Dream Team Would Destroy Redeem Team

Kobe BryantNo way MJ lets him win

One of our guys from back in the HoopsTV.com days, Dan Wetzel, now writes for Yahoo!Sports. Today he breaks down what a ‘92 Dream Team vs. today’s Redeem Team would look like. (click HERE for massive Dream Team buckets in Barcelona to refresh your memory) The matchups are sick: MJ vs. Kobe, Magic and John Stockton vs. the three-headed point guard monster of Kidd/Paul/Deron Williams, Scottie Pippen vs. LeBron, etc.

MJ’s leadership and willpower aside (There’s no way he lets his team lose to a younger group getting Kobe and LeBron-level hype. He would live to beat them down.), this matchup, as Dan rightly points out, would be decided in the post, where the Dream Team would slaughter the Redeem Team’s bigs.

It is inside where the 1992 team would hold a significant advantage and likely determine the game.

The Dream Team’s post combinations were breathtaking – Patrick Ewing and David Robinson at center and Charles Barkley and Karl Malone at power forward, all in their prime. The current group of Dwight Howard, a tender 21 years old, Chris Bosh and Boozer would be overwhelmed and perhaps systematically fouled out. Carmelo Anthony, an uninterested defender, would have to be counted on here to help.

The only way for the current team to win would be to push the ball, score in transition and find a way to prevent the 1992 club from dumping it down low.

Dwight’s size and athleticism would obviously be a problem for the Dream Team, but is he that much bigger and stronger than a young David Robinson? The Admiral was a physical freak well before ballplayers lived in the weight room. And don’t even get me started on what a Ewing/Malone/Barkley combo (Charles could do THIS the night before and still be a nightmare on the court the next day) would do to Chris Bosh and Carlos Boozer. They’re both nice, but come on. It would be a bloodletting.

Dream Team wins, and they do it handily.

What do you think?

I can’t believe this is even up for argument…no contest with Dream Team coming out on top. I’m not saying it would be a massacre…but come on.

  2. craig990 says:

I agree… Dream team would kill!

MJ would never loose to Kobe and Bron.
Kidd can’t stop Magic because he’s too slow, CP3 would be too small, Deron would be there only chance there.

Sottie would lock down LeBron while Bron takes it from Scottie.

But the big men would destroy!.. its no contest!

No contest.. id say Dream team wins by 15

  3. Dime Magazine says:

    August -

I obviously agree, but there are a lot of people who think this current squad is the greatest thing ever.

    - PC

  4. craig990 says:

Oh and.. back then.. they played real D in the NBA.. you could touch, and push, and poke on Defense.

Guys like LeBron (who in todays game can just attack the basket with ease.. knowing a defender can touch him or do anything but move his feet to stay in front of him). wouldnt know how to shake the rought neck type defense of the past

  5. me says:

lebron would get buckets. Everyone else wouldn’t. redeem team would be within 15- until the dream team scores 18. Dream team by 40 unless they get bored.

  6. yoda says:

hmm on side note, kidd (at least from few years ago) would be great addition to dream team. he would blend in perfectly .

  7. bigJack says:

definitely not a fair comparison. 92 was the best of the best. Redeem is not the Best of the NBA. It’s who committed to the program in a selection process designed for international ball. 92 was about sending the league’s best.

  8. Batman says:

That’s not really fair. Dream team could design a “play” where Barkley bullrushes the paint and he’d probably knock everyone but Lebron and Howard out of the game with concussions.

  9. Shakers says:

If you added KG and Duncan to the Redeem Team instead of Prince and Boozer (making it the REAL best of today’s US players) it would be a lot better game. The Dream Team would only win by 10 or so. That would be some great ball.

  10. doc says:

I think it would be closer than people think.I mean its easy to say they would kill this team but besides the bigs being better I dont see no clear enough advantage for no ass whipping.I would give Dream Team the game just because they had the most dudes in their prime. This team still got young pups on it but Im not with that 15 point beatdown.I say it stays within double digits.@Craig-The D dont really matter since we playing Olympic style. You cant say nobody would get buckets but Bron like Kobe and Wade garbage or some shit.I know mike the Goat but this nobody would score on him shit is getting ridiculous.I’ve seen a young Kobe give him buckets and Kobe aint do shit but improve.Bron gonna run through whoever guarding him.Wade gonna get his numbers. And our PG’s will give Young Stock and HIV-having Magic problems. The longer guys stay retired the better they become in people heads. That team was the shit but this team can hang.People get that team miscontrued like they was all in the prime of they life.Bird couldnt even run down the court because his back was so fucked up.Dream team by 3.

  11. Blue says:

dude…i think if you take those players from the dream team and put them up against the against the greatest players of all time (other than the dream team members), i think the dream team would beat just about anyone.

what lineup could beat the dream team? all time!

  12. doc says:

But if you get the real best players involved, like KG and Timmy and throw nut ass Boozer-AKA the human victory cigar. The the dreamers got a problem on thier hands.

  13. Celts Fan says:

MJ would make it his personal mission to take Kobe’s lunch money, Pip would slow down LeBron, the bigs would own the paint. Dream Team by 30, MJ drops 40, Kobe’s left shook, a shell of his former self. and the biggest mismatch is at point. Who Ds up Magic? (Even JKidd’s much shorter than Magic and he can’t score AT ALL, or do you run CP3 or Deron and watch them get owned physically? LeBron at the point to match Magic physically but mess up their rotation at the 3/misuse his gifts having to distribute instead of finish? There’s no good answer)

There’s a reason everyone says this was the best team ever. The GOAT, Magic (my #2 all time,) Larry Legend (undeniably top 10,) Stockton & Malone (both top 20) and the rest of the team’s rounded out by HOFers that were all in the top 10 in their positions all time (and Christian - shoulda been Shaq like some people wanted - Lattner, who’s one of the best college players ever anyway.) This team would own ANYONE.

btw, I’d take the ‘96 Team over the current one too, but it’d definitely be closer…

  14. Michorizo says:

Post play is limited in international play due to the trapazoid … so I wouldn’t focus on the post as being an advantage. I think both teams are great and I can start an argument to go either way, but Jordan proved to never bet against him during those years.

  15. Shakers says:

    PG Oscar, Nash
    SG Kobe, West
    SF Dr. J, Lebron, Hondo
    PF Russell, Duncan
    C Kareem, Wilt, Shaq

All these guys in their prime would beat the Dream Team in the stage they were at in their careers. Come on now.

  16. Celts Fan says:

Shakers, you forget about their secret weapon. If they got in trouble, Magic could just cut himself and start driving. Who’s gonna D him up?

