The guy the U.S. sends out it isn't necessarily the clutch sniper who gets the bad guys when bombs are going off all over the place. They send the guy who taught that guy how to shoot! The country kid who used to shoot tin cans on his barn for 5hrs a day. He doesn't fight in the wars.. he may not be the most athletic but he can shoot his ass off! Under "default" conditions he can hit the center of a bullseye no questions asked. All of these guys, Reggie.. Ray Allen.. they're good but similar to the soldiers aforementioned earlier.. they run around and can hit under duress and all that. However, when you're crowning the best shooter.. none of that matters. You send the guys who hit the bullseye just straight out. Clutchness doesnt matter as much. Whether he's a spot up jump shooter does NOT matter. You choose the guy with the all-time highest 3-pt percentage in NBA History... and you don't make him a #8 seed.
