Summer Cleaning Giveaway: Autographed Ricky Davis Shoe
Courtesy Ricky BucketsAround the time he was on the cover of Dime #10, Ricky Davis hooked us up with an autographed pair of AND 1’s. We’re keeping one here, but we figured we’d put the other one up in our summer cleaning contest. There’s only one shoe so it doesn’t matter what size it is, ’cause you’re not wearing it anyway, right?
If you want it, tell us and what you plan to do with it, and we’ll hook up the best commenter…

** Make sure the email address you use to comment with is legit so that we can contact you.
*** We will be contacting winners directly.

FK in T-Oh says:
I actually have 10 autographed jerseys, 10 autographed basketballs, and 8 autographed shoes from NBA players currently, so what I’d probably do is take the shoe you sent me, return it, and have you send it back.
That way I’d get my triple-double.

Celts Fan says:
Just like every team he’s played on, this is probably worth more without his name on it.
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:54 pm
the_baconator says:
@daquest?on: there’s a kid on my team who once played an entire season in one bball shoe, one skate shoe. course, this kid looks like a caveman and i think he’s gonna kill someone when he gets older
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Celts Fan says:
ya FK, that was pretty damn funny.
my favorite Ricky Buckets moment will always be back in his Cleveland days. I think it was the first game of the year, they were playing Dallas and he literally jumps over Steve Nash and throws down a vicious dunk (ridiculous enough as it is) then looks right into the camera and yells “OH SHIT!” as loud as he can. Hilarious…
July 22nd, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Kobeef says:
FK wins.
That was priceless.
Is there another moment in Ricky Buckets’ career that was more memorable than the do it yourself triple-dub?

daQUEsT?on says:
@ the baconator lmfao hahahah that was funny

Harvey Dent says:
Celts Fan,
I remember that. He jumped clear over Nash. He is very talented. I don’t think he is as bad as everyone thinks he is. LeBron would be better off with another athletic wing. They should’ve kept Ricky Buckets around.
Imagine King James, Ricky Buckets, DaJuan Wagner, and Boozer…?!!
200 points a night. LOL

James says:
Man Ive been waiting this whole time to write a comment for something I really really want- and this is it- Ive been a dedicated Dime reader for 2 years now and I read every post made to the website every day. Im supportin man- and I need this shoe- I’ll buy a shoe case and display it man- I love Ricky man ever since he came to the league by way of Charlotte- Ive followed him through the good times and the bad- every trade all the way through KG in Min. to the Heat now- Davis is the man- plus I got a ton of shoes- but not one pair of AND1’s- this would be my first pair- Hook me up Dime and keep up the good work
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:12 pm
Tha Boddy says:
I would like these shoes so next time I am 1 rebound from a triple double I can look over at the shoes and realize that shooting the ball at the wrong basket just to get a ez rebound is stupid…you don’t want it to happen again DIME do you???
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:13 pm
MoxWestCoastRep says:
Celts that was my fav buckets moment too.
The Nash T-Bag was classic.
Dime- COntact me with my Team LOVE Tee!!
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:19 pm
Celts Fan says:
@Harvey Dent – agreed, Ricky was very well-behaved around here. The knock on him has always been more a basketball-related thing (gunner, always on losing teams, etc.,) not a, “I hope we’re not bailing him out again,” type thing. Buckets seems like a good enough dude, the man just LOVES to shoot…
July 22nd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
C Burner says:
Damnit, I want that shoe..I’ve liked Tricky Ricky since he was on the Cavs..I went to see a Suns/Cavs game 7 seasons ago just to see Darius Miles play in person, and instead got to see Ricky put on a show. You know what that means? I have no sense of basketball talent, but I still think Ricky can hoop and a shoe from his Celtics day would be a conversation piece on my coffee table

I would take the shoe, make a necklace out of it, wear it to play pickup and then only shoot. No dribbling, no passing, just shoot.

GayforRudy says:
I won my fantasy league this year (1st year – keeper league). I’m going to build a ridiculously gaudy trophy and the perfect topper to the trophy would be Mr. Shoot First, Second, & Third’s obnoxiously signed shoe!

Jimbo says:
I’m gonna chuck this shoe in the trashcan – can’t believe Dime is promoting a Ricky Davis shoe like it’s actually a big deal. HAHAHAHA.

milton says:
This is crazy… i am from maine and am a HUGE c’s fan and my best friend was always obsessed with ricky when he was here. I wore his autographed ricky davis jersey to a game this year (it was that sick game when Big al made his return and KG stole it from telfair in the final seconds to win). I was pretty drunk, and in all the excitement i left the jersey behind and my pal gives me a hard time about it every day and says i owe him 200 dollars because of its sentimental value… i couldnt make this stuff up. If i get these kicks i would give it to him to settle the debt and get him off my back. no joke, this item is PERFECT

I like Ricky Buckets and will always remember his nasty dunk on Steve Nash. I honestly don’t know what I would do with the shoe but I would love to have it.

how about you throw the shoe away and send me a money order for half what it would cost you to ship it? Sounds like a win for both of us….

