I want the book. I once started on a book called Shattered Dreams (with a picture of a shattered backboard on the cover), but got frustrated, distracted and ultimately loss my material while my family was forced from our place… This book captures a lot of what i was trying to bring out in my side-tracked attempt. I’m haven’t totally dismissed the idea of doing something else around my original coming of age story…
This book will serve as a reminder and inspiration that the idea was both viable and is still relevant. It will be well accounted for with me…

Basketbooker says:
I’m a book devourer. Absolutely love ‘em.
Growing up in Switzerland–son of a nerdy academic–caged in by the snow, the cold and suspect Euro cartoons, I discovered a comfortable refuge in the form books. When you allow writing to teleport you to the innards of its pages, you discover a feeling of tranquility where outside distractions vanish.
That same nirvana can only be duplicated by one thing: being in “the zone.” Or momentary mastery of the rock and your opponent. Everything you chuck at the rim drops, your jukes are sharper, they increase in speed and intensity, your pupils contract, your stare turns into unalienable focus, the noise of the crowd fades away…You go SUPERNOVA. Nothing else matters.
Basketball purists (and I’d like to consider myself one) rarely discuss what it takes to get to the point of total recall, where your hours of labor in the gym; your natural ability; your killer instinct; hand eye co-ordination meld into a being in the zone.
I’d love to discover how the protagonist of BALL DON’T LIE crafted his game.
By the way, Dimemag, I’ve been a loyal fan of yours for years, even have an OG HoopsTV.com T-Shirt and you all do amazing work. I love the pulse you have on the game, the insight you shed into the planet’s best ballers and the fresh give-aways like this one. Keep up the great work!

The book should definitely go to the first dude, or the guy with no cable (that story just makes me cry).
If people want an amazing basketball book about ball and the struggles of inner-city life, go check out Heaven is a Playground (I think written by Rick Telander). It’s a true story about a group of teenagers from New York in the 70′s and how basketball helped/added to their struggles in life. There is basically no way someone could dislike this book, so go check it out.