    I’m going to hell…

  17. Shakers says:

Oh man, you do have a meeting with the Devil.

  18. Dagomar says:

Hard to say right now, because the Redeem Team hasn’t won anything.

But it’s important to remember that many of the big names on the Dream Team were past their primes. Conversely, many of the guys on this team are really young. Hell, Lebron is their battle-tested leader, and he’s like 5 years from his prime.

The matchups are interesting. The Redeem has the edge at point; Magic had been retired for a year already when he played, and I think Paul has become so great that he would cancel out Stockton. So the Redeem has a bit more depth there. MJ roasts Kobe, but Wade creams Drexler. And Lebron is just way too big for Pippin, as a great a defensive player as Pippin was.

But it’s true, the Dream Team would kill the Redeem Team down low. Still, were their bigs really best suited for international ball? Although I will say this: those guys in their prime could run and rebound and score with the best of them, and I don’t think the Redeem Team would stand a chance.

Everyone playing their hardest, I think the Dream Team wins by 10.

Agreed with Shakes though. Wilt alone would annihilate the inside against the Dream Team. Most underrated player in the history of professional sport.

  19. Blue says:

    damn celts…

    that was fucked up! haha

almost as fucked up as the flava flav roast a while back where they said that flava flav looks like magic johnson should look! hahaha

    but shakers…
i think the only place that your all-time beats out the dream team is at the C spot. i’m not sayin’ the dream team would destroy’em, but i think they’d pull it out.

  20. Shakers says:

I think people are still pretending that Magic and Bird were in their primes with the Dream Team. Putting 1986 Bird and Magic on the Dream Team is a whole ‘nother story.

  21. Jules says:

Talk about owning the Redeem Team in the post. How about the 96 team? Shaq… Hakeem… David Robinson… It’d be ugly by the late 3rd

  22. Batman says:

    @Shakers

That’s not a great comparison to make, because now we are taking the best players from different eras and creating a “super” dream team. The real dream team and the redeem team are teams that had guys in their current playing state, instead of cherry picking guys from different decades and putting them together.

However, the debate of what would be the best possible team to make with anyone from any era is an interesting debate, and I’m sure Dime has already done that before…and if they haven’t then they should.

  23. Shakers says:

I was responding to Blue a few posts above. It got the wheels rolling.

    Blue says:

dude…i think if you take those players from the dream team and put them up against the against the greatest players of all time (other than the dream team members), i think the dream team would beat just about anyone.

what lineup could beat the dream team? all time!

  24. fallinup says:

It would be a massacre. Nuff said. I read most of these comments and not anything on how Barkley would man handle Boozer, Melo, and even Lebron. The bigs are just way too great for 08’s bigs. And GOAT. GOAT, peoples….

Even an older Magic and a Gimpy Bird would have their way with the 08 squad.

    Nuff said…This isn’t even a debate.

  25. MoxWestCoastRep says:

I’ll take the redeem team by 40….it wouldnt even be close!
I mean, how old are those guys, like 40?

  26. doug says:

you guys are really putting alot on the dream team there good but there margin of victory had more to do with where the international game was at back then, than where it is now. We have international players winning MVP in the NBA now.If the redeem team played international teams like the ones dream team played in 92 they would be winning by the same margin of victory. That team was great don’t get me wrong but they wouldn’t beat the redeem team don’t be fooled. DOC nailed it right on the head for all you idiots saying KOBE wouldn’t score on MJ,especially Celts Fan, you sound like a recent Celtic Add-on since they actually won something. But you were probably one of the guys leading the MVP chants for KOBE two years ago when the celtics weren’t nothing.Back to my point Kobe destroyed Mike when he was about 19 or 20 years old, he dropped 31 points on him when he was playing for the bulls and he dropped 45 pts on him in three quarters when he was playing for the wizards so stop trying to make Jordan seem like this unpentrable force, KOBE has got with J on several occassions and let’s not forget KOBE went for 81 points in one game of which i witnessed in person. Kobe is the greatest offensive force in NBA history he’s going to get bucket on MJ no doubt.

  27. shake&bake says:

I think the Dream Team would win, but Barkley and Malone would have a hard time guarding Melo on the perimeter. I know Melo wouldn’t be able to stop them either. Melo would get killed on the glass too.
Magic was past his prime and I think CP3 and Deron would be a tough matchup for Stockton. But, Admiral and Ewing would domintae inside.
Don’t forget, the Dream Team had Christian Laetner too! Haha

  28. Blue says:

it’s all hypotheticals man…just gives us something to do ’til the next game! haha

not to change the subject but has anyone seen that hurdler, Lolo Jones? she’s f’in hot!!!

alright, maybe you’re right shakers about magic and bird not in their prime. but MJ…c’mon, it’s MJ!!!

  29. the mamba says:

I hate the whole mj would never lose to kobe arguement. If kobe’s gonna come ready to play vs. Anyone it would definitely be mj in a classic showdown. Then this talk about pippen shutting down lebron, who could shut down lebron? And what happens when bird’s old ass is gaurding lebron? Uh oh. And have u guys seen dwade play this tourney? Dude is on a serious mission. I agree with doc, this game would be much closer than people think. Everyone would be just as competitive playing against dream team

  30. doc says:

And I dont got D-Rob or Pat owning Dwight like Dwight chopped liver or something.Dwight would be making them dudes work.It aint like they both had hearts of steel because i remember they had the Mr.Softie critics in they day.

  31. doc says:

Pippin is one of my favorite players but Bron will toss his ass aside just like he do Tayshaun and them. This the small forward version of Shaq we talkng about.Pip dont want no parts of that.

  32. Blue says:

    yo doc…
the label of being soft back then, i think, is way different than being labeled soft now. it’s the difference between softball soft and nerfball soft!

  33. Big Shot BOB says:

Funny I had this discussion with my boys during the Spain game. They are younger and don’t remember the Dream team fully. The one person people forget from that dream team is Reggie Miller. Who would have stopped him from killing that shorter 3 point line?

  34. Celts Fan says:

“Kobe is the greatest offensive force in NBA history he’s going to get bucket on MJ no doubt.”
@Doug, come on man, Kobe’s a force, but greatest in history? Put down the pipe and let’s be real. Kobe dominates an era where defenses can’t even touch you. In MJs day they could straight push you. MJ coulda dropped the same #s Kobe did if he played in today’s NBA (for the most part, his were better in a less-watered down league - 7 less teams.) Also, the greatest offensive force in history has to be Wilt. Sure, other than Russell, every center he played was like 5′7″ but that’s beyond the point…

I agree Kobe would give MJ some buckets, but MJ would still take his lunch money. Kobe’d have like 20, MJ would drop 40 and be talking the whole time…

  35. doc says:

The invisible man could stop him since he wasnt on that team.Yeah Blue it was a different soft instead of this Pau Gasol soft shit going on but Dwight aint soft enough to be getting owned by nobody.Schooled, can happen,Owned, nah.

