/Heat game featuring the pro debuts of Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley.
Same drill today, with the games in Orlando tipping off at 3 p.m. EST and available to view online HERE. If you’re checking out the games, hit us with your scouting reports, observations, and X’s and O’s breakdowns of the on-court happenings.
Tuesday’s first game has Beasley and the Heat going up against the Nets, where the Rookie of the Year front-runner (28 points yesterday) can test his game against Jersey’s first-round pick from a year ago, defensive specialist Sean Williams, who at least physically should be able to give Beasley a contest. The Magic play the Oklahoma City Somethings afterwards (approx. 5 p.m. EST), followed by the Bulls and Pacers around 7 p.m. EST.

the heat definitely made the right choice, now that i look at the landscape of that team, whoever plays the point for riles can usually shoot the lights out or at least force u to be within 5 feet of him banks,quinn,chalmers..and blount and haslem can knock down mid range jumpers too at the 5.so it will be impossible to double beasley, with wade marion and whatever 3pt shooting pg on the floor.. and we know beastly can score..i think he may stuggle against the taller, physical veterans, but that’s about it.this is not going to be a kevin durant put ur best defender on him the other 4 guy’s drift of their man situation at all..scary

A-Slam says:
yeah the heat definately got a steal in chalmers. If anything its a good thing the heat got chalmers because I think he’d be able to step in right away and contribute while it may take a while for derrick rose to find his niche in the league

As for Sean Williams Vs. Beasley, I can’t really see Williams being much of a factor to Beasley. He’ll have to chase Beasley out on to the perimeter where Beasley has the advantage to Williams.

williams is strong and athletic, plus not much is expected from him on offense, these are the kind of dudes i expect to give beasley issues at the start of the season, good luck once he gets some work in on his footwork though..

halftime analysis: despite the dante and gallante rambling on about completely irrelevant topics and nothing about the game, Miami is leading New Jersey. I’m very impressed by Mario Chalmers who leads all scorers with 11 points and a couple of steals. Beasley however is putting in a lackadaisical effort, and looks passive. He’s constantly letting Shawn Williams beat him, by the way he also has about 4 fouls. But that’s basically all i’ve been able to translate, that and Nick Anderson talking about his 50 point performance against the New Jersey Nets.

The only thing less entertaining than the game is the scoreboard countdown shot they have for halftime. It’s 2008 guys you couldn’t hook us up with something besides watching the scoreboard.
