This Is Why J.R. Smith is on the USA Select Team
This is why JR Buckets is one of my favorite players. I guess I’m not the only one who sees the talent Smith has. Check out the dunk at 0:22. Dude is one of the most athletic guards in the League…and he has a ratchet.
If you were an NBA GM would you sign JR?

He sucks. He has some talent, but it won’t ever click for him. NO basketball IQ.

BxBaller says:
Hey it’s more fans of JR Smith. Dude got game, I just wouldn’t want him on the Knicks cause we already got enough guards already. BTW, that crossover was just foolish. No need to do homey like that, SMH at defender.

Celticsdada says:
are u serious ? Gerald green has crazy hops too. Just because he can dunk doesn’t mean he’s a good basketball player. Dude has no basketball IQ and doesn’t have the willingness to study the game. Gerald green is another version of him with no sense of how to PLA defense.

JR’s gotta use that in a game.
Smith pauses, looks at Jerryd Bayless “I could be your father!” and the abuse begins.
Seriously, this kid is an amazing scorer. He can score 30 points on any given night in the NBA which is not something every rucker park regular can pull off.

I don’t think his talent has ever been a question.

JR is WAY better than G-Money.
Dude scored 43 off of the bench! He is a legit 3 point shooter.

JR Smith is a Legit 2 guard in this league. Put him in the right situation and he will flurish. i know he was immature but what 19 year old millionaire wouldnt be. some team is going to have a gem in like 2 years. he will calm down as he gets older and he will be a stud. trust that.

Sick athlete with stupid range…..still shoulda gone to UNC and picked up some of the little things, like shot selection and defense
Agree with post #18
Right situation – Vinnie Johnson
Wrong situation – Ricky Davis

Yup, still my favorite player on NBA Live 08. Dunks and threes all day. The quintessential video game baller! So, a highlight reel from a few exhibition games effectively validates a USA Select invite? Really, Dime?
Yes, I will be forever mad that my Bulls kept PJ effing Brown and got rid of JR Smith. Yes, I wish Smith saw more playing time during the season. Yes, I’m afraid he’ll soon have to tat his face since no other parts of his body will not have ink on them. Yes, it’s likely he’ll never start unless someone gets injured.
It still seems really odd that he now gets an opportunity to compete against Team USA in some very important practice scrimmages leading up to the Olympic games. The way certain players with certain images ( like AI ) are seemingly taboo for the national team, I don’t understand how JR made the cut.
That said, I hope the young man plays well and can stay out of the negative spotlight from here on, because his talent should definitely be showcased regularly in the NBA.

There are several teams that should make a run at JR. First and foremost I think the Cavs should try to make something happen. He would play well off of Lebron. Other teams where he would be a good addition…
Houston
Chicago
LA Clippers
Utah
Mavs
Suns
New York
New Orleans
Memphis

Damn JC, I had successfully blocked from my memory that the Bulls had J.R. They got rid of him for nothing because he wasn’t a “Skiles Player” and they ended up canning Skiles in the middle of the season anyways.
