Who Will Win the Position Battle: Small Forwards
Is Q’s job in jeopardy? It’s not even close. More than any other position in the League, it seems like every team has one small forward who has the position on lock: LeBron, Carmelo, Pierce, Caron, Rashard Lewis, Marion, Gay, Iguodala, AK47, Odom, Artest, Josh Howard, Danny Granger, Richard Jefferson, Deng, Tayshaun …
Going around the League, it’s actually hard to find a team that has any question as to who will start at the three. Here are the only battles we could find…
Tell us who you think will win each battle:
* New York: Quentin Richardson vs. Wilson Chandler vs. Danilo Gallinari
* New Jersey: Yi Jianlian vs. Bobby Simmons vs. Chris Douglas-Roberts vs. Jarvis Hayes
* Minnesota: Corey Brewer vs. Ryan Gomes vs. Rodney Carney
* San Antonio: Bruce Bowen vs. Ime Udoka (will Pop pass the torch from one to the other this season?)
* LA Clippers: Al Thornton vs. Tim Thomas vs. Marcus Williams (Arizona)
* Phoenix: Matt Barnes vs. Alando Tucker vs. Grant Hill vs. Boris Diaw
* Portland: Travis Outlaw vs. Martell Webster

Bruce will remain a starter. If it weren’t for that BS suspension, he’d still have that “consecutive games started” streak going.

I think Iggy gonna play the 2 with Thad Young at the 3 if they smart. But I got Q at first for the Knicks on the strength he play for the coach and lost weight so he can jack them treys up but Gallinari could take his spot if he a legit out there.I got Yi for the Nets just because CDR gonna be a off the bench scorer and the other 2 stink. In Minnesota Im going with Brewer in the beginning but if he dont step it up Gomes will take his spot and Carney might take his minutes too.For the Spurs Bruce got that spot until he fall off and I still seen him clamping shit up last year.Al Thort for the Clips no contest. For the Suns Tucker I like his game and with a new coach it aint gonna be no fovortism. And for Portland Outlaw with Webster 3 pt specialist off the bench.

the mamba says:
Knicks _ I think crawford might start at pg (I know, no one else will touch the ball). Q at the 2, and chandler at the 3. The knicks aren’t very good, so I think d’antoni will experiment w/ his spare parts a lot to see who he likes.
Jersey _ yi keeping the spot warm till lebron gets to town
Minny _ brewer, gomes is better player but more of a 4 man
San an _ bowen, for now
Clips _ thorton, easy call
Phoenix _ hill will start, but I can see him having a decline in minutes even if he stays healthy
Portland _ outlaw, diaw might start racking up dnp’s with d’antoni outta town. Remember how bad he was when the hawks tried him at point?

I cant wait for the day somebody knocks out Bowen.
Im not sure if its gonna be an opposing player, coach or just a random fan who tired of seeing his cheapshots.
Cheap Shot Bobby (Robert Horry), Bruce Bowen, Manu Ginobli, man this team’s full of floppers and cheaters…

ITS NO WONDER WHY THEY NEVER REPEATED, their “dynasty” is as worthy as George Bush’s intelligence. In fact, when the Spurs win, the best thing to do is bet against them in the playoffs the following year, these chokers aint winners. How you got the “best” team but you lose the title every second year? The best team doesn’t win 50% of the time, ask Jordan, Shaq, Hakeem, they’ll tell you what being a real champ is all about…

Chaos says:
NYK: Danilo Galinari (i am a big Q-Rich fan, but he will prolly be best a a shooter off the bench. They put so much into the drafting of Galinari that they have to justify the decision and they have to start him. they already got booed for the pick and not playing him makes matters worse. I havent seen Chandler play this summer but i heard he was making cats look foolish so he may have a chance)
NJN: Yi Jianlian (marketing. thats where he wanted to be in the first place so the Nets will take advantage and attract the asian community to Jersey and then Brooklyn when they move. CDR and Hayes can actually play the 2 or 3 so the Nets have enough back court strength)
Minny: Corey Brewer (really a toss up cuz they each bring something different. Gomes can play 4 in a small lineup. and i think Carney is a better scorer but ultimately i think Miller will start at the 3. unless brewer put on some weight and improved his offensive game he wont be seeing much burn)
S.A.: Bruce Bowen (he’s not done yet but the end is near. instead of using his physical abilities and skill, he is relying more and more on dirty little tricks and cheap shots to defend players. he can still hit the corner three but he is one sprain away from retirement)
LAC: AL Thornton (Mr. Excitement by a landslide, why was this a discussion. Thomas is never gonna live up to the potential.)
Pheonix: Grant Hill (sorry but i still think a healthy Grant Hill is better than the rest of the 3s on the team. Barnes can run the 4 in a smaller lineup and Alando tucker will eventually take over hills spot once he leaves, Boris Diaw had his chance)
Portland: Toss up (niether has proved that they deserve to start. they should run blake, bayless and roy as 1-2-3 or bayless, hernandez and roy as 1-2-3)

Dime Magazine says:
Do you think they’d really start Gallinari to justify taking him at No. 6? Doesn’t that sound like the type of poor management that they’re trying to move past?

BlazeMcHerbs says:
Gallinari is not ready to start, but Q-Rich needs to go so he’ll start and maybe even do good in a shot happy offense like D’Antoni’s but he’s getting shipped ASAP. I’d like to see Chandler get some burn…

* New York: Quentin Richardson. STRIVED in that d’antoni’s system when with suns. prolly gonna try it again.
* New Jersey: jarvis has the experience and is more consistent.
* Minnesota: gomes because of his newly signed contract.
* San Antonio: dont like either. but bruce is better… right now.
* LA Clippers: give it to al thornton!
* Phoenix: grant hill.
* Portland: its a toss up. both have improved. i think martell would be better tho. oden/aldridge in the paint. bayless the penetrator. roy could do anything. but if ever in a jam. pass it to the shooter on the perimeter.
