Sixers Re-sign Louis Williams

Sixers logo

After testing the free agent waters and flirting with teams like the Warriors and Cavs, restricted free agent Louis Williams has re-signed with the Sixers for a reported five years (no $ figures have been released).

Lou has shown lots of ability to score, he did very well when the Sixers shifted a running style last season, but his skills at the 1 are questionable at best. I think he’s too small to play the 2 full-time in the League, so for him to be anything more than a bit player for the rest of his career, he has to develop some kind of PG game. Hopefully we didn’t overpay …

I just got an email from the clippers – They just signed Brian Skinner.

I didn’t get one when they signed Baron Davis, so this guy must be a heck of a player !!!

  2. that's whats up says:

I wonder if he’ll dye the bottom of his goatee red now that he’s a Clipper

  3. that's whats up says:

If Louis Williams got 5 years at 60K a year he be doin’ alright

  4. Dennis Castro says:

Good signing. I think 5yrs/$20M is fair for him. I’m hoping thats around the figure he got.

    Sixers are 10 deep now:

    Miller, Iguodala, Thaddeus, Brand, Dalembert

    Bench:

Lou Will, Kareem Rush, Reggie Evans, Jason Smith, and Royal Ivey. I’m assuming Willie is gone, with Lou Will being the 6th man.

  5. Coop says:

Tweener alert! Alarm bells ringing! See: Ellis, Monta

  6. doc says:

    Good signing.Hes nice.

  7. CJ says:

Coop is that “tweener alert” supposed to be a bad thing? Monta just averaged 20 a game, is one of the fastest players in the league, just signed a 67 million dollar contract, and is the starting pg for the warriors. Sixers probably got williams for a fraction of the price and I’ll bet in a few years he’s one of the most underpaid players in the league. You swap him for Ellis and he’s probably putting up the same numbers on a borderline playoff/in playoff 2yrs ago team.

  8. Diego says:

I got to agree with CJ. Same type of player as Monta. Sweet Lou can play. Five years/$20 million would make the Sixers look like geniuses in a couple of years.

But I am not seeing how Royal stays in the league–even if he were a Royal with cheese.

  9. Young Lebron 23 says:

Lou actually has more point guard skills than you think. I do think that when Iverson left he handed Lou the keys. If you look at all of his scouting reports coming out of HS, most gave him a comparison to AI. All we need is Iggy Pop to come back and we are a top 3-5 team in the east(If we had more playoff experience we could have been int the Conference Finals, (we almost stunned detroit and we could have beaten the Cavs no question.)

  10. MSkittle says:

Don’t worry about his position- he can ball. Iverson and Arenas aren’t true PG’s or SG’s either

  11. Coop says:

CJ and Skittle, yeah my ‘alarm bell’ was/is a bad thing.

Williams is nice, and Monta is very nice but tweeners are fundamentally going to cause problems re; team structure and secondly you dont pay through the ass for a midget scorer.

If Williams got 20mil then that’s fine, it’s not prohibitive to Philly. Monta’s wedge is way too much imho.

Skittle, how many rings have those two got btw mate? ;)

  12. SelenaElissia Rivera Scotio says:

I think Louis williams is very handsome and a cutie pie. He can run ball seriously. I was curious whether or not he is religious. If not keep up all the positive things that Louis can do. Peace and may Allah bless you and yours.
