Ricky Rubio’s Olympic Debut

Ricky Rubio
One of the most-watched players in Beijing is without a doubt Spain’s Ricky Rubio. We’ve made secret on this about how much we love his game - once even referring to him as “Pistol Lite.”

ESPN’s Chris Sheridan posted a brief breakdown of Rubio’s relatively brief Olympic debut against Greece over the weekend. You can read about it HERE.

Does anyone know if there are any video recaps of the China game online?

  2. Harris says:

Ricky Rubio will be a star in Spain, but I think he projects to be like Walt Frasier. More current projections include John Stockton or Gilbert Arenas.

In this week’s NBA Gauntlet, we have Dwyane Wade destroying Gilbert Arenas. I thought it would be much closer.

  3. Jim says:

Interesting thing in the Sheridan piece that I hadn’t heard…Kaman’s dad was pissed that he represented another country. You can just imagine Kaman’s parents always shaking their heads when he does/says crazy stuff. Not that I wouldn’t go to the Olympics.

  4. Young Lebron 23 says:

What is that white stuff in the picture? Cocaine? Just kidding I know it’s a trophy. Anyway Rubio the next Arenas? WTF?

  5. doc says:

Yeah we should stop comparing people. All that do is make the person a bust faster. Now if he dont average 25 people gonna be like they said he was like Gil.We’ll see what he like when he get over here.

  6. Kobeef says:

Rubio has great size, speed and length for the PG at 6′4 but he is not a great shooter and doesn’t play above the rim.

Think of him as a skinnier Jason Kidd.
The thing that you have to keep in mind is “upside”. He is still just 17 and plays pro ball in europe.

  7. Celts Fan says:

too bad his coaches (for allowing this) are idiots. Don’t be surprised if they leave for a game and are never heard from again.

    Are you friggin serious?

  8. doc says:

Dam where the media hate on this.If melo and them did this shit they would be getting trashed.

  9. MoxWestCoastRep says:

    Pistol Pedro?

  10. J$ul says:

Look like Pistol Pete? yea fair comparison, play like him? not quite. I definitely think he’s a great player with a ballin future but his skill set does not quite match that of the pistol.

Hey dime, if you want to see someone that has the ball handling and pull from anywhere type jumper like pistol pete, search “Hunter McClintock” on youtube. he’s going to be a post grad ballin at Patterson Prep in NC this upcoming season after barely fielding any offers from serious D1 schools (kentucky almost acted interested).Yea he’s not that tall or athletic but with that handle, worse case scenario he’ll be giving grayson boucher the business on the and1 tour.
