Manu Ginobili Out For Olympics

This is terrible news for Argentina’s hopes for a bronze medal:

Manu Ginobili’s left ankle injury will prevent him from playing in Argentina’s bronze-medal game against Lithuania on Sunday, according to team doctor Diego Grippo.

“There is no chance that Manu will recover,” Grippo said. There are no specific details on the extent of the injury, but it sounds like he re-aggravated the ankle sprain that nearly prevented him from playing in the Olympics in the first place. Grippo also mentioned that Andres Nocioni has tendinitis in his left knee, and his status for Sunday’s game is unknown.

Proof that God hates floppers too

    @ Celts Fan:

Some people in SA are a little bit angry now…

Don´t count Argentina out for the bronze, Chapu will be there, and Quinteros will rain some threes

  4. Allan says:

Better luck next time Manu, at least Argentina can say they lost because you were injured but this should not be an excuse. The US team will still dominate Argentina even if you played . . . sorry

  5. hatinonmanu says:

Isn’t this like the best news possible?

Celts has it right, god hates floppers…more importantly, I hate floppers, and manu is about the biggest piece of shit flopper to have lived. Anyone with me in wishing that he gets some sort of Grant Hill ankle infection and nearly dies?

  6. Austin Burton says:

So when Kobe goes up and someone cleanly slaps the ball out of his hands, but he flails his arms out and screams as loud as he can … then gets pissed when he doesn’t get the foul call … is that a flop?

  7. Celts Fan says:

@AB, good thing it’s the end of the day on Fri. If this was 9AM, this would devolve into another MJ vs. Kobe debate like the one I accidentally started earlier in th week.

for the record, I like watching Manu. He’s got soooo many moves; it’s really impressive and fun to watch. I just hate flopping…

  8. Austin Burton says:

Yeah really. I’ve accepted that pretty much every superstar flops and complains. It’s part of the game. I don’t exactly like it, but if everyone does it, I’m not gonna single out Manu or any other one player.

  9. SayItAintSo says:

I don’t think Manu gets single out specifically for flopping…the beef is presumably with the extent to which he overacts, or looks like a tool in the process of flopping.

Make note that I love Manu’s game. I have respect for some that can annoy the shit out of me without even doing anything.

    @Celts Fan

i quit believing when Scalabrine won a ring

  11. Ian says:

celts fan dont be like that
ab is right kobe does the arm thing and gives the refs a death stare everytime he misses a shot

but more important than the olympics for me (im not from the us thats why) is the spurs if manu isnt healthy we will get beat down again by the lakers and lets not forget new orleans

  12. LakeShow84 says:

HEY Manu’s a flopper but dude can finish with either hand and has some of best handles in the league (he can get anywhere he wants) and can shoot lights out for CLUTCH shots.. Like WelpsFan said he got so many moves.. a spanish Kobe almost but the flopping is disgusting..

its like if a beautiful woman slept with Bobby Brown.. You KNOW you wouldnt answer her call afterwards..

Come to think of it i wouldnt even admit meeting Bobby Brown nowadays..

  13. LakeShow84 says:

I also think I just heard Greg Popovich state he hates being right all the time.. He did warn him about this..

  14. GEE...going for the gold in 2012 for pimp slappin 10m says:

Cancer and floppin. We most def. need some cures!

  15. Borgs says:

Exactly, AB. Wishing that a great player nearly dies (#5)because he does what 98% of players would do if they knew they’d gain their team an advantage indicates little capacity for thought.

  16. heartbreaker85 says:

i like manu’s offensive game, even his defense when he cleanly swipes the ball away from opponents. i hate the flops though.

plus, i still dont get why no one calls him for steps when he drives. he’s lunging into spots instead of the normal cuts.

  17. San Antonio says:

All you people no matter what team or conference your with would love to have MANU on your team. Ever one complains when Ray Allen cries about everything, and when Kobe flails his arms and maybe just maybe Manu sells his point a bit. However the SPURS are the most called on team for fouls and not getting calls them selfs even in San Antonio.

Bottom line MANU has got game better than some less than others, all you people who wish some one ill intent are truely sick and Karma will get you. For all you others sports and athleticism are the true meaning of sports and in this case the best team won. GO USA GO. Is all every one should be saying since we are all in America despite our player or team alliegance. GO SPURS/USA GO!!!

  18. doc says:

It dont matter they lost the real game already anyway.
