Even since he went from the U of Washington to the Knicks, Nate Robinson has been killing the competition on the summer basketball scene in New York City. He lit up playground legend Kareem Reid at EBC America a couple summers ago, has been reported to show up at random asphalt courts at various times during the year looking for a run, and more recently, has been a regular at the Nike Pro City tournament at Hunter College.
We found some video of “Naughty Nate,” as he was dubbed at the Nike Hyperdunk Challenge in D.C., dropping 51 points at NYC’s Fireball tournament, whose regulars also include Renaldo Balkman, Smush Parker, Marcus Williams (Warriors) and Corey “Homicide” Williams. Peep the putback dunk at the 30-second mark, and the block 45 seconds in.

Nate is Freak of Nature. They made him and Lebron in the same basement. They came from the same test tube and Nate was Lebron’s attached shoulder twin.

@ Fiyaman,
“Nasty” Nate is taken. Nate Brown (St. Peter’s) is known as that in NYC. Dude is….well….nasty. lol. A true PG who controls the pace of a game like very few.

How about Nate the Great, or Natepolian for possible nicknames? As a NYC resident, we need to adopt Nate as one of our own. Dude stays playing in tournaments. Must be nice to dude what you love for a living and get paid big bucks for it.

@BxBaller — You can’t adopt Nate. He’s still 206, buddy, and we’re hanging onto whatever NBA ties we’ve got. But I like “Natepolian.” Goes with his whole mindset.

and what do you consider little men? If it’s 6′1″ and under nate doesn’t rank in the top 20.
August 15th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Diego says:
Yeah, you got to go with a list of 5 ft somethings. Otherwise, there are a lot of nice 6′0″ and 6′1″ guys.
Charlie Criss? Also there was some little gunner for Denver I think a few years back–who was that?
