USA Select Team Adds Jerryd Bayless
Jerryd Bayless (photo. Aaron Taylor)In this morning’s Smack we hit on the fact that Vegas Summer League terror Jerryd Bayless was curiously left off the roster for the USA Select squad that will be scrimmaging the USAB varsity while guys like O.J. Mayo and the Robin Lopez made the cut.
This afternoon the USAB program announced that Bayless has in fact been added to the team that will scrimmage the big boys. This is good move for the program. After averaging close to 30 a game in Vegas, Bayless was clearly one the best – if not the best – players in the summer league.
The rest of the roster looks like this: LaMarcus Aldridge; Kevin Durant; Jeff Green; Luther Head; Al Horford; Andre Iguodala; Robin Lopez; Kevin Love; Kevin Martin; O.J. Mayo; Derrick Rose and Rodney Stuckey.

I’m sorry but Portland is loaded with talent and potential. J-Bay can run the 2 while B-Roy runs the 1. Granted their bodies are better suited for the opposite popsitioning but their games fit in nicely this way.

“J-Bay” sounds really … um … festive.

Haha, true, true. I’ve tried multiple combinations so far…and “J-Bay” despite its festiveness…beat out “J-Less”
I’m open to suggestions.

Mr. Irrelevant says:
No Al Thornton? He’s at least as good as Jeff Green and Luther Head.

Austin Burton says:
“Pay Up” actually came from Bobbito Garcia, who’s in the Dime/Bounce family but coined it during the Elite 24 game at Rucker Park.

Luther head did seem questionable, but he is a hell of a shooter. Im curious to see who shines out of this hungry group vs. The varsity squad

I have 2 questions
1. Did Robin Lopez make the team over Brook just so team USA can get used to loooking at Anderson Varejao?
2. Assuming down the road D’antoni, Colangelo, and Kryzewski are still in charge will Bayless make the USA active roster even though they denied Gil?

varejo didn’t play for brazil which didn’t qualify for the olympics.

@ Nick
I am kind of beefing with Foye right now…I dont know what to expect from him I dont know if he is athletic enough to be a REAL combo gaurd….he is in a bad situation in Minny too so things don’t look too good for him. Who should replace Deng…I would say Iggy but i truly dislike his game and I hate the scotty pippen comparisons with him. Maybe danny granger?

Iggy is Iguodala…

nick says:
iggy is good or even granger. I would say granger is a better scorer and rebounder but iggy has more of the total package. monta would be a good pick too.
how about rondo, his defense gets him there in my book, not sure how much of a liability he would be with his jump shot.
