Mo Williams to Cleveland Rumor Heating Up
Mo in Cleveland? At first it seemed like every other rumor that we’ve heard about the Cavs trying to bring in some semblance of talent to play alongside LeBron.
But the Mo Williams-to-Cleveland rumor isn’t just another empty possibility. Talks have progressed to the point where there are now other names to go coming and going in this potential three-team exchange: Mo Williams would join the Cavs, Delonte West or Joe Smith would go to Oklahoma City, and they would give up Luke Ridnour to the Bucks.
The Cavaliers have been unable to come to a contract agreement with point guard Delonte West, who is a restricted free agent this summer, and he could be part of the deal in a sign-and-trade, according to reports. Or Oklahoma City could receive former Bucks forward Joe Smith, who has an expiring contract and will be paid $4.8 million next season.
The Bucks are interested in Ridnour, according to league sources. The 6-foot-2 guard from Oregon has played five seasons for the SuperSonics since being selected 14th overall in the 2003 draft.
With Russell Westbrook and Earl Watson on board in OKC, it doesn’t really make sense for them to get Delonte West in a sign-and-trade. Instead, they’d be better off taking the expiring contract of Joe Smith - who can also offer Jeff Green some guidance as he continues to grow into an offensive threat around the paint.

Mo might actually be good in Cleveland because if he guns Lebron they will chop his head off.

this trade sucks azz,how do the cavs continue to make these moves and think that they are getting better? delonte west plays defense and he passes to lebron, mo is a pure gunner won’t pass to anyone adn doesnt like defense…it’s simple
countdown to the post game choke slam that ben wallace will give mo after he takes a half court buzzer beater off balance, while lebron is wide open foul line extended

I agree with Justice the Cavs need to keep West and find talent elsewhere.

Delonte West is SERVERLY underrated.. hes a lefty who can CAUSE some BIGGG ass problems [Washington in GM 4] which i serverly almost cried that game.
n i dont see Mo Williams being that PG..hes just a PG who jacks up shots n is like Gilbert. [xcept Gil is a team leader n has more swag =] ]
n Mo Williams doesnt have PIZZAZ in the game. so forrreal..a poor-poor-poor-poor-poor mans Gilbert Arenas. would fit in Cleveland?..
i dont think so. keep Delonte. trade Joe Smith. or someone else. like Wally
CLE should trade everyone xcept Boobie.LBJ. and West

Agreed. Maybe not keep West, but the Cavs are making meaningless trades. In NBA 2k if you trade too often your team loses chemistry and your players lose moral which causes you to have a harder time winning games… However, you keep the same players (even mediocre ones) and your chemistry jumps up, improving moral, and making it easier to finish out games. 2k is real enough for me to make this comparison by the way…
Just saying - the Cavs seem to be making these trades with no point to them, just thinking that one of these “point guards” is bound to click with LeBron. D West hasn’t even been there an entire season!
I’m just confused as to what Cleveland is thinking that they’re doing.

AGREED Karizmatic, but if OKC can get Delonte (who I was surprised they gave up last year,) they should dump Earl. Delonte is a solid defender who can shoot and isn’t a bad PG. He and Westbrook could play some together and be a nice defensive unit (albeit an undersized one.) Either way, if Delonte’s ok being a backup, I think he’s an upgrade over Watson and he should start some right away unless Westbrook’s ready from the jump (don’t see it on day 1.)

You know, Lebron really runs the point for Cleveland–leaving Mo to be a stand-alone shooter. It didn’t work with Damon or Donyell, but maybe with Guns Williams, it might come out better. But I am always skeptical of Danny Ferry’s decision making.

“Semblance of talent” is right. Why would they get rid of Delonte? Someone needs to figure out how best to use Lebron, fast. Is he their point guard? Is he taking a lot of shots (a la a 2 guard)? Does he play the 3? Is he big enough to play the 4? I get that he/s versatile, but it’s hard to put the right kind of talent around him if no one knows EXACTLY what to do with him.
