Nike Air Bakin’ Limited Edition Colorway
Cool Grey ColorwayI wasn’t the biggest Tim Hardaway fan, but I used to try to dribble like him since my dad would always tell me how great his handle was. When his sneaker, the Nike Air Bakin’ dropped I begged my dad for a pair. Not because of Tim, but because they were fire.
My dad got them for me on a Friday, just in time for this pool party I was going to that Saturday. I had my outfit ready, along with my new kicks I was like Kanye; You couldn’t tell me nothin’!
Long story short, I got to the pool party changed into my trunks and locked my clothes up. When I got back, my lock was cut and all of my clothes were gone…including my underwear.
I told you guys that story because I had extreme hatred for the Air Bakin’. I had to take a bus home in just swim trunks due to the fact that someone liked my sneakers that much. I blamed the whole incident on those damn shoes.

I saw a dude rocking them in Harlem and I thought to myself, “Chris, that was years ago. Go cop a pair.” But my pride wouldn’t let me. I vowed never to purchase those kicks again…that was until today.
I got to my desk this morning and saw the Air Bakin’ sitting there in a dope grey colorway. I definitely want a pair of these. Yeah, I know I’m supposed to have a deep rooted hatred for these sneaks, but the older I am getting I realized that it is stupid to hold grudges.
Expect the Cool Grey Air Bakin’ to drop sometime next month for $125.00 in a very limited quantity, so keep your ears to the streets so you’re not out there like I was…damn near naked.

Here’s my Air Bakin’ story: Back when they first dropped (1992?) they were super HOT, but some people were offended by the flames on the back (interpreted as an insult to Islam??) so Nike took them off the shelves. I picked up a pair at the Nike outlet at Woodbury Commons for $29.99 that had a black rubber Nike patch glued over the back. The shoe’s looked great (blue on black) but tore my pinky toes up because they were so damn narrow. Be thankful someone stole ‘em because your feet would have took damage in them if you tried to play in them.