  36. Matt says:

Guys what channel do they play Australia on tomorrow? I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

  37. Celts Fan says:

and there’s NO WAY IN HELL MJ loses to the Celtics this year (before we start talking about how good the Bulls were, jsut remember 2 names, Bill Wennington and Ron Harper) so let’s dead that “greatest offensive force ever” talk, especially when he’s kinda shooting like crap in the Olympics too. The guy’s in the top 10, top 5 if you mean only scorers as an “offensive force” but he’s not #1.

  38. doc says:

Naw Celts. Its been to many Kobe vs Mike showdowns in real life to say he would just double up Kobe.Yall got todays players greatness fucked up.Kobe will give Mike that 40 right back.He was giving it back before he got his prime strength.Sure it was rougher D in the 80’s.But Kobe played Mike from 96-98 and Mike was still in his prime. We’ve seen this matchup and I just dont see how people say Mike would just double up Kobe.Im Mike biggest fan but I seen Joe Dumars, and John Starks, and,Jeff Hornacek and Reggie Miller give this man good comp, but Kobe just gonna get destroyed. That dont even make sense since Kobe is better than all of them.Come on now fellas Mike was the goat in my book but he wasnt never just running through shit.He earned every chip he got.You would think he was doing 01 Laker shit every year trying to sweep the playoffs.I remember 7 games against Reggie and Starks, and Dumars getting in his ass,and Horny running him around picks jing his eyes out.Believe it or not Mike just didnt make every shot or get every stop on D.

  39. doc says:

And Celts,Dont sleep on Ron Harper. He was a big part of them last 3 chips. You should know about what Defense do for a team. And Bill wasnt the man at all but dont act like when Mike kicked it to him for that 15 footer it wasnt money.

  40. VQ says:

Dream Team wins. End of Discussion. Jordan wont let them lose. Period.

  41. Allan says:

    @Big Shot BOB

Reggie Miller was never on the 1992 team my friend. And when Reggie did play for the Atlanta team in 96 he sucked the entire tournament shooting the 3s from the a shorter line. I dunno what it is with the shorter 3 pt line that makes great shooters in the NBA digress. Although I do not notice this with FIBA players transitioning from the NBA and then back to FIBA 3 pt line again . . . just watch manu, dirk and the others . .Maybe the NBA needs to shorten the 3 pt line to make the players more competitive in international games in the future . . .

  42. Allan says:

It will be a close match between the Redeem Team and the Dream team. The redeem team can offset Dream Team;s advantage in the frontline by simply running the DReam Teamers out of the court, Man have you seen Lebron and Dwade run with D-will and CP3? . . . The older guys on the Dream team will have a hard time catching up with them for 40 minutes . . .the only guys that can actually hang with them are Jordan and Pippen and perhaps clyde . .but no one else . .so this game is a toss up really who can dominate . . .Dream team with their imposing frontline or the Redeem team’s super high octance open court game heralded by Lebron and Dwade . .

  43. jim mcneill says:

@shakers…nash…get real a)hes not american b) he would get ate alive by magic and stockton. he cant stop anyone, and might be the most overrated player of all time

also a more realistic question is could the dream teams bench beat the “redeem team”

  44. doug says:

Celts fan your on some different stuff.Kobe didn’t have Pippen either.Kobe has Pau Gasoft whom prior to coming to the Lakers never even one a single playoff game.Man you must have just started watching basketball. As far as Kobes performance in the olympics he has nothing to prove as far as shooting you idiot that guy could’ve retired after he scored 81 points in that game against Toronto. As far as him being the greatest offensive force ever you don’t have to agree prior to this year if you’ve always been a celtic fan, you probably can’t even remember what the word offense meant, wasn’t you guys most notably scoring after the 80’s and prior to this year,Antoine Walker and Paul Pierce, no bueno. You guys traded for two players that were the respective franchise player for there prior teams(Ray Allen & KG) and your obviously feeling yourself to a point where your arrogance is impairing your logical thinking.Listen Celt Fan I was watching the game last year when Kobe went for 40 on you guys and your same friends that were booing him this year were shouting”MVP”from the stands while literally dismantled your celtics and Paul Pierce with a starting 5 that included Smush Parker and Kwame Brown, get a clue and stop hating.DOC is the only one with any sense today, you don’t have to agree with the fact that Kobe can score on MJ.As a youth Kobe was going after this cat like he said something about his mom.If MJ scored 40 on Kobe,Kobe would score 60 on MJ.Theres no way MJ is stopping KOBE by himself.Pippen tried to do that when he played for the BLAZERS and KOBE humbled him.J tried to do that when Kobe was only 19 and KOBE dropped 30 plus on him and this is when he played for the Bulls.KOBE’s body count is too much to name, Raja,Artest,Bowen,Doug Christie,Ruben Patterson(self-proclaimed Kobe Stopper)half of these cats are all-league defenders and 1 of them has been Defensive Player of the year.Kobe gets his the only reason the celtics won was because they played excellent team D on Kobe and Kobe’s teammates didn’t come through for him when he was double teamed. But you know as well as I know there isn’t one single person who can gaurd Kobe one on one and besides Kobes assignment on this team isn’t to put up point everyone in the world accept you knows he can score.Kobe is the defensive stopper on the team my man”dobermamba”check your facts Celts Fan.

  45. Celts Fan says:

@Doc, Harper was legit, I liked him a lot, big part of a few of those Lakers titles too. Wennington had a nice jumper too, just trying to save time for people that were gonna say the Bulls were loaded, cuz after Pippen and Rodman, it was those guys. They were nice pieces, but Wennington especially had no business starting for a title team (or Luc Longley, either way.)

and I just see MJ taking it personally and going at Kobe over and over. He may start gunning, especially when they inevitably start jawing, that’s why I see Mike dropping 40, cuz he’d take most of the shots the second Kobe said a word back! MJ would go into gunner, “embarrass this guy in front of me who thinks he’s better than me” mode. and don’t forget, the ‘92 MJ was in his athletic prime and had a DEfensive POY or 2 on his mantle, the ‘96-’98 version was mcuh more ground-bound and had to be smarter. We have the crazy athletic one in this discussion, so the Kobe vs. MJ things we actually got to see were a past-his-prime MJ vs. a not-yet-in-his-prime Kobe…

@Allan, FIBA’s apparently changing the lane to a rectangle and backing up the 3 pt. line about a foot and a half so it’s barely shorter than the NBA’s. This’ll be in effect for London, but don’t know specifically when…

  46. doug says:

VQ Redeem team wins KOBE won’t let them lose.BIRD and Magic were way too old to handle the like of Bron & Melo,it’s not about MJ letting them lose it’s about them being passed there prime and the redeem team being younger, quicker and stronger.Redeem team by 10 pts.holla back!

