What’s the worst basketball injury you’ve ever seen?
Kenyon Martin, Dime #3I’m watching Team USA about to lose to Cuba in the Olympic baseball tourney. A few minutes ago, one of the U.S. batters was squaring up to bunt and made contact, only the ball ricocheted off his bat and smacked him right in the face, opening up a pretty nasty gash around his eye.
It kind of reminded me of the infamous Kermit Washington punch that caused Rudy Tomjanovich’s face to explode, which got me to thinking:

Basketball I’ve never seen anything bad, my ACL probably but I didn’t see it…but I saw a DE in a HS game almost lose his leg on a chop block, his knee inverted. It was horrific and my boy who delivered the block was pretty shook.

I remember watching some show where a ref. called a foul on this highschool cat and he went nuts and puched the ref. If I remember right the ref was out for a lil minute and had to get stiches or his face was fractured or something.
It was ill though.

@11 Gee- that was a pro(or semi pro) player in South America. I think it was Brazil. He was charged with some kind of attempted murder or agrravated assault. The ref was in the hospital for quite awhile, i think he may have been in ICU, too. But yeah, that dude MESSED him up.

The worst i’ve ever seen happened localy. A guy dunked on a low rim and hit his head in the backboard and then he crashed in the pole afterwards. He was bleeding from his head and he broke his arm. Kinda messy : /

I was in the building for the Garbajosa thing, that was sick. Everyone kinda thought he just rolled his ankle at first, so you’re casually watching the replay on the Jumbotron and you can hear the entire arena yell out an “Ohh” as they show Big Al landing on it, a few bitches screamed. It’s a shame too, that dude was good and the least soft Euro (especially for a wing!) that I can remember. (I haven’t seen Shaun’s, I don’t want to, I’ve heard enough…)
The worst I saw in person was in Jr. High, we were playing in the gym after school. One of my buddies is playing D, jumps a passing lane and someone tries to block him as he’s going up for the layup and catches mostly wrist. My friend braces his fall with both hands - breaking BOTH wrists - and smashes his head into the ground. Both wrists were DONE, useless hands barely hanging on, just kinda waving, and he hit his head so hard, he had a concussion and had to be helped out to the nurse, hands just waving away…

the worst i saw in person was in BBALL camp a few yrs ago…it was one of those 5 on 5 games..n my friends Trevon n Marcus got into a lil altercation…n then they started throwin punches at each other..like a LITERAL fistfight. it was funny but both of the guys got like a broken nose/jaw/ brused ribs. man it was sick

worst i saw was few years back, we played outdoor. friend pump faked a guy, who well over him and broke both arms in elbows, arms just went backwards. you could see dislocated bones under the skin, like in steven seagal movies. guy was in such shock that he didn’t even screamed, he just got up and went home. he had casts on both arms for 6 months or so.

without question in real life i saw a guy jump up for a layup, get bumped in midair, then he landed on his ankle. it was broken at more than a 90 degree angle and you could see bone sticking out. all of us had to leave the gym while they set it back in place. almost threw up.
