‘United We Rise’ Wade BasketballD. Wade knows a thing or two when it comes to redemption. The Miami Heat’s fall from NBA royalty, multiple injuries, and a 2004 Bronze medal in Athens all add fuel to the fire that is Dwyane Wade’s road to re-claim the throne…and he is focused.
It seems that Flash hell bent on salvation. Just look at how he has been playing with Team USA. Wade led the team in scoring during the exhibition games (18ppg), and today he had a stellar performance against Angola.
To celebrate Dwyane and Team USA’s road back to basketball supremacy Converse created a limited edition ‘United We Rise’ WADE basketball. The ball features the familiar ‘Spirit of Freedom’ graphic as well as D. Wade’s autograph.

I should get a basketball because I love basketball and I love this site. I check it out all the time and go to you first, cuz you guys tend to break the news ESPN tries to pawn off as breaking news hours later. Also, the ball I’ve been using has gotten kinda old and worn from playing so much and I need to pick one up soon anyway. I’d love to show up at the courts with a nice, new DWade ball. Hell, maybe if you gave me the ball, I’d have a chance with Star Jones…

I recently gave away my only basketball to few shorties in my neighboorhood because their pill was coming apart at the seams. I got my ball out the trunk and tapped each kid with a mean cross just to show them how it’s done. It was a small gesture but one that I know they will remember.
It got me thinking that as much as the ball meant to me, it was nothing in comparison to people who don’t have half as much as I got. My first ball was a black, neon green, and neon orange Dominique Wilkins ball. My father bought it and dribbled around me til I got dizzy. Ever since then I wanted to play ball.
The ball comes with a story, D-Wade overcame adversity of a major injury to be selected as a player for the USA basketball team. The little ball players in hood can look to his story and relate. I’m not going to lie, if I get the ball I’ll probably pass it to another shorty more deserving than me. If I don’t get the rock, DIME just make sure the right someone gets it!

My nephew was going away to UCLA to play ball but blew his knee out in one of the local gyms here in Detroit now they say he has a 50/50 chance of making a full recovery and may lose his scholarship. His favorite player is D-Wade and I know this would make his day. Even though it doesn’t compare to what he may have lost.

If Toronto had any sense we would have drafted DWade and given up on these wirey big men Toronto seems to draft waaayyy too often..yep I’m talking about u Camby! and that never to be fulfilled promise of a future Dirk Bargnani,.. so really DWade belongs to us…..
Hence all merchandise, awards, magazines and yes basketballs too belong in CANADA… If I recieve the ball I will carry it to every raptors game (season pass holder) as a gentle reminder that we could have DWade right now!!

Because of D Wade: I am a better player and person. Watching him struggle with injuries and to finally see him healthy has helped me recover from my own ACL replacement.
Fall down 7 times, get up 8. That type of determination now has me playing 5 times a week with no brace. And I really did look to Dwayne as a source for inspiration - no bull.

I am gonna be real here: I tried thinking up a sob story I could use to get the ball and frankly, I could not think of any. I don’t want the ball for my son - He is 3 years and I don’t even think he likes basketball because every time I turn the TV to the NBA Channel he screams “I want Noggin”. I don’t have any sick friends or relatives who is a Dwayne Wade fan and my favorite player is Allen Iverson.
I should get this ball because I want to add it to my basketball collection. Right now I have an autographed Jason Kidd pair of kicks an And 1 ball signed by all the players and this Wade ball would look “crazy” in the display case with others. Furthermore, I think it would have more of a sentimental value in every sense of the word if I won it as oppose to purchasing it. Ya dig?

I want this because the only effort my parents make to buy me a basketball is when we go to a carnival and they give you a cheap deflated ball if you win. Not only that but my parent dont exceed 8 dollars which is 4 bballs so sometimes I go home empty handed because they want to play too, but it taught that family comes first and that they’re makiing an effort to get me a ball.

On a serious note. I’m an Olympic addict. And even more so now because I have 2 girls that I’m forcing to watch every event that we can see. It’s the first Olympics that they’ll remember. And of course, we’ve been waking up early and catching our “Redeem Team”. This team especially, is a special one. And DWade is one of my all time favorite players. I’d love to get my hands on one of those basketballs. I need a new one anywhoo. (the girls lost my good one. LOL)

This is the honest to God truth. A couple of days ago I hit an amazing shot at the park and all of the kids were ooohing and aaahing. I was so shocked and amazed that the shot went in that I decided to go home so that I could leave on such a good note. One of the little kids asked me if he could have my ball. I told the kid “sure”. I figured he would appreciate the ball more than I would and I felt like it was the right thing to do after hitting such an amazing shot. Now I need a ball for myself to hoop with since I gave that one away.. Hopefully I can win this ball and hoop with it as Team USA gets the gold!

I deserve a ball because Dwayne Wade embodies all that I ever hope to be. His perseverance, persistence, and drive has inspired me these last few years to get back up every time an obstacle has stumbled me in my career aspirations.
Being born in China, I’ve been under rigorous academic pressure since the start of grade school. My parents have pushed me towards careers in medicine, engineering, and law because of the potential salaries that those jobs can offer. However, my passion has always been for basketball. Now I know that I don’t have the athleticism and physical gifts to play professional ball in the NBA, but that hasn’t stopped me from pursuing a career in the sports industry. I’ve recently been accepted into business school, and am looking to go into sports management or sports agency despite my family’s consistent disapproval of these fields.
Dwayne Wade’s commercial with the two Dwayne’s, one on each shoulder, has been how I’ve seen my own situation. The “good” one tells me to give into my parents’ requests; the “bad” one tells me to dunk and go after my dreams. Dwayne Wade is someone I look up to for encouragement.
Lastly, I’m chinese. Why not give the ball to someone from China? This is where USA Basketball’s redemption is happening.

When I was young, I could only afford the orange plastic crappy basketballs. So when we played in the summertime, I would be embarassed to bring that ball out, because whenever my friends compared basketballs to choose the best ball to use as a game ball, they would make this ugly look once they got to my ball like “something stanks up in here”. Then, I went on to win a Vancouver Grizzlies basketball, but then everybody still made that face because the Vancouver Grizzlies sucked! So it would be great if I won this ball and actually have a ball that’s not embarassing and can use as a game ball.

I’d use this ball to practice D-Wade’s crazy circus shots that he makes every single game. At first I thought the dude just had amazing luck; then I realized after he made about one a game, he was legit. Throw in his heart and dedication to the game, and you have one solid role model and ambassador for the game.
