Fans of Shaq and Ben Wallace have to wonder why their guys get so much grief for their free throw woes while Chuck Hayes gets off like O.J. The fact that Chuck only took 24 freebies this year, and hardly any of them in crunch-time situations, is the root of the discrepancy — but his 45-percent shooting clip and disgusting form makes you wonder why teams don’t just Hack-a-Chuck whenever dude sets foot on the court. The crazy part is that Hayes was a four-year starter at Kentucky, and before that, played at Modesto Christian, one of the elite high school programs in California. Why wasn’t he coached better than this? The look on Allen Iverson’s face and Clyde Drexler’s pained, “Chuck, we need to speak” says it all here…

My High School team beat Modesto Christian in 1994 in the state playoffs … they didn’t have any black people on the team then a couple of years later or maybe the year after, their squad was over 50% black and ballin’ 100% better. Amazing what a couple of seasons can do for a school.
