Larry Legend is one of my favorite players. He’s the reason my jump shot is wet like it is now. Especially for a street hooper. I talk trash just like him and he was one of the illest shooters to ever play this game alongside Rick Barry, Reggie Miller and a few others. I want the set because I’m a flat out fan of Larry and this would be nice to add to my basketball collection.

Oh man I gotta get that dvd. I model my game after Larry Legend, the G.O.A.T. in my opinion. To be a non-athletic white boy and do the nasty things that he did…unreal. All I’ve got to watch of him is an old videocasette and youtube.

Ok now yall steppin your game up. I’ll put in a bid for this. I’d love to have a piece of the Legends history. But if I had my choice I’d give this one to CeltsFan. He’s gotta be the biggest Celtics fan in here handsdown.

hey i am sixteen years old and only got into basketball in around the year 2000. i am a massive fan of the game, i can’t go a day without at least an hour of ball or i go crazy. since i only got into basketball so late, the only “legend” i can remember that isn’t still in the game is reggie miller, unless you count MJ’s comeback. i always hear all these things about larry bird, i hear the stats, the incredible shots, and i’d love to be able to SEE a guy like him in action, and learn more about the guy who took it toe to toe with guys like magic and jordan.

I would love to have this DVD because Larry Bird was my first favorite player. As an African-American kid who’s family loved Magic Johnson I was often discouraged from liking Larry Bird. But ever since he made that shot from behind the backboard I always stood my ground and gave him his props.

Larry Bird is one of the best competitors ever. He’s not the fastest, strongest, or tallest but he had the most passion. He loved the game and his teamates. He represetns the average guy. The fact that he was successful and at times dominant in the NBA is a testement to everyone who isn’t blessed with a strong body. I would like to have the DVD because like Larry Joe Bird I’m an average guy with the passion to succeed. Plus it wouldn’t be bad for my son to see one of the greats from the past.

I thought he was overrated until I watched him give the Hawks like 70 on NBA TV.
The crazy part…the Hawks were rooting for him! That’s when you know you’re a bad ass mofo.

I want this DVD for my pops. When I was little, he put my in the chair next to him and had me watch the Celtics. I “remember” watching the Dominique/Bird showdown with him (I was like 4, so I remember doing it, not the game so much.) My dad schooled me on the old-school guys, both Celtics, Lakers, and everything in between. While I had to hear about how good George Mikan and Bob Pettite were, I got to hear about how the game became what it is today from a guy that’s seen it almost from day 1. Dad watched the Russell era Celtics as he was coming up, got me into basketball with the 80’s Celtics before I was even old enough to pick up a ball (though that didn’t stop me from trying and taking a nosedive right into the floor. It’s fun how that still gets brought up just about every Christmas!)
Dad spent nearly a decade on the waiting list for Celtics season tickets, just to get them as Bird (his favorite player ever other than Russell and Havlechick) was retiring. We were subjected to, among other things, David Wesley as a #2 option (on the team, not off the bench,) Walter McCarty as a key player, Vin & Tonic, Rick Pitino, etc. Through it all, he kept his tickets in hopes that we’d one day get to see something like last year. I can never repay him for the 300+ games I’ve been to over the last decade, but this would be a great start.

I can write the same song and dance as anyone else. I know this documentary in and out but only have it on VHS. The DVD would make my Celtics collection complete. Here are some of my favorite highlights…
“Imagine the arrogance. The wonderful arrogance of a man that needs 2 to tie or 3 to win and he says…’Let’s roll the dice.’” - Mavs announcer
“You get so many eaaaasy baskets” - Chief
“They forgot. They forgot about Larry Bird.” - Ainge
“I fear no man, but Larry Bird.” - Magic
The full circle pivoting from the top of the key against Indiana after his “And here comes…Larry Bird” moment. Pricless.

I’m a big Bird fan, and this disc would definitely get major play at my place (for me and for another friend of mine that calls himself Larry Legend because he’s a goofy white guy that can ball), both on afternoons when no games are on and just to watch some NBA to get me pumped before I go out (Youtube bball mixes are great btw - Charles Barkley’s by KBlaze is my fave).
BUT, the main reason I want this is so that anytime Celtsfan and I disagree on something, I can post, simply, “DVD b****!!!”

