Alando Tucker Is Going to the Dan Majerle School of Shooting

Suns

First, we heard that Javaris Crittenton had been spending time working with Mark Price on his jumper. While that’s pretty much as good as it gets, Alando Tucker isn’t doing too badly for himself by getting private lessons from Dan Majerle.

Even though Tucker has been in the League for a year, if you search his name in ESPN’s browser, it brings you to his page at Wisconsin. For all intent and purposes, he still hasn’t made it to the L. But he spent his summer working his tail off with Thunder Dan to address the biggest criticism of his game.

My 3-point shooting has really improved as has my ability to shoot off the dribble,” Tucker writes on his blog. “Working with assistant coach Dan Majerle, I’ve gotten a lot more shooting reps then usual and there have been times when I’ve shot the ball so much I could no longer lift up my shooting arm. That hard work though is really resulting in more confidence when it comes to me shooting the ball.”

“Thunder Dan” helped coach our team in Vegas and was great. He’s easy to interact with, fun to talk to and the guys really appreciate that. Most importantly, he understands the game and offers a lot of basketball knowledge to his players. He’s just like me in the sense he eats, sleeps and breathes the game of basketball and it was great playing for somebody like that. He offers a lot of help but at the same time he’s intense when we hit the court.”

Tucker added that he, D.J. Strawberry, Boris Diaw and Amare are all together already on the Suns premises preparing for the season.

Can you see a situation this year in which Alando Tucker gets some burn for Phoenix?

If he dont get no burn this year I had him overhyped coming out of school.Because I still think he can be a solid NBA starter in the league one day.

  2. shake&bake says:

He’s a good athlete and a smart player. If he gets his shot consistent, he’ll be a nice all-around player.

  3. 2 mins "Vinnie Johnson" says:

uh yeah, Grant Hill can’t play major minutes, only in stretches….

Matt Barnes? is the only one in the way of Tucker getting some burn…So I say he will have a lot of opporturnities to prove himself…

DJ Strawberry is playing the point?

Point Guard Steve Nash D.J. Strawberry
Shooting Guard Raja Bell Leandro Barbosa
Small Forward Grant Hill Matt Barnes Alando Tucker
Power Forward Amare Stoudemire Boris Diaw Louis Amundson
    Center Shaquille O’Neal Robin Lopez

thunder dan was one of my favorite players growing up! if he can’t make the kid better, nobody can! haha

  5. Mad Max says:

I can see Tucker getting major burn on the bench.
He won’t see the floor except in garbage time

  6. Spliff 2 My Lou says:

We just don’t know yet how new coach Porter will use the bench. D’Antoni only liked to use a 7-8 man rotation. Porter might go to the bench more. With Grant Hill as injury prone as he is all it takes is for him to get injured and Tucker might get some good burn.

  7. GEE...I'm da pappy! says:

Imma have to say naw on this one that he ain’t gonna get a lot of burn unless injury perhaps to someone. I just don’t see it. Still if he does I hope he does well. Shoot the ball!

  8. sans says:

Didn’t they bring over Dragic? Now they got to find a spot for DJ, freak athlete, Strawberry…looks bad for Alando.
