First of all, to get an appreciation for how old this clip is, listen for when one the American announcers says, “Dominique Wilkins and Antoine Carr are virtual babies in this League.” Anyway, it was on March 12, 1985, that Larry Bird famously shat on the Hawks for 60 points in a game that was for whatever reason played in New Orleans. Can’t really say much more other than enjoy the BONG show…

people say he only gets his rep because he is white… i say please~ his skill set is better than at least 95% of the players today. White or Black/euro/asian or whatever else, Bird can ball. ask Magic who is considered the one of the greatest PG to ever play

AH FINALLY, A “WE REMINISCE” ABOUT LARRY BIRD. THE GREATEST PLAYER OF ALL TIME!!!! IM SO TIRED OF HEARING MJ THIS AND MJ THAT. NOTHING AGAINST MY 2ND FAVORITE PLAYER EVER, BUT LARRY PLAYED IN THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE NBA. WHEN MICHAEL WAS GOD, IT WAS A WAEK-ASS LEAGUE AT BEST.
ALL HAIL LARRY BIRD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

really it doesnt matter what a player says
its cuz they respect each other but trust me 99.9% of the players think they are the best they just wont say it (except pierce)
and not everyone has to agree on mj being the best ever
i dont so if he thinks larry is the best ever why not he can make a case for him
magic and wilt are 1 and 2 in anyother in my book not mj

Is there anyone that can play inside and out better than Bird?
Dude will put on his jock and hit you on the block, then will spot up and hit a three like he has velvet hands. Can’t think of anyone off the cuff that could play inside and outside that well.
Plus the cat was automatic from the foul line.

Damn, Larry was throwin up the most ridiculous shots. He looked like JR Smith tossing up 35 footers in the playoffs last year, except Larry was swishing that shit. Bird did get postered by D wilkins tho. Ouch.

@ isiah
if bird were black, the only thing that would change would be an increase in his black fan base. hes still the g.o.a.t.
@ kevin k
if you took mj and bird and switched generations, bird would be considered twice as good as he was, and mj would have been like t-mac, just another above average player in a league full of them. no disrespect to mj, its just the way i feel.

kevin k says:
ian the statboy, i never said you had to agree that MJ was the best or what not. Its just that you stating that MJ played in a weak-ass league is what makes you smoke crack. MJ dominated when guys like Magic, Bird, and I. Thomas when they were in their prime. Thomas was jealous of MJ, Bird called MJ a god, and MJ took Magic’s last championship opportunity away. Plus MJ had no equals during the 90s. So since you stated that MJ played in a weak-ass league, I guess your favorite and the best player Magic played in a weak-ass league as well?

it aint easy being green:
a league cant be “full” of above average players, impossible. But still not the most stupid point you made in that sentence.
also, when bird lined up for a foul shot with no line up in the 2nd half, one of the announcers is talking about someone called “Ronnie Ronstein”. hahaa

kevin
first of all it wasnt me that said he played in a weak ass league
second mj dominated in the 90s magic the 80s and no one in their right mind would say the 90s were tougher
three mj didnt play against players like the sgs we have today
four mj took magics last championship please it was dead dynasty by then it was the same reason the bulls could finally beat detroit cuz everyone was already old or retired
five i would give anything to see them bulls in the 99 finals or 94 playin vs a team with a center
six im not sayin bird is better cuz i dont care but no jordan is not the greatest ever imo.
seven yeah im on crack cuz i dont agree with u gtfoh

Heaven Is A Playground says:
Bird’s celtics versus MJ and his Unbeatabulls. MJ would drain the game winninng jumper in the deciding Eastern Conf. game.
MJ is the god of basketball, and no one will ever take that a way from him. Bird is a nice player, and he dominated the game in everyway possible, but he would never take out Jordan’s team, not when Jordan was on those crazy 3-peat runs. Too much fire in Jordan to lose to a guy like bird. And I’m glad Zeke got his ass served in 1991, he deserved it, and if Jordan didn’t change his game from a scoring machine to the most complete player of all time, the Det-Chi 1991 series could have went to 6-7 games.