Dime… you should hook me up with this video because I’m a Sixers’ fan! That’s right a Sixers’ fan and NBA junkie. I’ve got MJ’s 25th anniversary collection and this would be the perfect compliment to it. But as a lifelong Sixers’ fan I can’t actually go out and spring for this DVD on my own… wouldn’t be right… Any self-respecting Celts’ fan should already have this or drop the $ to pick up a copy…
Thanks

My uncle gave my dad (one of the biggest Larry fans) a taped tribute to Larry Bird called Larry Legend that aired on a local news station back when Larry retired. It was one of the best highlight videos of Larry out at the time, but it was just that: a video. It was at the very end of a VHS tape that contained hours of my cousins and family at reunions, parties, and vacations. So you either watch the tape all the way through while you grit your teeth and doze off, or you fast forward and guess where the Larry Legend part starts. It was easy for me since I watched it so many times, but my dad had a little more trouble even working the VCR. But once we got it started for him, the “All Right” and “No Ways” could be heard outside! Now, the tape has not worked in any VCR for years and has collected dust somewhere in the basement, but it doesn’t matter. My older brother and I can recite the entire tape for my dad, and he doesn’t need a tv. From the part where Larry is interviewed at his retirement press conference and he told the press how “I used the roar of the crowd to take my game to the next level, and I done it numerous a times in the Garden,” to his quote about how sad the day was: “This is not a sad day, and I promised myself I wasn’t gonna cry.” We did it all for my dad and still do. Now that we are both gone and moved out of my parents house, my dad needs a new Larry Legend video to bring those memories back, and this DVD will go above and beyond that! Thanks!

I’m gonna give it to my dad.
He’s a big 80’s Celtics fan, back when he had the time to follow basketball.
He even has the same shooting form as Larry Legend.
It’ll make the old man happy, that’s for sure

I need the Larry Legend set for my son who is almost 3 and already loves hoops and for me to relive my youth. Here are the reasons Larry rocked and the Bird is the word re will never be another Larry.
Left million on the table when he felt he could no longer could perform at the level he felt he need to
1) Did not back down from anyone: most famously Kareem and Dr J
2) Did whatever his team needed him to do to win
3) Called out his teammates and they responded to win Championships
4) Stole Isaiah’s inbound pass and dished to a streaking DJ for the win and took the Pistons out of the 1987 play-offs
5) Head locked and punched Rodman multiple times on the way down after Rodman took Larry’s feet out from underneath him. Then use Rodman to break his fall.
6) “Larry was a different kind of white boy.” Former NBA All Star Otis Birdsong
7) All Time NBA Trash Talking team – We would trash talk coaches about how the guy he had on couldn’t take an what Larry was going to do to him next
9) Always played all out
10) Made a shot from behind the backboard in a game
11) Won three consecutive MVPs
12) Roc’s Dad in the 80s Fox show Roc was convinced Larry was black given his skill and hair(I believe it was hair – I haven’t seen the show since it was originally on the air.
13) Led Indiana State undefeated into the highest rated college finals game ever before losing to Magic’ Michigan State.
14) Helped revive the NBA with Magic Johnson – Even the NBA Finals were on tape delay before they joined

I am Boston!
Beantown born and raised, and that’s where I learned how to play ball. Granted, I came up in the 80s and on some racial lines was a Showtime fan and so in many ways the Lakers are my team, but watching Larry and the Great Whites battles Magic and Chocolate Express was what made me love the game of basketball and influences every aspect of how i respect, play, and watch the game to this day.
This year’s final was a dream come true–and I was in a no-lose situation like few–and as it brought memories of my childhood and love of basketball to its full force so would winning this DVD (esp. wrapped in the Sheed Bullets jersey as that’s my #1 item and just like the Lakers played the enemy role to the Celts, so can the Sheed jersey play enemy to my Bird DVD!!)
peace and 3s y’all..

I was born just outside of Boston, and thus, grew up as a Celtics/Red Sox/Patriots/Bruins fan. I’m too young to have seen Bird in his prime, and don’t make enough money for ESPN Classic, so it would be amazing for me to get to see Larry Bird in this level of depth. I’m a father now as well, and fortunately my son is in love with anything sports. Basketball is my number one sport, so that’s what I want him involved in most. Already have him shooting on a Little Tikes hoop and everything. He even imitates my jab steps on phantom defenders. I tracked down a VHS copy of Red on Roundball that I’m going to try to get converted to DVD, and I’m also trying to get Pistol Pete’s Homework. Being able to show him one of the greatest ever and how much Larry was able to accomplish wouldn’t only help him with developing as a player, but also help our bond to grow stronger.