  47. boogeybanger says:

Larry Legend would be launching 3’s. Stock would be getting mad love from the olympic officials like he got in the L. The dream shake would have guys jumping out of the gym on fakes, on an on. Players knew how to play back them. They could defend pick and rolls. The game back then was more skill based and now with the new rules its based more on athleticism. I’m not a hater, the game is more entertaining now but back in the day the 6th or 7th guy cold play both sides of the ball and wasn’t just a specialist.

  48. doug says:

Celts Fan did you just start watching basketball ? there is nothing for you to imagine regarding the Kobe & MJ match-up this match-up has already taken place and MJ never double up on Kobe.Every game Kobe played him MJ&Kobe scored the same amount of points, your talking about MJ’s mentality of embarassing Kobe, Kobe is the exact same dude he doesn’t slack a minute all his opponents say he is relentless and is the most competitive person they’ve ever played against.Open your eyes man it wouldn’t happen listen to DOC and people that have been life long basketball fans you moronic bafoon.

  49. Celts Fan says:

Doug, who said Kobe had something to prove? Seriously, keep making up things I said then argue against them. I don’t know how saying the guy’s a top 5-10 offensive force ever but just not #1 is disrespecting him, but sure. Read my post after if you really wanna know why I think that (short version: MJ starts gunning) but feel free to keep making up what I said and arguing against yourself, it’s kinda funny…

also, HILARIOUS video at the bottom of this page:
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/extramustard/specials/morning_jolt/2008/08/19/morning.jolt/index.html

  50. doug says:

MJ has only won one defensive player of the year award and it was in 1988 or 1986 he never won 2 of these awards and Kobe did play J in his prime,in fact I would argue J didn’t play Kobe in his prime. If J would have played the 2006 Kobe(34 ppg,81 points in one game,62 points in three quarters against dallas,5 games in a row of 50 points or more all games he won)Kobe would have defocated on J.So stop it with all this Kobe playing J in his prime J hade won about 5 championships by the time Kobe first played him as a starter.J would need to be worried about playing Kobe in his prime Celts Fan.Wake up man,get NBA league pass and come to me as an educated basketball fan.

  51. doug says:

Celts Fan BJ armstrong played with Jordan when he won his first three titles. I have an article that I’m reading that he wrote in 2006 on who his top 5 greatest players of all-time are this is his quote “in no particular order Jordan,Magic,Wilt Chamberlin,Kobe Bryant and Kareem”I think I’ll take the opinion of someone who played along side the alleged greatest player of all-time than a guy who’s probably never played a game of organized basketball in his life.I played basketball all the way up to the collegiate level and I’ve seen Kobe play in person so I think you’d be hard pressed to find another 4 players to put ahead of him.

  52. Celts Fan says:

@Doug, when did this matchup take place? MJ never played Kobe when either were in their prime. MJ solidified his GOAT status with everything he did in the early 90’s (aka THIS MJ) and just added to it in the late 90s, after his hops had started leaving. Also, MJ shot over (or BARELY under) 50% for his career, Kobe’s at 45%, so MJ was more efficient too (and Kobe’s yet to hit the, “hops are gone, have to rely on veteran moves” point of his career yet.)

Finally, you just said a team would beat the Dream Team, but I’m the bufoon? That is all…

  53. Celts Fan says:

“BJ armstrong played with Jordan when he won his first three titles. I have an article that I’m reading that he wrote in 2006 on who his top 5 greatest players of all-time are this is his quote “in no particular order Jordan,Magic,Wilt Chamberlin,Kobe Bryant and Kareem”

if you can find where I ever said anything about that, then I’ll give you $100. You’re just throwing things out that have NOTHING to do w/ what we’re talking about. no one’s saying Kobe’s not great.

  54. doug says:

You definitely fit the mold of what I think a Celts Fan is.MJ was close to his prime at the time Kobe played him than was Kobe.Kobe was so young you fool.Kobe hadn’t even honed his skills.Even when he was killing J in the 98 all-star game Kobe was still a mere 20-21 years of age.Stop reading sport illustrated and taking short cuts put in your years as a true basketball fan mix in a subscription of NBA league pass and come back to me when you proven yourself worthy to have an educated discussion about Kobe vs: MJ, you can’t read articles about Kobe vs:MJ and take them as your own you have to form your own opinions based on what you’ve seen and know about basketball which obviously is nothing.

  55. doug says:

Oh yeah,Kobe shot more three’s than J which brings down his fg% he actually holds that record too 12 three pointers in one game he’s actually tied with Donyell Marshall for most three pointers in a game.MJ also get’s more foul calls than Kobe he had the NBA by the testicles. No doubt about this even ardent MJ followers acknowledge the fact that if you even looked at J wrong you would get a foul called against you.Kobe doesn’t get this kind of treatment which also contributes to a lower
    fg% for KOBE.

  56. doug says:

I commented with that quote from BJ Armstrong because you said MJ would double on Kobe 40pts to Kobes 20pts based on Kobes catalog it’s quite disrespectful to say this and it’s founded on nothingness. It leaves me no other label for you but Kobe-hater.

  57. Michorizo says:

Is this an MJ vs KOBE forum or Dream Team vs Redeem team or is this turning out to be Doug Vs Celts? … I gotta go with Celts … I haven’t read all his comments on here yet, but he is a veteran with Dime known skills that have improved over time. doug still has something to prove. Though it sounds like he is making his claim to fame now, I don’t see him dethroning Celts anytime soon.

