And hey, if it’s the top 5% who will get taxed more, fine by me (that’s apparently HH income of >174k.) That’s me; I’ll be getting taxed more. But you know what? The $$I have the opportunity to make here in the US comes from the stability, vitality, and education of our people. And shit, I’m also paying taxes to keep the rabble from jumping my ass and taking my shit =). So I’m fine with that.

i too make more then $174k but then my brother makes $35k and his taxes will go up, a couple of my employees make $33-40k and theirs are going to go up too.
obama is not going to “raise the taxes” on those below about 150-200k BUT he has been fighting to get the current tax breaks to come to an end effectively raising everyones taxes by 3%. while it is not a “raise taxes” it is still going to raise taxes.
i have no issue paying taxes, hell if you pay taxes it means your making money BUT nobody wants to pay more taxes then they have to. why do people get turbotax or a cpa or damn H&R BLOCK to do their taxes? so they dont have to pay to much in taxes.

Rangerjohn…Dime made an observation while watching the DNC that Spike Lee (a basketball lover) was wearing a shirt of Obama dunking on McCain. And it was just that….an observation. When we see someone wearing a shirt with a picture of John McCain dunking on Obama at the RNC…I implore Dime to be fair and show it to us. LOL
But since you can’t get any valid responses that meet your standards on why so and so is voting for Obama on a basketball blog…here, I’ll shoot you some off of the top of my head. Be sure to dig real deep in the blog section of the NRO website, Little Green Footballs, and whichever right wing blog site you may also frequent to rebut. The list in no way is listed in matters of importance to me.
1) Obama was one of the very few. VERY FEW. That was against the war in Iraq from the beginning. Back when it was unpatriotic to disagree with Bush. Back when people were chastised for going against the grain and saying no to this unjust war…Obama was there from the beginning saying NO to this war. I think he made a good decision, considering all of the facts that have surfaced now. And not to be overlooked even though it so poorly is, he stressed the importance of keeping the war in Afghanistan. To catch the real enemy….Osama Bin Laden. What happened with Bush’s war on terror that you’d forget about the guy that organized the killing of 3000+ Americans???
2) He has embraced the internet and cell phone era to organize the most efficient grass roots effort in American history. Ask Hillary about that one. And he stresses that with this technology, he will focus on the importance of a transparent government. And answer to the people…check out his website and see how interactive it is.
3) Unlike McCain. I do trust the fact that he will reach across party lines. And his record IS evidence of that. Just off of the top of my head, during the much publicized trip to Europe. Obama brought along two well known foreign affairs politicians. One being Republican Senator Chuck Hagel. There is more evidence, but I’ll save it for another post.
Those are just 3. I’ll save the rest for later…now, onto why I WILL NOT vote for McCain.
1) In his quest to become the Rep nominee…he sold out to the GOP base. Issues such as the tax cuts (which he said were irresponsible before he was running) he now supports. Abortion, he’s against it…but said in 99 that we would not move to repeal Roe v. Wade…these days, he’s Pro Life %100 percent…and vows to select Supreme Court judges to change Roe V. Wade. He called Jerry Falwell an “agent of ignorance” when Falwell spewed off, saying we deserved 9/11 because we love gays. Now, he welcomes his support enough to employ one of Falwell’s ex speech writers. Being a POW, he stood up against torture pre-election…now…he backs the White House’s justifications for using torture….I’ll stop there…this is already too long. But where did our Maverick go?
2) He is an honored POW. And last I knew, POW’s don’t really like sharing that they are. It’s an honor and respect thing. These days, he uses the POW card to get him out of jams like a dirty wet rag. So much so, that he’s diluted his own service, and the service of our soldiers lost, POW, and serving.
3) He was wrong on the timeline to pull out our troops from Iraq…and still opposes it, even though there is one now. He went as far as saying that Obama would rather win the election than lose the war…well, guess what…if Iraq is saying that they want a timeline, then they agreed with Obama. And if the Bush Whitehouse is working along with them, then they have even agreed with Obama as well.
4) Karl Friggin Rove. Nuff said there.

5)being against something is one thing but saying “we cant change something that is set” when it cant be changed with the people in office at the time is part of being in office.
6)as for being a POW and “not talking about it” or “not sharing” that is total BS. from personal experience, my grandfather was a WW2 POW and a survivor of the bataan death march where 70+ thousand POW’s where marched about 60 miles in 3-4 days and treated worse then mike vicks dogs. he spoke about it all the time, told me and my brothers MANY stories. we met with several of his fellow pow’s and everyone of them wanted to tell their stories.
7)as for a troop pull out, i agree with him (as a former soldier along with the soldiers i know today)pull out has to ahppen, but to set a timeline is crazy you can not leave until the job is done. as an example, somalia in 1993, i was at the us army ranger school in october 1993, oct 3rd is a terrible day for us. for those who dont know the “blackhawk down” story. (i was not there but i know people who where, even a current friend of mine was in aviation and was there at that time)george bush sr had us there to help food shipments and capturing warlords. we got attacked on a mission, and the next month clinton is ellected. one of his 1st things to do was to pull us out, leaving men there for their families to never be able to rest their bodies. the entire world looks at that as “the usa got beat by some street thugs” and lost respect for our military. nuf said
as for the “chick” he chose, she has about as much experience as obama and she is the SECOND not the 1st. tell me again how biden follows obamas “change” ideals again?