Doughboy says:
I am a huge Ricky Davis fan…he was my favorite player on the Celtics when he was here…alot ppl get down on him saying alot of stuff but when he was here he played his heart out…the reason i think i should win these is because i had a ricky d celtics wrist band that broke and they dont sell them anymore and i was pretty pissed…this shoe would help ease the pain of him being traded away for wally and losing my wrist band
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:18 pm
Simon says:
I sure hope this shoe hasn’t been given way yet because I need Ricky Davis in my life (no homo). Seriously though, I’ve been following this dude’s career since his rookie year. He had that sick dunk for Charlotte where he came in off two feet and got up for the put back. He didn’t even have to extend his arms because his head was like 2 inches above the rim. The bench went bananas and so did I. Loading that shit up on Netscape Navigator dial-up Internet here in Canada was slow, but watching that dunk each time was worth it. I think he capped off his rookie season with a 31 point effort or something crazy like that. From that time on he would only be Ricky Buckets.
I don’t know how long these things need to be so I’ll keep going. Here in Canada we don’t have the sickest jersey game or anything like that, so trying to find a Ricky Davis jersey or shoes is something that just isn’t possible. If I get this one shoe I will totally rock it out while scoring 50 with Dr. Buckets on Xbox Live against some 10 year kid who just got a lesson in how to be a go getta.
The Steve Nash poster was sick, as was the dunk I mentioned before, but does anyone else remember his through the legs reverse in the dunk comp that just got no respect? I feel this is the story of Ricky’s career. The guy has been a scorer his whole career and has played on bad teams so he always gets dissed by the media, but why can’t he be respected for what he is? He’s a solid 2nd or 3rd option who can play athletic D, score, rebound, and most importantly (fan’s perspective) play with energy to get the crowd excited.
This has been long, so I will leave with a question. Does shooting on your own net and getting the rebound count as an offensive or a defensive rebound? These are the things that keep me awake at night…

jz_smoove says:
I actually do not mind Ricky Buckets at all. I think he is a misguided talent in the league. Not a lot are like him, size , power and athleticism. He is of the Isiah Rider mold in attitude, yes, but I still like him. I would find him questionable to be with My Raps if I had the chance, but in a Spurs or Jazz system, he might thrive. and oh yeah, the shoes are dope.

ash says:
ricky davis was the first ball player to come to the celts since reggie who had some flavor in his game and made the very traditional, boring celts (at that time) have a kick of excitement.
as the celtics have clearly evolved (and now we got KG, the ambassador of flavor, talent, love, passion, inspiration, and of course pushing us to believe anything is possible), this autographed ricky shoe would give me a constant memory of what the celtics have come from in such a short time, when ricky was a savior in his own regard….how things can change….

I need 1 more rebound for a triple double, and with this 1 shoe I can shoot at the other teams basket after we inbound the ball after my man scores and get the missed shot for my tenth rebound!!! You gotta hook me up!

I have a group of friends here in Australia that all play ball and are huge NBA fans. For years and years Ricky has been my fav player in the league, partly due to the annoyance it creates for all my mates. I’ve gone to great lengths to promote RD and get some sort of postive material printed of him on official basketball sites and publications. Have written ridiculous letters, maybe 20, to magazines claiming absurd ‘facts’ of his career achievements. Have written to NBA.com bloggers, including that bloke who used to write the Race 2 the MVP, trying to get some ink supporting RD. I’ve gone to the extent of buying personalised RD jerseys off NBA.com with things ‘MVP’ and ‘ALLSTAR’ on the back and rocking them at training to piss off team mates.
Probably the most ridiculous thing I attempted to organise was trying to contact Ricky to come live with me and my mates in Australia during the offseason, see part of the world, experience the culture, get pissed with us and play a few games in our casual off season domestic competition leagues. wasn’t sucessful with that one.
I’m a diehard RD fan and it would be priceless to see my housemates and teammates faces if those shoes rocked up on our door step : )

I had to sit through 41 2007-08 painful home games as a season ticket holder for the Heat. I would like to have the shoe as a token of appreciation for being one of the few fans that never booed Ricky Davis when he was on the court. He played in all 82 games for the Heat this year making him one of the most durable guys in the league. Thanks, hope you all send me that kick!
Loyal Heat Fan,
Rey

I would like to have the shoe because there is a kid I know who lives with his mom and does not have a quality shoe to walk in. I feel sorry for him so if I get the shoe, I will definitely give it to him.