  58. doug says:

Michorizo I’ve been a life long student of the game.I just don’t have time to do this everyday because I have a job….I’m proven already my man…and you have you ever played a game of organized basketball or watched basketball for more than 10 years. If so you know that what i’m saying is correct. So stop being a human pair of underoos for your boy celts fan and form an opinion based on what you know not how much cred you thing this loser has because he comments on dimemag.com everday due to his unemployment.Besides your name sounds like you should be engaged in a conversation for a soccer forum not basketball, get it together Michorizo and roll out of Celts fans bed he won’t respect you in the morning, get of his nuts.

in 96-98 Jordan was 33-35 years old. Kidd is 35 and yall act like hes a dinosaur. Pre-prime Kobe was Hittin up post prime Jordan. Jordan was in his prime in 92, 29 years old. Yall young cats didn’t see that Jordan. forget about the skills, watch the highlights. He was quicker than Kobe ever was. Kobe now and Jordan in 1992 were/are both 29. Mike would eat kobes ass up, and yes he would double his score.

  60. Jules says:

Chris Mullin would give Mike Redd BUCKETS. ;P

  61. me says:

yeah were forgetting all the other members- reggie and mullin were killers, magic is too big, but bird would have to stay in the locker room with his chiropractor. His back was f-ed up back then.

  62. Michorizo says:

doug … you have some pent up anger in you.

  63. me says:

and the new post of mj’s first 40 point game should shut the kobe fans up. look at those ROOKIE averages. And that’s before he got superstar calls, and kobe’s never seen defenses as rough as he did then. His rookie numbers would be damn near a career year for anyone else-even kobe. Guys now get 9 figure deals with mj’s rookie stats. Don’t sleep on mike, anyone that is i’d have to assume is too young to have watched him in his prime. highlights and dvd’s don’t count.

  64. Agent J says:

Pippin slow LeBron??!!! People must be living in the past here. Lets be real, give credit and lets not over-hype even the greats of the dream team,. These are all professionals and in competition, blowouts are rare when talent is there.
    Pippin slows LeBron??!!
    Pippin slows LeBron??!!
    Pippin slows LeBron??!!
Are people really understanding what they are writing? As much as Pippin may have caused an issue with LeBron, anyone who thinks that Pippin would SLOW DOWN LeBron is not understanding basketball!

  65. chrisGO says:

    doug…u mad?

  66. doug says:

Me MJ came into a totally different situation than KOBE MJ didn’t face many expectations as prior to him coming there the bulls were a losing franchise and his coach was a very unpolished Doug Collins.Kobe came into a historically winning franchise with out any college experience at the age of 17 years old and ofcourse Shaq was there too. What i’m saying to you “me” is MJ had the green light to shoot everytime down the floor and he wouldn’t get any lip from the coach or any other superstar player because there weren’t any on his team.MJ was the man but you have to consider the circumstance Kobe was in quite different than J’s just something to think about because you sound like a Kobe hater too.

  67. Michaelb says:

People over romantacize the past. The dream team would barley beat this team, becasue of their advantage on the inside. ON the perimeter this team is far superior to the dream team, Kobe, Lebon, D-Wade, CP3 and Deron Williams are all in their primes whereas, only Jordan was in his prime on the Dream team. Magic was overwieght after coming out of retirement. Clyde was past his prime, Stockton had a bum knee, Chris Mullin was slow and Bird’s back was falling off.

  68. Dagomar says:

doug, you exemplify what I hate about Kobe lovers. I like Kobe as much as the next guy, but it’s like you have a man crush on the guy or something. You’re getting so excited I can barely read some of your posts. I mean you’re talking about how Kobe roasted Jordan while Jordan was playing with Wizards and 40 years old . . . lol. Come on. That’s like Dwight Howard crowning Shaq now. Shaq was still far better in his prime.

I don’t think it’s much a debate as to who’s better between Kobe and Jordan. But does the Dream Team have a better one, two, three punch than Lebron, Kobe and Dwayne? Don’t think so.

  69. Michaelb says:

People keep saying Jordan would roast Kobe. Obvioulsy i don’t think Kobe could stop Jordan, but Jordan couldn’t stop Kobe as a rookie what makes you think he could do it to this Kobe.

  70. Ian says:

    celts fan comon now
wilt woulda destroyed anyone stop that about he being taller
shaq is bigger than everyone and we dont hold that agains him
wilt is the best offensive player ever no excuses

    now

    dream team
bird would get destroyed vs this team he couldnt even move by then
    pippen stoppin lebron hell no
    lebron would run over him
mj and kobe i hate kobe people but lets get real those two can play each other to a draw in terms of scoring the difference would be that jordan would know when to feed the admiral or malone while kobe is just stupid and jack a off balance jumper

pgs its all magic and stockton
paul and deron would go nuts playing vs stockton all that dirty crap he did

malone and charles kill all the fowards and david robinson in his prime is d.howard with offense so i say david kills him easy

    dream team by 15

  71. Michaelb says:

Truth is Jordan was a t best defensivly in the 80s when the after drexler the best sg was f**king chuck person. When the 90s came and the sg’s became bigger and more Jordans size a lot of times he got worked. Penny and grant hill, but especailly penny used to destroy Jordan on the regular, Hell Reggie gave Jordan problems and all he did was come of screens all day.

  72. doc says:

Fuck all them stats. All I know is Mike is my Goat, but Kobe aint getting doubled up by the goat or no fucking body else. Both in their prime would be the best 2 guard matchup we would ever see in our lifes, and we wont see it.

  73. Michaelb says:

Thats waht I;m saying. Yeah Jordan is goat, but to say Kobe who is without question one of the top three ofensive weapons ever(look at the record books people, he’s second or third in everything)would get destroyed is just stupid.

  74. doug says:

doc is the only person with any sense. What he’s saying is all i’m saying Kobe and getting doubled up by J.It’s going to be a war.

  75. Celts Fan says:

@Ian, I agree, I just put that out there to stop anyone from saying it back. I was saying he was #1, EASILY #1

  76. doug says:

dagomar I think your having a problem with your reading and comprehension skills I didn’t say Kobe only dropped 45 on J when he was with the wizards he dropped 31 pts on him when he was with the bulls circa 97-98 and he embarrased J in the 98 allstar game in madison square garden he was the only one with stones big enough to go against the guy and not be scared which is why he’s the best player in the league today.Your argument for J getting murdered when he was 40 and with the wizards could be made for Kobe too. Kobe was still a young kid honing his game on what most believe to be the greatest player of all time.Kobe’s prime years began in 2006 when he broke almost all of J’s scoring records. If the 2006-to presnet Kobe plays the 1988-1992 MJ theres no massacre on either side this is an even draw.ChrisGO your an idiot and sounds like your trying to pile on with that moron michirizo & celts fan.So Chris GO!

  77. jackass says:

one argument can shut all these bryant ballsuckers up. if bryant was such an offensive force, where did he went hiding in the last finals??? cmon now, any of the greats, not the greatest’s, any one of those greats wouldn’t disappear like that!!! never seen such a sore loser, pretty boy, who would crush the weaks but will disappear when facing stronger forces. bryant will never be a top 10 players in the history of nba. period!!!

  78. Celts Fan says:

@Jackass, I think he can be, but he needs to win anothr title (which would make all of 1 that he’d be the best player on the team.) The guy has the skill and I think the Lakers are gonna rattle off at least one, possibly 2 or 3, so he’ll force his way in there like he’s back in Colorado (sorry, too easy to pass up the joke…)

@Doug, this is all I’m gonna say about this, then that’s it. I think MJ goes at Kobe hard and makes a point of GUNNING, I think Kobe passes more. If they both shoot the same %, but MJ shoots double the shots Kobe did, he could double him up and it wouldn’t necessarily mean anything. Shoulda put it like that earlier instead of just saying 40 to 20, but I see MJ going at him over and over and over. On this team, Kobe’s seemed content to pass more than usual, happy that he actually has good teammates for once. I’ll give you guys this, MJ WILL NOT double up Kobe without taking a bunch more shots. Fair enough? Now I’m done w/ this discussion…

  79. doc says:

@jackass-Nobody can stop Kobe 1 on 1.If we Kobe ballsuckers what are you to MJ since you brung that up to help his case? That was team D at its best and props due for Boston they just wasnt letting nobody waltz down that lane for the chip.Bron couldnt even truck his way down that lane. Its crazy people ballsuckers for saying a man wont get doubled up by another man.I aint see nobody say Kobe better yet but dudes have a heart attack when you say somebody close.I think that is ballsucking jackass.Man, players in the league from bums to Hall of Famers say dude is up there.Just gotta respect that. You think dudes like Mark Jackson and them just be talking out they ass saying how great Kobe is?They know from expirience that they watching greatness. You watching it too its just you got your head so far up Mike ass you in his chest wondering why his shit dont stink.

  80. Celts Fan says:

btw, the last line of post 58 had me LMAO. hilarious Doug…

  81. doc says:

@celts-I hear you dog I just dont got Kobe laying down for nobody. The man you saying would try to kill him is the man he grew up emulating. We all did.But the difference between us and Kobe was he really can do that Mike shit while we just dreaming we could. He got that killer inside of him too.Once Mike started jacking Bron and them would give Kobe the rock and step aside so he can do his thing. You seen them all star games against Mike.Kobe wouldnt pass until Mike got out the games.

  82. Brandon Hoffman says:

    Dream Team in 7.

  83. Ian says:

    jackass
i dont thin hell be top 10 but top 20 easy
the list of players in the top ten (for me) its to solid to move anyone for a man that hasnt won being the best on his team but like celts fan mentioned maybe if he won a ring

    in no particular order

    jordan
    duncan
    shaq
    wilt
    russell
    magic
    bird
    orcar
    kareem

get the first 9 spots easily over kobe

but after that i can round up my list with

    kobe
    moses
    hakeem
    admiral
    malone
    stockton
    lebron (he will get there)
    dr j
    gervin
    west

again that list has no order and i dont really know if i let someone out this was out the top of my head
but it might be lebron or kobe fighting for that tenth spot

  84. Ian says:

    doc
it really doesnt matter who scores more really between them cuz the both would want to win so like celts said i can see kobe passing more in that kinda game

  85. me says:

i’m telling yall jordan is underrated by yall. I am a kobe hater but i am a jordan hater too. Nique was my man and jordan put the hawks out the playoffs a few times, Not to mention the dunk contest. Honestly, jordan was too far ahead of everyone else in the league, when i was watching the games (I watched him in his prime so i know, plus i’m from the chi) it looked like it wasn’t even fair. Kind of like watching a young shaq play, he was so big it wasn’t fair to everyone else. MJ was ahead of the league with skill like shaq was with size/strength. Anyway look at the finals, jordan would have NEVER let that happen. NEVER. Doc or anyone can argue that all they want but it’s true. Anyways i think there are some valid points both ways, but MJ said it best, there’s no way kobe beats mj one on one. And I think even doug would concede as to who’s the better team player.

And oh yeah, unless you were around when wilt was doing his thing, no one has seen enough of wilt (highlight reels DO NOT COUNT) to claim him as anything. From what i saw he looks too skinny to dominate todays bigs. and anyone can look like a GOAT on a highlight reel.

  86. chrisGO says:

    @doug
if im an idiot, what does that make you getting all worked up over an internet message board. i just asked if you were mad, no need to get all sensitive. LOL

  87. Ian says:

    me
i can mail u some tapes of wilts games
    that man could do anything
u dont have to see him play every damn game to say hes the best offensive player ever just go check the stats
and who the hell is talking about todays games
please wilt played russell and he played today he plays who??? bogut
so yeah hes the best offensive player ever

this is the easiest basketball arguement ever
it took jordan the greatest player ever to many of u his whole career to have as many 40p games as wilt did in a season
    50ppg yeah sure

another thing why do u have to compare player to todays games it his fault he was born ahead of time are we gonna do that to everyone
cousy sucks cuz he couldnt guard shit today fuck no
everyone is measured to what they did when it was their turn

  88. Kevin K says:

why are people still debating the kobe vs mj… its a no brainer that mj will win. if the dream team played the redeem team, the guy i think that will kill everyone is barkley. there is no one in the redeem team that can possibly guard him except lebron james. lebron is a physical freak but so is barkley…

  89. Things that make you go HMMMMMM.... says:

This is not hard at all. The Dream Team would bully the hell out of this ‘redeem team’, and anyone who thinks it would be close is a damn fool. I’m over the whole MJ vs Kobe nonsense. I appreciate Kobe, but MJ would kill Kobe in his prime…I think some of you may want to go back and watch the MJ archives. Magic would murder Chris Pauls little ass, J-Kidd may have a shot though. I mean I could go down the roster list, but I won’t. I’m young, but I can appreciate what those 92′ guys brought to the table. Some people sound like they are 12 years old in here. Hell I wish I could watch those 92′ guys play in their prime over just about any player in the league that is playing now. Like someone mentioned, this ‘redeem team’ are not all the best of the best in the NBA, they are players that they felt fit together who could commit to international basketball…the Dream Team was the best of the best, period. And they were bullies, which I loved. I remember that people were star struck as hell by that 92′ team during the Olympics, you can’t beat that.

And for the love of god, get off of Kobes nuts already. I like watching him play the game too but some of you act like he is the only great player in the game today, there are a lot of great players in the game today. Kobe is the best player in the NBA right now…MJ was the best player for like ten years strait, theres a difference. Sometimes I wish we could go back in time and have Kobe and Jordan play eachother, just so some of you could see how silly you sound. Kobe and MJ have similarities, but thats about it. MJ is that dude, won’t ever be another him. If MJ was playing today in his prime, we wouldn’t even be worried about Kobe. Now STFU already.

  90. Ian says:

just remembered a wilt interview when he said that if he had the 3point line back then he woulda scored 150 intead of 100 pts lol

please if u cant do the math or understand this is a joke dont reply

  91. Ian says:

    celts fan

Russell, Jabbar, Lanier, McAdoo, Cowens, Bellamy, Unseld, Thurmond, Hayes, Lucas, Schayes, Reed
i know u were kiddin in the post but this is for the fools that really think wilt didnt play vs anyone tell me who else has played against so many hof centers and killed each one easily and lets not forget that they played each other a lot of times per season not only 4 like today

  92. GEE...I'm da pappy! says:

I think if it was just 1 game sure the Dream Team would get it.

Still if you was talking a series like (best of 7), then I would say Dream team in 5 (6 if we restructure the current team).

I think you have a couple of mismatches on both ends. Again as mentioned a lot today I think the bigs are the factor.

I would love to see it though. Still I would rather see the absolute best playing along with the current squad. Like get Boozer, Howard and Bosh off and throw Duncan, K.G. and Stat. in. Paul Pierce got to be on the squad in place of Redd and perhaps some other things.

Then I think you got more of a challenge going on, but still overall yea The Dream Team would win out.

  93. boogeybanger says:

I’d forgoteen about Reggie Miller and Chris Mullin. Everyone forgets Mully was the hard nosed crew cut sportin white guy with ice in his veins (cuz he gave up the sauce). The redeem team is more athletic, but the dream team was the goods.

Here’s how we can decide this one. You and your man shot the rock and you’re captains in a pick up game. Mike and Kobe go 1 & 2. LeBron maybe goes 3rd becuase he can do so much. Who rounds out the next 7. I’m sorry but a good portion of the redeem squad is left calling next. The dream, chuck wagon, reggie, ewing, magic, robinson are all getting burn. If you tell me prime vs prime more redeem squad members get chosen then you’re 12 and you need to be on the porch before the street lights come on.

  94. Big V says:

Dream Team wins this one, but not because of Jordan. Enough with this “Jordan wouldn’t lose to Kobe or Lebron” shit. He’s one guy. Dream Team wins because of their frontline, not because of some astral projection of Jordan’s psyche.

  95. Ian says:

    boogey
reggie and dream were in the 96 team not 92

  96. doug says:

I respect that opinion Big V that makes sense that they win because of dream teams front line atleast it makes more sense than dream team winning because of one mans psyche.Jordan doesn’t have that much mind power if he did he wouldn’t have needed Pippen to win those rings contrary to you MJ fanatics thinking J wouldn’t have won those with out PIP.

  97. doug says:

Things that make you go HMMMMMM….your an idiot and probably live in chicago.MJ and Kobe are the same caliber of player stop stalling him out because you have some personal vendetta against him. Contrary to what you believe there is only about 1 to 3 great players in the game today and Kobe and Lebron are the only locks for this consideration.Your probably one of those guys that throws around the word great like it means nothing. There is a difference between good&great Kobe is great, Dirk,Wade,Paul are good.Get it?Now get out!

  98. doug says:

chrisGO, how do you figure i’m getting worked up.I’m typing you can’t see me I think this is hilarious that people really think this way.Ignorance makes me laugh it doesn’t make mad Dr.Phil.Is there any other personality assesments you want to make about me?No,for real this time, Chris GO!

  99. doug says:

jackass such a fitting name for your posting.Kobe showed up in the finals it was his supporting cast that didn’t show up.The Celtics had a better team that’s all there was to it.They have three franchise players in there starting line up.It will be a different story next year.

  100. doc says:

Yeah everybody throwing the best players on there taliking about they was the best of the best and this team not.It was the same way 11 all stars with one college player. This year its 11 All Stars with D-Will getting his this year.Dudes like Nique,Zeke,Dream,Miller and them was in the league.Thats what Im talking about some things age like fine wine in people heads.Just because somebody was the shit in your memories you make it even better in your head. That team was more mature out there and could gut a victory out but this team could take some wins.Shit that team took a L to they select team a time or two before they turned it up.If Bobby Hurley can steal a win,why cant Bron? All im getting at is a close affair is in the works for this game.

  101. doug says:

Ian you really had to try hard to leave kobe out of your top 10 you put duncan and shaq over Kobe because they wone more rings, when Shaq wouldn’t have won those without WADE or KOBE and Duncan is an absolute no show in playoffs especiall on the free throw line, didn’t T.Parker win the last final MVP.It’s amazing what hatred can do.Ian get a life you need a hug or something.

  102. Michael says:

    @jackass;

Jordan shot 41, 42, and 41% respectivly in each of the last three finals.

  103. Ian says:

    doug
r u serious i have been laughin at your posts all day and tried really hard not to comment
but i think u have problems
first its my opinion and my top ten
and second lol kobe over shaq and duncan in the alltime list

u just confirmed what everyone knew about u
u r just one stupid fuck

  104. doug says:

DOC that’s exactly how people are there a bunch old timers who spend there time reminiscing about the golden years and they can’t appreciate what’s going on now.those dudes were old and i just think the redeem team would get with these cats.

  105. Ian says:

    sorry one more time
duncan a no show in the playoffs
    hahahahahahahahahahahahah
    hahahahahahahahahahhahahh
    omg thanks for that one
sure it has nothing to do about duncan leading his team to a perfect 4-0 record in the finals
about duncan never losing in the first round
about being the best pf ever
    back to back mvp
    3 time finals mvp
    everyseason allnba and all defensive
sure its cuz i really hate bryant that has yet to lead his team to a ring of course
    silly me
    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  106. Michael says:

My top ten by the way

    1.Jordan
    2.Wilt
    3.Magic
    4.Kareem
    5.Russel
    6.Bird
    7.Tim Duncan
8.Kobe- He owns every Laker offensice record. Every single one, he shattered all of Jerry Westr and Elgin Baylors records, he’s won more championships, thats why he goes over them.
    9.Jerry West
    10.Oscar Robertson.

  107. Ian says:

    doug u r 12 right?

  108. Ian says:

    hey dougie
look another list with duncan over kobe
    lol

  109. AY says:

i just remember jordan skipped the opening ceremonies and didn’t go to any of the other olympic games to stay in the gym and focus on fiba 3s and footwork. The original team wasn’t going to lose.

    Duncan over kobe.

  110. doug says:

ian i know of two remedial kids by that same name that went to my school and i can tell by your obscene language your IQ is really low.Everyone including spurs fans knows TD won that last championship because of his supporting cast(Parker,Ginobli) and ofcourse they were playing the Cavs. You saw what Kobe did to them they beat them in 5 and the Spurs had a far better team.As far as your comment about fat Shaq,Shaq wouldn’t have won anything with out Kobe or Wade.Kobe has gotten his team to the NBA finals and Shaq had a far better supporting cast when he was with the Lakers.Ian your an indiot and degenerate and most importantly I can insult you with out cursing you hillbilly.Be gone.

  111. doug says:

i’m not 12 either ian so you might want to stop talking to me you seem like the type interested in talking to 12 year old boys you petifile.Let’s stick to basketball because based on your questions and your foul mouth your far from a moral pilar much less a decent or upstanding citizens who doesn’t date his cousins. I bet you live in some socially primitive state like idaho or iowa somewhere in the mid-west where the apex of ignorance is at it’s peak.Do you guys even get TV reception out there or are you still putting foil on your antennas.

  112. doug says:

AY i respect your ability to have an opinion but I don’t respect your opinion Duncan over Kobe. Duncan even says Kobe is the best player him and Le Bron.Your favorite players, favorite player is Kobe Bryant.AY open your eyes.

  113. doug says:

AY i respect your ability to have an opinion but I don’t respect your opinion Duncan over Kobe. Duncan even says Kobe is the best player him and Le Bron.Your favorite players, favorite player is Kobe Bryant.AY open your eyes.

  114. Ian says:

hillbilly jum isnt that wat u americans call that people that live with u in your trailor

i wass come in and apologize cuz i shouldnt be making fun of retards like u but then u come up with one stupid post after another and realize hey he isnt a retard he is just plain stupid

spurs had a better team than the lakers gtfoh
td won in 07 cuz of his team hahahahahahahaha ok and the best part was that they won cuz they played cleveland
jum didnt timmy beat the pistons that wooped kobes ass in 04 but i guess u fotgot that
or that amazing line in the closing game vs the nets

    later dougie

  115. Ian says:

oh dougie one more thing i dont live in the states so i really dont know why u insulting your neighbors with those redneck comments

  116. Ian says:

    11 13?

comon why did u imagine i lived in the states werent u the one calling someone else dr phil for imagining things about someone

u like to talk out your ass alot little boy

  117. doug says:

Yes, Ian time for you to take a nap on the magic carpet isn’t that what you do in kindergarten class, mix in a book with some of those animal crackers you guys eat at that age because you mouth is quite the septic tank you have to replace those obscenities with educated comments.
Theres a better way to convey your opinion little man but i know you’ve gotta go put your shoes in your cubby hole and take your nap so handle your biz.

  118. Things that make you go HMMMMMM.... says:

Alright ‘doug’ and ‘doc’….STFU already!! You think the Redeem Team would compete with the Dream Team… okay we get it!! Ya’ll on here acting as if some of these dudes are your siblings or something. As if it is killing you that people don’t agree with you about the ‘redeem team’. Its not that serious, damn go find a life or something. They have sent a decent team over to China that will more then likely win Gold, but ya’ll are pushing the shit. A lot of people on here think the ‘Dream Team’ was just that…THE DREAM TEAM. So just because you are living in the NOW, doesn’t mean that the great players of the of the past wouldn’t beat this current team. If you beleive otherwise, good for you, I could care less at this point.

Also, ‘doug’..the fact that you claim you are not 12 yrs old and are on here ranting the way that you are over this meaningless issue goes to show how pathetic your life might be….go shine Kobes shoes or something…Oh yeah and I don’t live in Chicago, I live in Cali…no bias here, just truth. KOBE AIN’T SHIT COMPARED TO MIKES ICON STATUS…now go kill yo self!! And take some of these other morons with cha. Damn STANS (stalker+fan= STAN). Deuces :)

  119. Things that make you go HMMMMMM.... says:

Oh yeah and for the record, I enjoy watching Kobe… don’t care for him as a person, but enjoy what he brings to the game and respect his game (so don’t come at me with that whole ‘hater’ crap). These people on here just get on my nerves arguing with everyone and every post that doesn’t ride Kobe’s nuts (posting 500 comments) and then hate on other players in the game just to pump him up, shit is old now…GTFOH with that. Now i’m done, lol!

  120. the mamba says:

    Top 5 all time:

    MJ
    Magic

But I still think kobe will pass all these guys b4 he’s done and grab a few more records (like most pts all time) and chips. Then maybe bron will pass him

lol celts got his first hater, awww..gotta love the kobe nut huggers. Nothin like comin back from vacation and seein uninformed homers arguin. Doug you might as well just drop it since celts (sadly was a celts fan wayyyy before this year), ian and doc have already proven their basketball knowledge, even though their not agreein now, meanwhile you just seem like some dumbass homer. I mean moronic bafoon? really? we say that now? Are you a super villian or mad scientist? And duncan a no show in the playoffs? just cuz parker won ONE mvp? did the spurs only have 1 ring? didn’t they win a ring before parker and manu were on the team? And shaq has been to the finals with every team he has been on. So he is either an AMAZING judge of future team success ala robert horry, or he helped make penny, kobe and dwade.

P.S: Pippen would slow down lebron. Stop him completely? nah but slow him down, easily. Pippen was shawn marion with more grit and better basketball IQ. Plus he was athletic and Lebron really can’t shoot. So you really think pip wouldn’t find a way to keep him from just drivin down the lane? the celtics did it, and one of the 50 greatest players of all time can’t?

“Are you a super villian or mad scientist?” lol

  123. Dave says:

Jordan AND Drexler were in their primes… drexler had been the Finals the year before against Jordan and the Bulls.

Magic and Bird were old, but still smart and crafty… you cant really put a measure on that.

Stockton was hurt DURING the summer, wasnt like he wasnt still in his prime as well.

That backcourt is just as good as the Redeem Teams, although not as athletic as a whole, MUCH smarter with more league experience.

The frontcourt is completely in favor of the Dream Team.

Robinson is a quicker more athletic version of Dwight Howard. And Ewing is much more physical than any of the other 3 front court players the Redeem team have. Chris Bosh and Boozer? HA. Barkley and Malone would eat them for lunch.. they would be in foul trouble before the opening tip.
